Chapter Text
Mio stared at the sight before her, which she held in her hands, as a drop of sweat trailed down her cheek. The challenge before her was one that could make the strongest of men go insane, the most patient of women start screaming their heads off, and the bravest of children cry.
For the incredible challenge she that currently in her hands was none other than...
"Bah!"
Her baby sister, Tohka, who she just now realized was a baby. More specifically, that she was a baby and Mio had no idea how to take care of her because Tohka was the first baby she's ever seen.
"Bah!"
"OK, no pressure Mio, you're just holding an incredibly young child whose so young she has as much of an idea of what she's doing as you. It shouldn't be too hard to figure this out." She told herself.
Right as she said that? Tohka suddenly began to scrunch her mouth, and started... dancing, maybe?
"Hey sis, what's going on with those... dance moves of yours?" Mio asked as she began sweating more.
Tohka didn't reply.
"Oh yeah, that one book said babies aren't able to talk. No pressure. I just have to figure out whatever you're doing, and then-" She trailed off.
As she tried to figure out what to do and what to say? Tohka's mouth opened as she let out a loud burp, blowing Mio's hair like it was the wind.
Mio blinked as it ended, unaware of her now slightly messy hair.
"OK, so that just happened. Good news it wasn't anything worse than that... for now at least." Mio said, laughing slightly as the panic began to settle in.
Tohka soon noticed something on the ground and clapped her hands, making a few noises as she kicked her legs towards it. Mio blinked a few times.
"Behind me?" She asked.
She turned around, noticing her smartphone on the ground. The smartphone that Shinji bought for her as a late birthday gift.
The same smartphone that could connect to the internet, and search up any question Mio had... including how to raise a baby.
"Bah!" Tohka giggled, as if she understood this.
Mio felt herself blush a little in embarrassment.
"Good thing no one was here to see that..." Mio whispered as she picked up the phone.
She turned it on and found a medical website, clicking on a section talking about babies.
"OK, now I'm-" She said, turning her head.
Mio paled as she saw Tohka wasn't anywhere nearby, realizing she forgot to keep one of her hands free. She quickly looked around to find her lost sister.
Her answer for where she went came as she heard the sound of a bear's growl. A bear that, at this moment, baby Tohka was innocently sitting in front of.
"Oh my god! Tohka, I'm coming!" She panicked.
The bear raised its claws at that moment, and Mio screamed as it came down fast enough that she wouldn't make it in time.
"Bah!"
Only for Tohka to catch the claw with her hand, surprising Mio and the bear, the latter of which sweated as Tohka held it in place without effort. Tohka then giggled as she punched the predator, with Mio staring in shock as the bear shot forward and knocked down a few dozen trees.
"She just... with a bear... through trees... like it was nothing." Mio slowly sputtered.
Mio was brought out of her funk as she felt something pat her leg, seeing Tohka had crawled back over to her, and the hand not patting her reach out as if to say she wanted to be picked up.
Mio let out a sigh as she did so.
"Tohka, what am I going to do with you?" She questioned, worried what kind of trouble she'd give her.
Tohka answered her by reaching out her hand towards her sister's face, as if trying to entertain herself.
Mio just smiled in response.

Biography:
Mio's story is a unique one, and I would know since her birth was in part caused by me. She was technically born 30 years ago, in a sense, when we created what was the original and only Sephira Crystal at the time, but she didn't technically come to life until more than a decade later, when her Crystal materialized the body of a 17-year old.
At first, she was no different than a newborn baby in mentality and couldn't communicate or think on her own, but she quickly began showing her incredible powers and potential when she managed to learn the Japanese language in only a day through nothing more than watching anime, reading manga, and playing video games.
That may have not seemed like much initially, but me, Ellen, and Elliot were all certain this was only the beginning. We were right, as soon she revealed an otherworldly intelligence that managed to pick of various miscellaneous skills in no time and at proficiency that sometimes exceeded the individuals she picked them up from, and then came the incident that proved just how powerful her Reiryoku truly made her... she was stung by a Box Jellyfish that had washed on the shore of a beach she visited with us. For those who are unaware? The toxins of a Box Jellyfish make it ranked as the most venomous animal on the planet that we know of, and it has enough venom to kill 60 adults. Said venom is known to cause extreme pain, paralysis, delirium, shock, cardiac arrest, and even death within mere minutes... and her body purged it in seconds! In fact, Mio merely thought it simply bit her till I explained otherwise!
Upon learning this, Mio came to a horrible realization tied to the unique nature of her birth. To elaborate further, Mio's Crystal was made using the potential of all life in nature that once existed, that currently exists, and will exist in the near future. In a sense, she represents infinity when applied to quantity in a limited container. Her stats above officially peak at 999, but if she were to decrease any of that power for whatever reason, it will naturally replenish itself over time. Think of it like a Smartphone that drains while in use, but then naturally recharges without being plugged in when you put it in sleep mode. This energy enhances not only her mind, but her body, and as such... Mio soon theorized that she might be truly immortal. That might sound nice at first, but modern media has made it quite clear how horrible that can be, especially if you don't have a way to self-terminate and start suffering.
My brother, I bet, knew this long before any of us did. Mio is smarter than him, so if even she can't figure out how to negate her seeming immortality. That means it may not be possible to kill her no matter what methods one tries, and if my brother were to somehow take this power for himself... there wouldn't be anything to stop him, which is why the fact Mio's managed to stay hidden from him has been a relief for me these past 17 years.
Another thing that proves her seeming immortality is how, after 17 years, her chronological age finally matches her biological age listed above, since none of the other Spirits have shown any signs of their cellular aging stopping or simply slowing. There is a possibility for them to have this power, but I'll need to have them take medical examinations regularly to be certain. For now, we'll act under the assumption they don't, especially since Mio likely wouldn't have given them powers if it meant they would become immortal in the process.
Her kindness and pacifistic nature are both major factors in why our war with DEM Industries has lasted as long as it has. I can't blame her for not fighting though, since with her powers... fighting back might be the worst thing she could do. I'll detail more on what I've observed of her powers during the one time since she went in hiding in the section below.
See, while Mio is capable of wiping out the DEM by herself if she wanted to? One thing she learned while living with the Takamiya family was that if she ever crossed the line with her powers and ended up doing something awful... then she might not know where to redraw it, if she even did at all. Essentially, she knows about the saying "It only takes one bad day", and takes it seriously. Luckily, even if she herself isn't directly fighting alongside us, Mio's creation of the ten new crystals she gave the girls shows she's still supporting us.
I have no idea when the day Mio will return to us in full will be, but based on what we've seen through Shinji and Mana's powers, it seems that day may be approaching. Though, that still leaves the one question... what exactly has she been doing these past two decades?
Powers and Abilities:
What makes the potential possibility of my brother stealing Mio's powers so terrifying is that we only know half as much as we don't know about them, including what among the little we have seen is naturally exclusive to her unique birth and what's a boon she gains from her Reiryoku itself. This includes her potential immortality and her intelligence.
For the abilities that have been noticed by my direct observations, Mio's elemental affinity as a Spirit is nature, due to how her powers seem to tie to life and creation. For one, she may be immortal, and was born from the potential of nature itself. Then there's the fact she was able to create ten new Sephira Crystals without needing the Spirit Formula like we did, or at least using it in the same way that led to the Eurasian Sky Disaster, at the minor cost of the powers they gave being a mere fraction of her own. I'm not as sure on how Shinji and Mana's powers fall under this since they don't have Sephira Crystals of their own and therefore will say nothing until I get more insight.
Like all Spirits, she possesses an Astral Dress and an Angel, though I believe she may have cemented the concept after manifesting them for the first time in her efforts to stop my brother's second try at his Genocide Wave plan a few years after she went on the run. Despite this, hers seem to be in leagues of their own. The best example of this is with her Astral Dress, as where it works as armor for the other Spirits, Mio's is more like an outright nullifier since I've seen it erase attacks before they could make contact. If there's a limitation to what it can negate? I have no idea what that said limit is.
Also, while the other girls' Astral Dresses are named after various names for God linked to the Sephirot, Mio's breaks this pattern as the name of hers is instead a reference to how she was born. Said name in question, which is normally spelt as "Shevirat ha-Kalim" instead of how its listed above, means "Breaking of the Vessels", and... is quite the apt description of what my brother did to cause the Eurasian Sky Disaster's explosion. Any more I have to say about that subject is on the Nibelcole's file, which details terms that don't apply to Mio, and would therefore be redundant if I were to mention them here.
When it comes to her Angels... well, that has an extra layer that even her Astral Dress lacks, since where the other Spirits all have one? She has three in total! From the little I've seen of them, it's my personal theory that she has a "default" Angel among the three, with the other two being the powers of that one when they lean more towards one of the terms in "Ayin and Yesh", which translate to "Nothing and Something", due to what I've visually seen each one to be capable of. I also theorize that the powers of her Angels were based on her pacifism.
Her first Angel, and what I see as her so-called "default" Angel, is known as Ain Soph, which takes the form of a mechanical tree with flowers blooming across its form that seemingly reaches high enough to pierce the sky itself. The reason behind why I theorize this is considered her main Angel is because its power allows her to rewrite the rules of reality in a given area, which changes the landscape around it into a monochrome, chessboard-like form. The best comparison I can make is the Territory employed by some Realizers being the Flip Phone to Mio's Smartphone in how this works, since she used it to bind people who got too close with little to no effort at all.
Despite seemingly being defensive, Ain Soph's alternative form of Anaph shreds such a thought in seconds, as Mio can command the tree's branches to move and act like swords. She's used it more for parrying blows, but what I've seen from examining those blades makes it clear that these sharpened branches can slice more than most swords can. The only thing that might match their sharpness is Tohka's Sandalphon... and I have no plans to confirm that anytime soon.
Next up is her second Angel, known as Ain Soph Aur, which takes the form of a giant flower with light particles in place of pollen. Once it appears, Mio can command the light within to fly out and then target people with enough force to easily incapacitate them... and this is why I say her pacifism has an influence. Can you imagine if she didn't have that and said light particles were instead fatal? Said particles work on organic and machine alike, but have a set level of strength, as those with strong enough Territories (or simply have an Astral Dress, presumably) will be unaffected.
However, that then changes when Henet, its alternative form, comes into play. At the cost of shrinking the flower to the size of her hand and losing its AOE range, Mio is able to unleash a concentrated beam of light particles that bypass any form of defense that was originally capable of defending against Ain Soph Aur.
Finally, there's her third Angel, known as Ain, which is... maybe a seed? I honestly can't tell. See, this Angel seems to be a mass of light gathered at a single point, which she then unleashes. Unlike the light particles of Ain Soph Aur, which were solely offensive in nature, the light of Ain seems to be solely defensive in nature. When she used Ain, which was truly just once compared to the multiple uses of her other Angel and their alternative forms, it completely erased all the magic in the area! Matter and energy are things people say can't be created or destroyed... and yet Ain seemingly achieved just that with anything magical. I theorize this is partially why my brother hasn't tried a third attempt at his Genocide Wave plan, because he can't. I discovered any data I had on the Genocide Wave plans, as a precaution after Fumie and Rintaro stopped the first one, had vanished after she used it.
One of the few limits Mio has is that she can't be everywhere at once. If my brother had tried this plan again, he could have made multiple towers so Mio would have been forced to visit each one and set them up with multiple defenses keep her stalled. Since he hasn't tried it again or given any hints he will, I think that data was erased because Mio wiped out everything he had on his end as well. It's also possible that Ain may have also done something else to our systems to keep us from finding where Mio's been hiding.
Like I said above, this is simply what we know, and even then we don't have enough information to actually confirm what's true or not. Shinji and Mana's situation is further proof of this. All we know for sure is that she's on our side. I just hope the mysteries we still have don't work against us...
