Chapter Text
"Shit shit shit" heavy breathing filled the air as a certain raven-head boy ran from a mob of living dead. He quickly turned to an aisle and hid behind the dumpster. "I'm out of ammo" he mumbled looking at the gun he's holding and cursing himself mentally.
He hid for a couple of minutes before standing up, he looked to his left -a dead end and to his right which to his surprise was around. Without wasting any more time, he ran towards a diner. He quickly went in -not forgetting to lock the door -he moved some heavy objects he could find and put it behind the door. He let out a heavy sigh before roaming his eyes at the place. It’s quite big for a diner, many- if not all tables are broken, as well as chairs. His stomach growls, completely forgetting that it’s been at least three days since he last ate a heavy meal, all he had was water and bread he could carry around. “All right. Time to check this place.”
He dropped his bag and rifle on the counter. He grabbed his flashlight -who’s holding for it’s dear life with little to empty battery left. Looking around and trying to analyze the place, it was relatively wide but not wide enough for a hallway. He flashed his torch around with his right hand, while his left hand held the dagger. A couple of minutes passed and he saw no living creature, a little disappointed he is knowing that this is probably the hundredth place he went into without bumping or seeing a human. a complete human.
As the sun is setting, he rummages through the fridge hoping to find something edible that wouldn't take so much time to make. And to his luck, he found some boxes of stocked noodles, cup noodles, canned goods, drinks and drinks. "I don't think I'm gonna be back here though..." He thought, so he stood straight up and looked for a certain object. "Oh! Found you" he said as his eyes landed on a bag that he found, with a corpse laying on the floor. "Do you mind if I have this? No? Thank you then" he whispered. Grinning.
He checked the expiration date first, not wanting to poison himself before putting the goods in the bag. "I should eat now before I pass out, but I don't think they have hot water in here, or at least a pot to boil water" he mumbled. Dropping the bag on the counter that is now filled with goods, he opened every cabinet he thought would fit a pot. Below the sink he found, "a pan? I can use this. “ Walking quickly, he turned on the stove, a sigh of relief when there's still gas left. He poured the water onto the pan and covered it with a plate. "I don't know what day it is," he said looking through the window, seeing it's already dark. " I don't even know what time it is, is it night already?"
Hearing the boiling water, he turned his head to the stove. He grabbed the noodles, opened it and put it in the boiling water with the seasonings, letting it cook for a couple of minutes before turning off the stove. "Oh shoot I don't, I- I'll just eat it in the pan" he said, forgetting to look for a plate beforehand. "Fuck I forgot my chopsticks, stupid stupid Yuichi- oh, here it is" he grabs the packets of chopsticks from a cup, opening one before separating it. He used it to blow the steam coming from the noodles, smiling at the satisfaction of finally eating again.
At least two minutes passed before he quickly finished his food, not forgetting to drink water. Not pleasing his hunger, he decided to cook more. He didn't know when he'd get to eat again so he would be greedy for now. After finishing his meal he grabs all the chopsticks that are in the cup before putting it in his bag.
"I don't think they have bullets in here, might as well look for a new weapon" he mumbled looking around. His eyes settled on a knife block, walking towards it he grabbed the longest knife -at least thirteen-inches long "oh wow, this is uhmm, too big for a knife huh.” Not wanting to mistakenly cut himself, he wrapped some cloth around it to avoid some accidents that would lead to unfortunate events. He grabbed the 2 other smaller knives not longer than six-inches, wrapping it in cloth as well before putting it in his bag for emergencies. "oh wow I feel like I'm a character from PUBG" he giggled at the thought.
"Is that a-- why is there a bat in this place?" He walked towards the wall in which the baseball bat was hanging, grabbed it, and swung it in his arms, "damn I look hot." he said as he caught sight of his reflection on a tile. He looked around more, thinking if he could find useful objects. “Are there batteries here? There should be. A flashlight would be better, mines are draining already.”
It's been a day since the raven-head went to the diner, he could've stayed there and lived for who knows how long but he didn't. He still has this tiny bit of hope lingering in him, a hope to see at least one human alive walking as well. It's been 57 days since he saw a living being and then that's it. He doesn't even know the guy’s name as both of them were being chased, completely separating them. But he still remembers the genesis of this. He can still remember it being clear and vivid as if it was just yesterday.
The government teamed up with scientists to find a medicine that can help people move on from the longing feeling they carry. A medicine that brings back the dead. Who would want that? Those insane people of course.
People would do anything when it comes to their loved ones. Even paying millions and billions of money just to have a tiny bit of that good. When the medicine came out, everybody praised the government, them having the credits and all. The people went crazy for that fluid, costing billions of yen just for 1 shot of it. Everything happened so fast and just before he knew it.
Chaos.
Lots of screaming and running everywhere he didn't have much time to think and went like what others are doing. He panicked.
“I should drop this bag, my back’s killing the shit out of me,” he groaned. He doesn't know how far he came, but he knows it’s long enough to the point his body started aching. “The Gods really aren't merciful.” he muttered, looking up at the blazing sun. It was a miracle that ever since leaving the diner, he has still come across a living-dead.
He looked straight ahead and saw someone running towards him, he squinted his eyes. He can identify a blond-head running, no- full on sprinting towards him. If he can peer more he can see the blond opening his mouth as if saying something. With fifty-seven days of last seeing a human, he didn’t pay attention to what the other was screaming about and instead ran towards the blond meeting him half way. “Hey!!! Oh my gosh it’s been so long since I-”
“RUN!!”
‘What-” as if he was knocked off a dream, he saw a mob of zombies running towards them. Not having a fast reflex, the raven-head froze on his spot. If it was not for the blond grabbing his wrist and pulling him, he would've been dead on the spot.
“Use your feet!” The blond yelled. “Uh yeah! Sure ! I can do that, yes.” As if he was pulled into the reality, he just noticed the man holding his wrist. And he also just noticed a zombie relatively close to biting his ankles off. Realizing the blond probably having trouble pulling him, hence the slow pace of their running. He muttered a quick apology, grabbing the other’s arm instead and pulling him to run faster. “Wait! I can’t- my legs can’t-”
“Withstand it for a while blondie, we need to find a spot to kill this fuckers.” he yelled. The blond squinted his eyes before taking a deep breath. He let out a choked, muffled moan before picking his weight and running faster. “Let’s climb that tree!” The raven-head said, pointing at a cercidiphyllum tree. The blond looked at where the other was pointing at, “we’re gonna climb that?!” he asked, bewildered. Cercidiphyllum is a tree not suitable for climbing, and he isn't sure if those branches can hold the both of them. “I have a bat and knives on me! We can knock them out and climb a tree or do you have an ammo with you?!”
“I only have cartridges!”
“That’s perfect!”
As they got closer, the raven-head turned his head and not to his surprise the crowd grew in size. Fuck!. “Hey!! Grab on me!!!” The raven-head turned to look at the man and saw him already on top of a branch with a hand holding up for him. He saw a movement below the other and saw a couple of zombies already reaching their hand to the blond. He ran faster towards them, the fast motion caught the zombies under the branch of their attention and instead walked towards him at a much slower pace. Having an idea, he grabbed his bag “Hey blondie! Catch this!!” He threw his bag towards the blond, it was heavier than expected but he still caught it. With the heavyweight free from his back, the raven head ran towards the zombies meeting him. With all his might he kicked the first one knocking him down and stepped up on it. Using the other zombies as a boost up tool, he grabbed it’s shoulder, pushing himself up and into the blond’s awaiting arms. The blond, having the bag down, gave everything he could to pull the raven. “How are you so-” “Fuck!” Opening his eyes, the blond saw the other looking down at his foot. He gazed at it and saw a zombie hanging from him. The raven-head threw a fit and started kicking the living-dead’s face in hopes of getting it to let him go. With the blond using both of his arms to grab a branch and the raven holding onto the blond’s leg, he eventually got pulled up on top. “Give me the ammos!”
“I have a pistol on me!” The blond lifted up his shirt and removed the pistol on his waistband. He gave it to the raven-head, who quickly grasped it. The blond didn’t trust himself with shooting weapons after an unfortunate event. So he just stared at the other man, who was shooting all the undead below them. With the sun setting, it didn’t take them long to be done. They both let out a sigh of relief. “So. what’s the name”
“I’m Mikaela. You can call me Mika.” Mikaela said panthing. The raven-head nodded at him, “my name’s Yuichiro. Yuu for short.” he replied. The sun has completely set up, so they used a flashlight on a low setting so it doesn’t catch that much attention. “Shit. “ Mikaela groaned. He gripped at his thigh, which he didn’t notice bleeding. The sound grabbed Yuichiro’s attention. “Fuck you’re bleeding why didnt you say anything?!” The raven-head grumbled. “It’s no big deal. I can live with it.” the blond beamed at him. Yuichiro rolled his eyes before rummaging through his bag. “Live with it?! I can practically see your bones!”
