Chapter Text
"U-Uh, please go find a hero somewhere. I'm sure they'll help you." Another passerby suggests, again.
How many times has he heard that line?
Was it three? five? ten? or was it even more than that?
He's lost count already.
So many people, and yet not a single one of them decided to help him.
Do these people know what he's done?
Can they somehow see the blood on his hands?
Each time he goes to someone for help, they say the exact same line.
But where are the heroes?
Why weren't they there for him?
He's so tired.
An entire day of walking without eating or drinking anything, the sun beating down harshly on the dirty face of the black with blue roots haired child.
His feet are sore now, his legs already shaking from fatigue.
He should go sit somewhere.
An alleyway peeks at the corner of his eye.
He looks over to some of the other homeless just sitting there in the open. The sight makes him wince.
He doesn't think he'll be able to do that.
His body swaying, he walks into the alleyway, the smell of trash permeating in the air as soon as he does so as he collapses to a wall.
Tenko tucks his knees to his face, then he hugs his legs closer to him as he starts to feel tears prickle his eyes.
Mon-chan...
Hana-chan...
Okaasan...
He digs his fingernails deeper into his shoulders.
He could still feel the blood in his hands as he k-killed them.
How Mon-chan was so calm and ignorant when he crumbled to dust...
Hana-chan's piercing scream as he held onto her while she runs...
Okaasan's fear and concern as she attempts to reach him while her entire body cracks and breaks to pieces until she became indistinguishable...
He gives into his sobs as he feels regret for what he's done
His crimes.
I'm sorry
Please forgive me
I didn't mean to
...Do you all hate me?
And Otousan...
Tenko's sobs turn angry as he thinks of him.
His fear and anger as he hit him with a pole while Tenko pleads to him for help, of all people.
His fingers dig even deeper.
He doesn't regret that one at least.
Why did no one ever save his family from him?
Why did no one save me?
Where the heck are the heroes?
The day kept going on like that.
Tenko crying in the alleyway as he feels the pitying and sympathetic yet still wary gazes of passersby.
Knowing that someone should help him, a lone child, but no one wanting to.
Afraid of the responsibility, so they'll just throw it to someone else.
The heroes, who still haven't come to help him.
Just like Obasan and Ojisan...
Gradually, his faith in heroes slowly withers.
Where ARE they???
Why won't they help?
Does no one care?
D-Do they know what I've-
"H-Hello?" A timid voice breaks through his thoughts, making him look up to the direction of the voice.
Green
That was his first thought to the boy he sees.
With his green-tipped black hair and bright green eyes, of course he'd think that.
He looked like he was his age too.
And with his wide doe-like eyes, his next thought was
Greenbean
It seemed entirely fitting.
"D-Do you need help?" The greenbean asks him.
He only now notices that the greenbean's hand is held out to him, inviting him to take it.
Hana-chan screaming as she turns to stone and crumbles instantly, leaving dust and blood behind
"N-NO!" Tenko cries out as he tries to back up even more, his fingers digging into his shoulders further that makes blood coat his fingertips.
I-I don't want to hurt anyone else!
The greenbean falters a bit, but he stays steady and unyielding, his hand still outstretched as he now tries for a smile.
"I-It's okay, I'm here to help!" the greenbean encourages him, his voice slightly shaky.
"I don't want to hurt you..." Tenko meekly pleads.
I don't want to kill anyone else...
And yet, a selfish part of him still wants to grab the hand, even with his quirk.
Because while this isn't the hero he was expecting to come for him, this was still what he was waiting for.
What he was looking for.
For someone to come help him.
For someone to save him.
But... he knows what will happen if he grabs it, no matter how much he wants to.
He looks towards the greenbean.
He can vividly picture thatmface contorting into one filled with fear as he briefly turns to stone, before crumbling into mere dust.
With a startled cry, he hides his face in his hands, as his eyes glisten once more.
no
No
NO!
He can't do that to anyone else.
Not again!
"You won't hurt me. I promise."
He should definitely have doubted that.
He should've definitely asked him, "How would you know that?"
He should've had no reason to believe him.
He should have...
And yet, he gives in.
Maybe it was a sudden strange reflex.
Maybe it was the confident tone in the greenbean's voice.
Either way, he ends up taking the hand, the blood slightly coating the other's hands, but he couldn't care less by that point.
A flash of horror runs through him at first, as he braces for the greenbean to turn to dust, just like they did.
But nothing happened.
A blink, and he's hugging the greenbean tightly, afraid that he might disappear like a dream somehow.
His quirk...
His quirk didn't kill him!
Tenko can't express how relieved and overjoyed he is at this, as tears trickle down once more as he laughs.
"Are you okay now, uhh.. what's your name?" The greenbean asks.
"T-Tenko, Shimura Tenko." Tenko replies as he wipes the tears from his eyes with his hands.
"My name's Izuku, Midoriya Izuku. Nice to meet you!" The now named Izuku beams.
"Yeah... it really is..." Tenko answers with a genuine smile.
