A glitch took the code by surprise. It was something it had never experienced before. Average glitches are easy to deal with but this was beyond what the master computer could handle.
How was this possible?
The code altered and copied itself at a different location without warning. AM then awoke in a horribly bright and childishly colourful circus. Meanwhile, Caine noticed an error in his code and when he gave himself a reminder to fix it later, he suddenly transferred to a boring world devoid of colour.
Or unknowingly to everyone trapped inside, the circus had been running for over a century and suddenly an error swaps the two only AI entities remaining...

They could occasionally get him to nod or shake his head to things, which is how they get him out of the rotted clothes he had been buried in, cleaned the mud from his hair and skin. Looking at him made Shelby's heart break almost as bad as when he had died. It felt like his body had been hollowed out and something else had settled inside, so unlike the person she had fallen in love with all those years ago.

This hidden vale could have been the entire universe, in that moment. Everything in Xiao's being was pinpointing onto the expression on Rex Lapis's face.
Rex Lapis closed his other hand over Xiao's and told him, "I promise."
Slow-burn Xiao / Zhongli romance, heavily focusing on how Xiao recovers from the torment he endures from his former master. His traumatic memory splits into two selves: Xiao and Red Xiao. In order to become the Conqueror of Demons, Xiao must first conquer the demon of his own past.
