There was a ring on the floor, dangerously close to the drain, Harry Potter, ten-year-old unwanted resident of the Dursley household, spotted it on his long walk back to the house, all by himself as his Uncle refused to pick him up in the car as he did with Dudley.
Harry normally didn't mind, as it meant that he had at least a little bit of time outside to himself where his Cousin wouldn't try to beat him up, but today it was raining heavily.
The ring called to him, as the sound of water trickling into the drain threatened to push it in, frowning, he reached down and picked it up.
"You," the ring called out gently, as Harry's head seemed to grow fuzzy, "you will obey me."
And as he stood up, slipping the ring onto his finger, everything changed.
The Ring
Harry Potter was... odd.
It was the one thing the entirety of Wizarding Britain could agree on, something that they all collectively decided was likely due to his survival of the Killing Curse, he was the only known survivor, after all, so who knew what that did to a person.
One moment he would be happy and helpful, the next plotting your murder, or even world domination, not that anyone could tell.
Albus Dumbledore had worried at one point, that it had been the Horcrux taking over, but after running a few tests when he'd been in the hospital wing, had been shocked to discover that the dark magic was gone.
The boy could terrify and inspire people in a way that reminded people of Voldemort before he'd gone insane, and as such, people flocked to him, looking to him in the hopes that he would be the next Dark Lord, this time one that would win.
But the boy didn't want that, what he wanted was to learn.
The Ring
To create a body for an unbodied spirit was difficult, not just because of the ritual, which required many rare ingredients, but also because of its legality, which was to say, completely illegal, hiding what he was doing was tough, and as the years went by, he felt like he was failing, despite his somewhat steady process.
Luckily his Master was understanding, especially so, considering he was a child, and not an adult, and he needed time to learn what he was doing, lest he mess it up and create an inadequate body.
During the summers his relatives left him alone now, terrified after his Master showed them his power, which although they were limited due to Harry's young body, was still immense.
As the years drew on, so too did Harry's understanding of the subject, but one year he was put on hold, as he was forced to hunt down Voldemort's Horcruxes, destroying them with help from Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger.
After the hunt, there was a showdown with the man and his followers at Hogwarts, which ended quickly in Harry's favour.
As soon as it was over, he threw himself into his studies, no longer worried about any interruptions.
Eventually, he was ready.
The Ring
Creating a body was surprisingly easy, Harry mused as his Master rose from the ritual circle in a brand-new body.
The man hummed as he inspected it, and then turned and walked over to him, a grin on his face, "you've done well," he informed him, grabbing the clothes that Harry held out to him, and quickly dressing.
Harry ignored the fearful gasps of his friends who had broken into the room mid ritual, wanting to know where he'd been disappearing to, their interruption had caused him to hex them into place, before continuing.
The man grinned and pressed a kiss to his forehead, before grabbing his arm, "it's time to go now, we have things to do."
Harry hummed, following him out of the room.
He would, of course, obey.
