As Kaoru wheeled himself into Sia La Luce he heard a familiar voice call out, “Are you some kind of idiot, who sneaks out of a hospital?”
“I’m fine, okay it’s just a scratch.”
“Says the mummy who just crawled from the crypt.” As they fell into their regular banter Kaoru could feel himself becoming calmer by the second. Eventually they made their way upstairs and Kaoru fell asleep in Kojiro’s arms.
*A Few Hours Later*
Kaoru woke up sweating, and close to tears. He knew it would be best to wake Kojiro up, but he didn’t want to be a bother so he resolved to suffer in silence. This worked for about a few minutes before the tears started to fall. Which caused Kojiro to wake up.
“Kaoru wha-, hey hey what's wrong?” Kojiro asked concern clear in his tone. Kaoru didn’t respond, simply sobbing more as Kojiro pulled him into a hug. After a few minutes Kaoru had stopped crying and he had calmed down slightly.
“What’s wrong Kaoru?” Kojiro asked again as Kaoru pulled away from the hug.
“It was just a nightmare no need to worry more than you already have, you needy gorilla,” Kaoru responded in a fake annoyed tone.
“Blossom please I want to help you,” Kaoru stayed silent, “Kaoru please I’m your fiance you can talk to me, if you really don’t want to we don’t have to, but I’m here if you do,” Kojiro said as he interlaced their hands. Kaoru nodded, “Everytime I close my eyes I see him and that god awful skateboard, and it sucks because I don’t know how to stop them!” Kaoru took a deep breath before continuing in a softer voice.
“I haven’t been getting the best sleep the past few days and I missed you so I snuck out using Carla. I hoped the nightmares would stop if I was with you because I trust you and I feel safe around you but I guess I can’t even be granted that.”
“I’m sorry Kaoru,” Kojiro said once Kaoru had finished.
“For what? You didn’t do anything,” Kaoru asked, confused.
“I’m sorry that you had to experience this, I’m sorry that you can’t even escape him in your sleep, but I hope talking about it helped,” Kojiro said, placing a kiss on Kaoru temple. Kaoru gave a small smile, “It actually helped a lot more than I thought it would.”
“Do you think you are ready to go back to sleep?” Kojiro asked as they both laid back down. Kaoru nodded, “Thanks gorilla, I love you.”
“Anytime four-eyes, I love you too,” Kojiro replied, but Kaoru had already fallen asleep.
