Chapter Text

“Do you Killian Jones take Milah Henderson to be your wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?”

“I do,” Killian says and smiles.

“And do you Milah Henderson take Killian Jones to be your husband, to have and to hold…”

Emma stifles a yawn. She is happy for her friends finally getting their act together and taking their relationship to the next level, she is; but if she’s being honest weddings are a little…boring.

Emma looks around the church and for the first time spots a woman seated with the people from the bride’s side, she’s a brunette, wearing a silver dress, and she’s drop-dead gorgeous. Now that Emma’s laid eyes on her once, she can’t stop staring.

The woman looks at her and immediately turns back to look at the couple. Emma continues staring. She knows it’s bad manners but she’s can’t take her eyes off of the gorgeous brunette. The woman turns to look at her again and this time she doesn’t immediately turn away, instead, she narrows her eyes at Emma. Emma gives her a small smile, but the woman doesn’t return it.

She turns away from Emma again.

Emma sighs and finally tears her eyes away from the woman.

“You may now kiss the bride,” The priest declares. Killian and Milah kiss, Emma cheers along with the others.

After it’s all over Emma makes her way over to the woman from earlier.

“Hey,” Emma says, smiling at the other woman.

“Hey,” The woman replies, sounding thoroughly bored.

“I’m Emma. Emma Swan,” Emma says, holding out her hand. Seriously Swan? Is this a business meeting?

The other woman looks Emma up and down, sizing her up, and Emma flushes. Then she hesitantly but finally takes Emma’s hand. “Regina Mills.”

“Uh, you’re beautiful,” Emma blurts, then turns red. She hadn’t meant to say it out.

Regina turns pink. “And you have terrible manners,” she spits - obviously talking about Emma’s staring from earlier. She turns away from Emma flouncing her hair and sashays away.

She leaves Emma standing there, her mouth dangling open in embarrassment.

After congratulating Milah and Killian, Regina heads home.

She parks her Mercedes, gets out of it, and makes her way up the great big front doors of her mansion. She sees Robin, her boyfriend, sitting on the porch. They’d met each other at a bar and clicked immediately. Robin is easy-going and nice. The perfect boyfriend.

“Hey Robin,” Regina says and smiles.

“Hey, darling,” Robin says, he comes over and kisses her.

“How long have you been sitting here? Do come in,” Regina says and walks up the porch.

“Not long,” Robin replies, as Regina unlocks the door and walks inside her house, Robin trailing behind.

“Are you going to be staying the night?” Regina questions. She’s not too keen on the idea. They’ve been in a relationship for only three months so far and they haven’t gone beyond kissing, and Regina definitely wouldn’t want to tonight. Not with her son, Henry, in the house, even if he is already asleep.

“If you’re okay with it,” Robin replies, smiling foolishly at her.

Regina doesn’t know how to say that she’s not okay with it without sounding rude so she goes to take a shower and change out of her itchy dress into something more comfortable.

Robin’s relaxing on the living room sofa when Regina comes downstairs, drying her hair with a towel and wearing a cardigan and sweatpants. Robin pats the seat beside him.

They put on a movie and watch it while cuddling but Regina doesn’t pay attention to most of the movie or Robin’s hand lightly scratching her shoulder.

Regina’s thoughts keep drifting back to Emma Swan

“Thanks for coming,” Killian says.

“What no! Of course dude, no problem. I love you and I’m so happy for you both,” Emma replies, surprised Killian has to thank her for making it to his wedding. She envelops Milah and Killian in a hug, and takes her leave, feeling slightly buzzed, her cheeks rosy.

Emma drives home in her yellow bug, she’s had this car since she was 17, she stole it with Neal, her ex, and she hasn’t been able to let go of it ever since. Not that she can afford a high-quality car either.

Emma changes out of uncomfortable pink dress into a tank top and shorts. She flops down onto her bed and stares at the ceiling.

Immediately, her thoughts drift off to Regina.

Regina fucking Mills.

Okay, maybe Emma shouldn’t have stared at Regina but that didn’t justify Regina’s rude behavior either. She could’ve been kinder. After all, Emma had called her beautiful. Plus Emma was only staring at her, it wasn’t like she’d committed a crime.

Clearly, Regina is gorgeous from the outside but from the inside? Not so much.

Well, whatever, Emma wasn’t gonna waste her peaceful night thinking about the stunning she-devil.

Emma rolls over, lets her eyes drift shut, and falls into a comfortable sleep filled with dreams of Regina Mills.
