Work Text:

It was hard not to fall for Park Sunghoon. He was the perfect man Sunoo had ever met.

He’s tall…

Sunoo sighed for the nth time already, trying to reach the top shelf of the library for the book he needed for his calculus. He’s been trying to find for any ladder to use but he couldn’t find any. Grunting, Sunoo tiptoed again, arms reaching out to its fullest when he felt a presence behind, chest pressed against his back, then a hand going over his, getting the book he was trying to reach. When he tilted his head up, he met Sunghoon’s smiling eyes, teasing, patting Sunoo’s head with the book. Sunoo rolled his eyes, crossing his arms before turning around, a smile painted on his face.

“I think we need to buy more milk at home.” Sunghoon said, giving Sunoo the book.

“Shut up.”

He’s handsome…

It was already 11 in the evening when Sunoo finished his paper which he needed to submit in 2 days. Yawning, he took off his earbuds, and turned to his back only to find Sunghoon already asleep on the couch Sunoo was leaning on, the book he was reading laying flat on his chest. Sunghoon decided to accompany Sunoo saying he has a book to finish.

'He must have been tired.' Sunoo thought to himself. Sunghoon is a part of their soccer team's varsity player and training must have been exhausting since the tournament is near.

Sunoo moved his body to properly face Sunghoon, to wake him up after successfully getting the back from his hand and putting it on the table.

"Hyung," There was no response so Sunoo slightly shook his shoulders. "Sunghoon-hyung, wake up." The older one answered with a whine making Sunoo sigh.

Sunoo crossed his arms on the space beside Sunghoon's head, leaning his cheek on it, shamelessly staring at the older one. He's really handsome, Sunoo thought. Sunoo would never get tired complimenting Sunghoon on how cool and handsome he is.

"Wow, so handsome," were the first words Sunoo s1aid to Sunghoon the first day they met in their shared apartment. Sunghoon replied with an awkward chuckle and a, "Uh, thank you?"

It was not the first time he stared at Sunghoon's face while he's sleeping. Jungwon once told him he was creepy but he replied, "I'm only appreciating beauty— he's like a painting worth staring at, at museums."

Biting his lower lip and feeling a bit brave, he lifted one of his hands and ran it softly through Sunghoon's soft hair. It was not the first time he did that. Sunghoon actually loves it when Sunoo plays with his hair, especially when he lies his head down on Sunoo's thighs to sleep.

He then moved his hand down to lightly trace Sunghoon's attractive, thick eyebrows, with his fingers his pretty doe eyes, his tall, pointed where his mole is situated which made him more handsome, his smooth cheeks, and last but not the lips his soft, sinful lips. He let his finger stay there for a bit then pulled his hand back before he got caught.

Sunghoon was so handsome that people turned their heads to take a glance at him whenever he walked their way. He witnessed girls and even guys confessing their feelings to Sunghoon which he politely declined.

And Sunoo, Sunoo was so lucky that he could stay right beside Sunghoon no matter what time of day.

He’s smart…

Sunoo knocked on Sunghoon’s door before turning the knob around to it. There he was, sitting on his swivel chair while busily punching his keyboard with his fingers as he played. Sunoo was about to turn around and leave seeing Sunghoon busy when he heard his name being called by the latter.

"Sunoo," Sunghoon took off his headphones, turning to Sunoo. "What's wrong?" His eyes then focused on the books Sunoo was hugging. He signaled Sunoo to come inside which the younger did, slowly closing the door behind him. Sunghoon typed something on his keyboard before exiting the game and it honestly made Sunoo feel bad.

"You didn't have to stop playing. I can just come back later" Sunoo said, awkwardly standing in front of Sunghoon's closed door.

The latter only smiled at him, already moving from his computer to sit on the floor where his center table was situated, tapping the empty space beside him to make Sunoo sit. Sunoo sighed and did what he was told, laying down the book he was holding.

" Students would line up for me to be their tutor. Just be happy I'm teaching you for free." Sunghoon grinned, earning a light punch on his shoulder.

"Cocky." Sunoo replied, opening the topic he's having problems about.

Needless to say, Sunoo aced his exam.

Thanks to Sunghoon.

He’s caring…

Everytime Sunoo stayed up late to finish his papers, Sunghoon would make him a cup of hot coffee paired with Sunoo's favorite cookie, which Sunghoon never forgot to buy everytime their cookie jar ran out of it. If Sunoo got tired from his hapkido training, body slumped on their couch, Sunghoon would pull Sunoo up for him to take a bath Sunghoon had prepared for the younger. When Sunoo got out of the bath, his favorite tteokbeokki and fried chicken would already be served on the table. After he ate, Sunghoon would massage his legs while they're watching movies on their couch, Sunoo lying down on it with his legs on Sunghoon's thighs.

And last but not the least, Sunoo realized that taking care of a sick Sunoo is more important than anything else to Sunghoon.

There was one time when Sunoo woke up from his sleep and he was feeling a little too cold. He could hear someone speaking but he was too tired to open his eyes. Then he felt it… headache. ‘Fuck,’ he cursed in his thoughts. He finally remembered how he ran under the rain last night because he totally forgot his umbrella despite the constant reminders from Sunghoon that the forecast said it was going to rain… and it did.

Sunoo stirred, groaning feeling his headache worsening now that he was awake. “Sunoo’s already awake. yeah, I'll call you later.” He heard Sunghoon's saying, then felt the older man sitting in the space beside him so he opened his eyes to look at the latter.

"How are you feeling?" Sunghoon asked, running his fingers through Sunoo's hair, reaching for the towel to wipe the beads of sweat on Sunoo's forehead.

Sunoo didn't reply though. He noticed Sunghoon's all dressed-up and was probably about to leave. Oh right. Sunoo remembered Sunghoon telling him he has somewhere to go.

"Hyung, I'm feeling fine." Sunoo pats the older's hand in assurance. He said that but his voice was groggy, completely unjustifying what he just said. "You can leave—"

Sunghoon pressed a finger on Sunoo's lips to stop him from speaking. "I'm taking care of you today. I just can't leave you here knowing you're sick and alone." The older one then pats his cheek, taking the thermometer to check his temperture, sighing when a scorching 38°C flashed on the screen. It was obvious to Sunoo, from the way Sunghoon was frowning, brows meeting up in the middle that Sunghoon wanted to scold him for forgetting his umbrella and not telling the latter so he ran under the rain instead.

"I'll make you porridge so that you can drink your medicine right after." Sunghoon placed back the thermometer on the table before facing Sunoo once again, leaning in to press a light kiss on the younger's forehead. "You can go back to sleep. I'll wake you up when the food is ready."

Sunghoon casually stood up, leaving Sunoo in his room blinking in daze and confusion. What the fuck just happened? Sunoo thinks his temperature soard up to 40. Now, how the fuck could he sleep?

It was not hard when falling for Park Sunghoon.

Even the nicest person Sunoo knew in his whole life fell in love with Sunghoon.

"I heard Jake-hyung asked Sunghoon-hyung out yesterday." Riki says as he places his tray of food on their lunch table. "Did you know about this?" Riki asks Sunoo who is just staring at him.

"Uh, no. Sunghoon-hyung didn't mention anything about that." Sunoo replies then he sees Jungwon side-eyeing him. He recalls what was happening in their apartment yesterday and Sunghoon was just the same as usual… clingy, nuisance, loud. But who is he for Sunghoon to share his love life with? He is just his junior, living with him in their apartment for 2 years.

His friends know about how he feels towards Sunghoon; he is not just his hyung, he is someone he likes, or maybe someone he is falling in love with. There were times when their friends teased them for being such a domestic couple and Sunoo would blush while Sunghoon shushes them and tells them to stop their teasing.

Sunoo is aware that Sunghoon does treat him differently than the others. He haven't seen Sunghoon hug Jay, his childhood best friend, nor kiss his cheeks or forehead, and not even cuddling. But Sunghoon always did that with him like it was the most natural thing to do.

Sunghoon always make him feel special.

So when he sees Jake and Sunghoon hugging tightly at the gym before Sunghoon's practice, the latter smiling widely, Sunoo thought maybe he wasn't really special at all.

"Sunoo, it's been 3 days already." Jungwon complains as he watches Sunoo murdering his mint choco ice cream with a spoon. "Sunghoon-hyung has been asking me when you will go home." And yet, he didn't receive any reply. Jungwon sighed and went straight to his room anyways.

It's been 3 days since Sunoo stayed in Jungwon's apartment after that fateful day when he found Jake and Sunghoon hugging sweetly in the gym. His heart was broken, yes but who was he to get jealous? He's only Sunghoon's flatmate.

But despite knowing that fact, Sunoo became petty and avoided Sunghoon with all his might. He even ignored his calss and texts and tried his best for Sunghoon not to find him.

Not until 2 days later, he found out from Jungwon that Jay told him Jake was actually seeing Heeseung after Jay caught them having sickeningly sweet breakfast together.

"I thought he asked Sunghoon-hyung out?" Sunoo asked, confused.

"Uh… turned out he was just practicing?"

Sunoo wanted to curse himself for being so over dramatic.

Not that his pride is as high as the eifel tower, but Sunoo can't go home not until he can find a valid lie as to why he ignored Sunghoon with all his might to the point of not returning to their apartment. He cannot just straight up say that he thought he and Jake were together so he got jealous even if he has no right to. That would be like revealing what he truly felt towards the older and he cannot have him knowing that.

"Maybe Sunghoon-hyung likes you back," Jungwon once said while they were rom-com movies they could find in Netflix.

"That's like saying Kaori's going to be alive by the end of Your Lie in April." Sunoo snorted, hearing Jungwon sigh beside him.

So yes, it's been 3 days, and a weekend, and he's still camping Jungwon living's room— but hey, he's contributing for their meals! He's also running out of the clothes to wear since he never intended to stay that long in Jungwon's. And although Sunghoon stopped calling, he still sends Sunoo chats which the latter didn't dare to open them.

As he mulls over his life decisions on Jungwon's couch, Jungwon emerged from his room all dressed up and ready to go. And before Sunoo could ask where he is going since it's alredy 4 in the afternoon, the doorbell rang.

"And I think that is my cue to leave. I'll be out for dinner!" Jungwon waves a goodbye to Sunoo, who mouthed to take care, then went straight to the door.

Sunoo pouted when Jungwon just left him alone to think about his life crisis— more like a love life crisis. Really though, he doesn't know how to face Sunghoon without the older one asking him why he just suddenly ran away and avoided him. He couldn't just say he was under the weather when he was talking to everyone except Sunghoon.

Sunoo places the tub of ice cream on the table and lies down on the couch, thinking until he falls asleep.

Sunoo wakes up to the smell of his favorite tteokbokki. He's still in the state of waking up when he heard the sound of sizzling— and since when did Jungwon learn how to cook? Wait— Am I still at Jungwon's??? Confused, Sunoo sits up abruptly causing his head to spin a little before he focuses on his surrounding. Okay, so he is still in Jungwon's apartment. So who the fuck is in the kitchen? Jungwon has a dinner date and he is pretty sure Jungwon in the kitchen is not a disaster.

And when Sunoo finally decided to go check on who was in the kitchen, he wishes he just stayed in the living room instead and fakes his sleep. Because there, in Jungwon's kitchen is the man he had been avoiding for three days, wearing an apron while cooking dinner. Probably their dinner.

Sunghoon still has his back on him and Sunoo has all the chances to run away but he doesn't know why his feet stay rooted in their place. And when Sunghoon finally turns off the stove and turns around with a plate of kimchi fried rice on his hand, Sunoo knows that, yes this is it, this is the moment of truth.

Their eyes locked when Sunghoon was placing the plate on the table and Sunoo grips the hem of his shirt because oh how much he misses his hyung, his eyes sting because of the tears that are threatening to spill.

"Jungwon gave me the key." Sunghoon says as he sets the table for both of them. "And knowing you, you'll most likely fall asleep and wake up late so I made dinner. You're probably hungry, right?" Sunghoon smiles at him and it is the last straw to break before the dam in Sunoo's eyes opens; Sunoo cries.

Why is Sunghoon like this? Sunoo avoided him, ignored him, and yet he still thinks about his wellness. Sunghoon should be mad and not treat him kindly.

"Sunoo," Sunghoon calls his name with so much softness and Sunoo wipes the tears in his eyes and looks at Sunghoon once again only to find him with his arms spreading wide. "Come here."

Sunoo did not need to think twice.

Sunghoon really is home.

After Sunoo cried in Sunghoon's arm, he found himself on the older one's lap, caged between his two strong arms and being spoon fed. Sunoo could have asked what Sunghoon was doing but he let him be, scared that the question would be thrown back at him.

Their dinner was uneventful except for the shy glances and shy smiles they threw at each other which made Sunoo curious what was going on in Sunghoon's head.

Sunoo, though, was glad that Sunghoon didn't force him to spill the reasons why he was ignoring the latter. He knew he needed to tell Sunghoon about it sooner or later and not leave him in the dark. But not now. Not when Sunghoon was being extra clingy that one of his arms was wrapped around Sunoo's waist, not wanting to be apart from Sunoo.

When Jungwon arrived, Sunoo's bag was already on Sunghoon's shoulder, firm on his intent of bringing Sunoo home. Jungwon then later texted Sunoo saying, "You owe me one."

So here he is, standing in front of Sunghoon's room at 2 in the morning because he cannot sleep. Sunghoon's actions earlier are bugging him because Sunoo is pretty sure that the latter was about to kiss him earlier if Jungwon didn't arrive while they are cuddled up on Jungwon's couch.

Taking a deep breath, Sunoo knocks lightly on Sunghoon's door. If there would be no answer, then Sunghoob was probably already asleep and the talk will be rescheduled tomorrow. However, it only takes 30 seconds for the latter to open the door for him.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Sunghoon asks and Sunoo can hear the worry in his tone.

"Uhm." Sunoo fidgets, unsure of what to say because fuck, he didn't think this through. "You were not sleeping, were you?" He asked.

"No. I just finished a game." Sunghoon replied and then silence engulfs them. Sighing, Sunghoon takes one of Sunoo's hand with his and pulls him inside his room, taking him to his bed and pushes him down to sit on it.

Sunoo's heart is beating loudly and he is scared that Sunghoon will hear it. He really should have planned out before engaging in the war. Sunoo watches as Sunghoon pulls his swivel chair in front of Sunoo and sits on it. He holds both Sunoo's hands with his, moving his thumb on the top of his hand to calm him down.

"I can wait until you're ready." Sunghoon says, smiling at him with assurance, and Sunoo sees it; the eyes that Jungwon describes to Sunoo whenever Sunghoon is looking at him.

"He looks at you like how Usui looks at Misaki or like how Kei looks at Hikari."

How did he fail to see it? It was there all along.

"Sunghoon-hyung acts the same way as they do too!"

Because despite Sunghoon teasing Sunoo so much until he explodes, Sunghoon worries for him.

Sunghoon would watch Sunoo's every move whenever he was in hyper mode to prevent him from injuring himself, he cooks for him, he'd make sure that Sunoo is eating on time, he's not into physical touches but Sunoo is so he let him be clingy as much as possible, he refills the cookie jar with Sunoo's favorite cookies, as much as Sunghoon hated mint choco, there'd always be a tub of ice cream in the fridge, he'd go out of his way whenever Sunoo is in trouble, he'd stop playing to teach Sunoo, he'd stay up late for him so that he'll have company, he'd cancel his plans whenever Sunoo is sick, he'd take care of him whenever he is drunk— Sunghoon was always there for him.

"What is your ideal type?"

"Shorter than me, has dark short hair, has pretty eyes, pretty smile, pretty nose, has a mole on the face, loves to eat, loves sweets, clingy, talkative, I'm an introvert so I'd like to have an extrovert beside me, full of energy, someone who I love to tease with, who can make me laugh—"

"You're oddly specific."

Sunoo chuckles as he remembered their conversation months ago. Yeah, Sunghoon was oddly specific.

Sunoo squeezes Sunghoon's hand before intertwining their fingers together. The smile that blooms in Sunghoon's face when Sunoo pulled him closer until their face were mere centimeters away from each other made Sunoo's heart leap in his chest.

Sunoo is really special to Sunghoon after all.

Ah, he's falling deeper in love.

"If I'll kiss you, are you going to let me?"

"Sure".

( "I like you."

"I know that now."

"I didn't think you'd ignore me for three days."

"Sorry. I got jealous. I thought you got together with Jake-hyung."

"I know."

"Huh?"

"It was Riki's plan."

And before Sunoo can speak, Sunghoon pushes Sunoo to lie down on his bed, closing the gap between them to kiss him again.

The title says it all.)

Notes:

This was supposed to be an angst. Supposed to be Sunghoon and Jake really did date. With his time focused on Jake, Sunghoon spent lesser time with Sunoo until Sunoo somehow felt lonely. And since Sunghoon was rarely at home ,Sunoo decided to leave their apartment and moved in with Jungwon.

and his last words before closing the door were "I may have left but my heart is still here (Sunghoon)."

but nooooo. after a month of writing the angst disappeared and it was replaced by fluff 😂

comments are highly appreciated! I would love to read what you think of this 🥺
