Childe could feel the heavy attire he wore at the moment. The detailed ornaments of his wedding attire felt almost like a weight on his body, though he couldn't deny what made everything feel solid was the fact that he is going to marry Zhongli. Zhongli, someone he never thought would reciprocate his feelings, let alone spend the rest of his life together with Childe in binding promises. He wouldn't dare to even imagine. Everything felt surreal, from the moment Zhongli proposed, no correction, from the moment the latter said he loved him back in Wangshu Inn.
"Master Childe, it's almost time." The maid that had been sent to dress Childe up finally showed up again and with that it's also time he would finally see Zhongli again. The air suddenly was suffocating enough for Childe to breathe normally. The sound of his heartbeat thumping in his chest was incredibly loud.
As Childe walked out of his room to greet Zhongli, who looked even more dazzling than before, with a smile painted on his face, and the wedding attire, he felt his heart beat faster, butterflies flutter roughly in his stomach.
When Zhongli looked at him and offered a reassuring smile, Childe could see how proud the man was, standing beside him, holding his hands as they walked down the aisle. Perhaps Childe was hallucinating, but it still made his heart flutter in the most endearing way.
The ceremony began after they're on the altar, facing each other.
Zhongli insisted on doing the wedding in Liyue's tradition and Childe of course would never deny the latter. It is a grand experience to have the wedding ceremony just as Zhongli wishes it to be.
As they were asked to bow to each other to begin the ceremony, Childe can't help but smile fondly. The overwhelming happiness started to creep from his stomach to his nape. He was over the moon, to say the least.
Everything went so fast yet so slow, when Zhongli untie the red string from his fingers as the symbol of possession, the shade of red blooms on his cheek. Childe already did more than just a kiss with Zhongli before his marriage but it felt more intimate than any act of affection in the past as Zhongli accidentally brushed his fingers.
"The lovers may now hold hands and make the pledge."
Childe was hesitant at first to touch Zhongli hands. He was nervous, the entire ceremony made his skin jittery. As if noticing what Childe felt, Zhongli once again gave him a reassuring smile while holding his hands. Zhongli's hands are warm just like Liyue during the day but also firm and as soft as glaze lily's petals.
"No matter death or life. Near or far. We pledged our word" Childe uttered the word as he locked eyes with Zhongli who stared at Childe with the same affectionate gaze.
"Hold your hand and grow old with you together." Zhongli finished the pledge as the crowd cheered in unison.
The room was filled with nothing but joy, the guests were busy whispering but Childe could only focus on Zhongli who stood tall and proud while holding his hands as he smiled at the guest, greeting them, receiving so many wishes and congratulations.
They could finally part ways with the guest after a whole hour. Childe's smile was also blooming throughout the festive night. As if the God of Love also felt their passion everything was lit up beautifully.
"How are you feeling? Do you feel tired?" Zhongli's voice was like honey and dew, too sweet, too alluring yet filled with concern.
"I'm fine. in fact, I'm beyond happy." now is the time for Childe to give the older reassuring smile.
"Then let's enjoy this night I’m so glad to be able to spend the rest of my life with you. I promise you will see so many beautiful sunrises together." Zhongli's smile was brighter than any star that shone that night.
"I promise you we'll also see so many gorgeous sunsets as well, together forever."
In response Zhongli kissed Childe passionately. in this very moment they let themselves felt like the lovers bestowed by the Gods, the night is surely still long.
