Jamie’s hand tightened around his knife, almost as if he was about to whip it out of its sheath. Here was where he delivered the killing blow.
“I wouldn’t go back,” he said. “Not for anythin’ in the world.”
He’d been right, tucked away in that little rowboat, hoping the Doctor would lead him home. He just hadn’t known where home really was.
“Not for anything in the world?” Eilidh repeated, so slow and measured that it sent a shiver down his spine. “Not even to save the Doctor?”
When a creature with the ability to see through time gives Jamie a glimpse of what's coming for him and the Doctor, he's faced with an impossible choice - to leave the Doctor, or lose him.

He winces, freezing for a moment and listening for the creature, but the shuffling and wet noises don’t cease. Dread drips down Gillion’s spine, sinking like a stone within him; something is wrong here. Slowly, hesitantly, Gillion takes the last few steps up onto the deck, holding his sword ready before him.
He wishes he had stayed below.
