The room was dark as is, nevermind once the lights were turned off. An eye cracked open just the barest bit. A lone red iris caught the reflection of several stars that shone down from the room’s black walls. The stars smelled dimly of chalk and warm crayons. They child shifted and nuzzled at the comforter, heavy and soft, covered in pink and light blue stripes. It smelled like home.
They then stiffened when they heard a sound.
