Summary
In the wake of Order 66, former Jedi Padawan Vi hides from the Empire in plain sight. By day she works as a scrapper, tearing apart old ships for the Empire to repurpose for their war machine. Vi waited for her to finish, her attention shifting between Caitlyn’s eyes and mouth. But after stammering a few more incoherent sounds, Caitlyn couldn’t force herself to say anything — she didn’t even know what she wanted to say. She only knew that all her earlier efforts to calm her heartbeat had gone to waste, because now it pounded like a drum in her chest.

“I know.” Rue answers, rolling up the sleeves of her brown blazer, which is way too big for her.
“You can’t be late.” Lexie’s voice is sharper now, those doe eyes dropping back to the papers on the desk.
“What are you going to do?” Rue lifts a playful eyebrow. “Arrest me?” She chuckles, finding the irony hilarious, but when she’s met with a completely serious expression, her laughter fades.
“I won’t. But your probation officer certainly will.”

The thing about being a convicted consultant for the LAPD is that nobody’s actually happy you’re there. The cops think you’re a criminal, and that having an IQ of 228 doesn’t mean you deserve a seat at the table. And yeah, maybe they’ve got a point. The suspects… well, they can tell you’re not a cop, but they can’t clock what you are.
