Work Text:
Sometimes Katsuki wonders if Shouto knows exactly how attractive he is.
There really should be a fine line between being completely oblivious and deviously deceiving people of his innocence. Katsuki is always on the precipice of trying to figure his boyfriend out. It’s been five years since they started dating. By all intents and purposes, Katsuki should know Shouto inside and out. But Shouto surprises him everyday – it’s what keeps their relationship interesting.
However, whenever Katsuki catches him entertaining the advances of some schmuck who thinks they have even the smidgen of a chance with Shouto, it’s nearly impossible to keep a level head.
Like right now, Shouto is politely giving a guy directions to the nearest bookstore. It should be harmless if it weren’t for the man’s obvious attempts to flirt with Shouto. Katsuki is counting the seconds down before he could intervene.
“Anyone ever told you that you have beautiful eyes?”
“Eh? Oh, thanks. Anyway, if you turn the corner you should be able—”
“I could get lost in them, ya know?”
Katsuki visibly gags and decides he needs to put an end to this before the poor dude says something obviously copied from some cheap romance novel. So, he slings an arm around Shouto’s shoulders and narrows his eyes at the stranger. Immediately, the guy’s next compliment dies in his throat as Shouto turns his head to give Katsuki a wide smile. Katsuki enjoys watching the light of hope die in another man’s eyes when Shouto places a quick kiss to Katsuki’s cheek with a light giggle.
“Well, I hope you got the directions.” Shouto places his hand on Katsuki’s instinctively. “Don’t get lost, okay? Tokyo can get confusing if you’re not used to the different intersections.”
“Yeah, buddy.” Katsuki grins all fake and saccharine sweet. It looked downright demonic. “Don’t get lost.”
Thankfully, the guy got the message and promptly ran in the complete opposite direction of the bookstore. Shouto frowned and tilted his head in confusion. “That’s not where the bookstore is…”
Katsuki chuckles and kisses the side of Shouto’s head. “Don’t worry about it, baby.”
Of course, it should have been said that Katsuki can also be oblivious to some of the most obvious things about his boyfriend.
That being — Shouto is way more protective than him.
On their way back to the car from the grocery store, someone rolled up in a truck that practically screamed TINY PENIS DRIVES THIS. Katsuki was ready for anything. Random assholes always choose Shouto as a target just because they think he can’t fight back.
Well, they’re about to be proven wrong. And Katsuki will soon be reminded of how protective his boyfriend truly is.
“Hey there, pretty little thing! You going somewhere?” The unfortunate man rolled down his window to blatantly gawk at Shouto as he packed up all their groceries in the car. Shouto – as kind as ever – only turns around and gives a warm smile.
“Just going home, sir.”
“Sir? I’d prefer it if you called me daddy.”
Katsuki practically slammed the trunk door closed and marched over to the car. He could hear Shouto call his name but he’s had it up to here with random extras trying to make moves on his boyfriend. Especially when it’s disgusting asshole creeps like this unfortunate sucker with the cheap flame decal on the side of his truck. God, what was he? A discount Pimp my Ride?
As soon as he was close enough, Katsuki crossed his arms and glared daggers at the man. “Stop catcalling my fucking boyfriend, you’re so far below him you’re embarrassing yourself.”
“Aw, does the little prince need his knight in shining armor?” The man had the audacity to cackle. Katsuki was absolutely livid at this point but the man only turned his attention back to Shouto who was hovering carefully behind his boyfriend. “You know you can do so much better than him, sweetheart! Let me show you what a real man is like–”
Suddenly, Katsuki was pushed aside and he watched with wide eyes as Shouto reached into the car window and gripped the catcaller’s shirt into his fist. Katsuki barely even had time to react before Shouto pulled his hand back and slapped the guy across the face.
“Shouto?!” Was all Katsuki could say before Shouto gripped the man’s shirt with both hands now and started practically hissing at him.
“You don’t get to talk to my boyfriend like that, you deformed thumb looking ass.” The fire in Shouto’s eyes was basically burning into the poor guy’s wretched soul and all he could do was stutter and plead for Shouto to let him go. But he was having none of it. Katsuki knew that he wouldn’t go as far as to send the guy to the hospital but he’s got the emergency number on speed dial just in case.
In any case, Katsuki finds this extremely hot.
Of course, Shouto was not done yet. “I’d rather get buried six feet underground than hop in the backseat of a guy with a head that looks like an uncircumsized penis.”
“Hey, man what the fuck—” The quip about his head shape got the man to snap out of his stupor for a second just to retaliate. But Shouto just used his grip on the man’s shirt to push him back into his car with a grunt.
“Do us all a favor, egghead, and get out of my fucking sight.” Shouto then pulled Katsuki in close, a possessive hand on his waist as he kept glaring at the man. “If I hear one more quip about my boyfriend, you’ll be sorry you ever crossed me.”
Not even a second later, the cheap truck was speeding away down the parking lot ramp and out of sight. Katsuki blinked several times before turning to look at his boyfriend, whose features were now relaxed and back to his usual happy self. Katsuki opened his mouth to comment on what just happened but ultimately decided against it. It would do them better not to talk about it.
“I’m hungry.” Shouto ended up saying after a few seconds and Katsuki let out a laugh. Of course he was. For what he just did, his baby deserves a god damn feast.
Katsuki places a quick kiss on Shouto’s lips before leading him back to the car. “I’ll cook you whatever you want, baby.”
So maybe Shouto isn’t always aware of how attractive he is and how men flock towards him like a moth to a flame. And that’s perfectly fine. At least Katsuki knows Shouto will not hesitate to throw hands for him.
…
Maybe he’s rubbing off on him a little too much.
