The heavy bass was vibrating through the air, making it almost impossible to listen to all the conversations which were happening at their table.
Joel tried to follow at least one of the different discussions going on between his friends but couldn't focus on anything besides the few bits from Niko's talk with, well, it wasn't really clear whom he was talking to, but he was definitely talking with someone. Either way bits from the conversation were reaching Joel's ear and he didn't like what he heard.
“Seems like you're turning quite a few dudes around, Porko, congrats I guess.”
Joel stiffened in his seat, so Niko was talking to Joonas and their conversation showed really well that Niko might have had a drink too much already.
“Why's that? Don't think you can turn anyone, Niko. Either they are straight or they are not. It's really as simple as that,” Joonas answered.
“Oh, yeah? Well, what about Joel then? Just testing the waters or was he trying to copy me by making out with you, hm?”
Niko giggled, obviously joking, but it was the wrong topic to joke about right now, at least with Joel around.
“Niko, that… that's not-” Joonas started but was interrupted by Joel getting up and looking at them.
“You know what, Niko?! You're not as funny as you think you are. And this shit sure isn't a joke you fucking idiot!” Joel hissed before turning on his heel and walking out of the club as fast as he could.
Niko blinked dumbfounded. “Did I say something wrong? He needs to chill. This was obviously a joke.”
Joonas rolled his eyes. “God, you can be so stupid sometimes, Niko…”
It only dawned on Niko the next day, when he was sober again, what had actually been going on when he had accidentally walked in on Joel and Joonas kissing. Now Joel's reaction made sense and he felt so damn stupid for making a joke about it, quite obviously hurting at least Joel on the way.
He needed to apologize and he needed to do it now. Oh, and he definitely needed to sort out the mess that was going on in his head after finding this new piece of information.
Was he jealous? No way!
Or was he..?
