Notes:

hey! this is (basically) my first fanfic, and uh when i first started writing this, let's just say my use of commas was a bit over the top and i don't think i reread my work much. oh and there were also issues with how 'scaled down' gojo was but to be honest i think that'll get its explanation in time!

i hope you enjoy, thank you!

Chapter 1: a new world

Chapter Text

"Come on, Prison-chan, won't you be so kind and please let me out?"

He even had the courtesy of using a suffix. He even said 'please'. He asked kindly, and it seems that it still won't let him out. I just wanna see my students again... As his mind replayed his 'final' moments out of the Prison Realm.

"Alright Prison-chan, let's try this again..."

He drawled, huffing as he attempted to draw on his cursed energy once again, knowing that it was probably pointless, but trying anyways. Even just the tiniest amount could possibly help him get out. But once again, the attempt remained fruitless.

Or so he thought.

He sighed, about to release his empty hold, before he grasped onto something. A small thread that had nearly slipped out of his reach, and he latched onto it desperately.

"Prison-cHAAan-!"

Is this it?

His eyes, despite closed, the darkness had brightened. Eyes bolting open, he leapt towards the bright light with caution. With every part of him passing through the light, he felt his cursed energy return, eyes once again exposed to the world.

Wait.

This really didn't look like his world.

He stood staring at the shattered moon, which he was most certain was not normal. The forest, well, he hadn't seen anything like it considering how bloody red it was, even more so than a normal autumn, but he was already sure that those black and red horned beasts were something akin to his world of cursed spirits.

"Thank you, whatever god is out there, for giving me a warm-up at least!"

He cracked his knuckles, grinning at the newfound prey. But in the end, he was easily bored and needed to explore, so a cursed technique later and they were left twisted on the ground, black blood tainting the grass, eventually turning to dust.

"How boring..."

He whined, as he slowly traversed the forests, wondering what he'd do in this world as he awaited a way home.

As he roamed the forests, any beasts he came across he simply ignored, and if they dared to approach him- well, a simple punch should do the trick! There was no need to waste any more cursed energy on them.

Finally, he came across the first sign of people and buildings. He wandered around, observing his newfound surroundings of this world. They seem far more advanced in technology... His train of thoughts was broken, as he heard gunshots and a loud crash. Turning to the source of the noise, she found a girl in red and black facing off with men in uniforms, and what assumed to be the mastermind, a man with a cane, top hat and fiery ginger hair. As she evaded a blast, the guy made his escape, climbing up a ladder besides a tall building. Some entertainment, perhaps? He flew up to the roof, and just as the projectile fired from the ship was about to explode the gem, he dashed in, carrying the girl to the side as a blonde woman wielding a wand and blocked the attack. Clearly, she seemed to be in a daze of awe, whether it was him or the other person, Gojo didn't know.

The battle was silent, the air only filled with the sounds of blasts and taunts of the opponent. Surprisingly, the wand was not for show, and was used to fire and deflect projectiles towards the enemy ship.

It seemed the man on the ship had a companion, one with some sort of manipulation of blasts and fire, who was deflecting any attacks with ease.

He sighed, about to prepare Red, but the camouflaged woman was becoming increasingly aggravated, the ground having lit up. The blonde witch waved her wand, as she and the girl in red tumbled away, as Gojo simply stood there, ignoring the blast, and throwing one last cursed technique at them before they left. It had surely created a dent or damage of some kind, because there was a stream of smoke coming from the back of their vehicle.

I should've used Red from the start-

"You're a huntress and huntsman!"

The girl in red suddenly beamed at the two of them, eyes sparkling in admiration. English?

"Can I have your autographs?"

--

Gojo stood at the back, out of the light (despite his white hair still sticking out), as he paid no mind to the discussion, although from what he was hearing, it seemed like the girl was being praised, scolded, and interrogated at the same time. He was still unfamiliar with the terms of Huntress and Huntsman, only thinking they were somewhat like this world's version of Jujutsu Sorcerers. And that the grey haired man was the headmaster of some prestigious academy specifically made to train these Huntsman and Huntresses.

"So then, who might you be?"

He looked up, realizing the question was directed at him. The people in the room were all looking at him, expecting an answer.

So, he put on a cheery smile. First human interaction in years!

"Gojo Satoru, but I believe in English it would be Satoru Gojo. Nice to meet you!"

His voice, was of course, tinted by an accent. It had been a while since he last spoke any other language besides Japanese. Now, were they going to interrogate him too? Scold him? Praise him? Not recruit him though, he's a bit too old to go through the process (though his pride wouldn't admit it).

"Are you a huntsman by chance?"

"Nah, but I could be!"

"Whaaa? But you deflected the explosions so easily! And you were like, HA! CHAAA! WOOOSH!"

The girl, who was now known as Ruby, had an outburst while making hand gestures. Meanwhile, the woman seemed surprised, as the headmaster gazed at him intently, curiosity sparking in his eyes.

"What is your semblance, sir?"

"What is a semblance?"

Now THAT set everyone off; there was a crescendo of what's and how's. Gojo sat there, a grin plastered on his face as he watched them panic. Eventually, they became quiet, and calmed themselves. Ozpin cleared his throat before speaking.

"Before I explain to you what a semblance is, might I ask why you don't know what it is?"

Gojo sat there, already having thought of something along the lines of a backstory, only needed to put it into sentences.

"Well, I've wandered places, been places, done stuff, didn't learn much, however. I don't think I ever learned about semblances, but hey if you're so curious why not explain it?"

Ozpin narrowed his eyes, clearly suspicious.

"Very well. A semblance is a unique ability only you can use, for example, Glynda has the semblance of Telekinisis."

Technically, Limitless is somewhat that... So did the people here not have any other abilities besides their own? Do they rely on technology and their physical ability to back them up? Interesting.

"Now, please elaborate on why you have not heard about semblances."

"Ah, well, you see, I lived in the forests for the whole time I've been here, I haven't actually had much human interaction until now..."

He wasn't lying. They'd just take his words the other way. The right way, the definite way. It was all just a matter of interpretation.

"And when you were young?" Ozpin pressed.

"My memories don't go back that far... I think? Yeah, can't remember anything. Nope, got nothing."

He shrugged, brushing aside the question. They were already very skeptical of him, but to be fair, anyone would be skeptical about a white haired man, wearing a blindfold, fighting without a care in the midst of a battle.

Ozpin leaned back into his chair, sighing.

"Alright, I will not press any further. If you would like, I could recommend you to enter the Huntsman License exam, but otherwise you are free to go. Your identity and details will be taken care of."

"Well then! I best get going, thanks for the entertainment!"

He stood from his chair, but as he was about to reach for the door handle Glynda called out.

"Wait."

Gojo turned to face her.

"Thank you... for your assistance."

Ruby nodded in agreement, cheerfully smiling at him.

"Come visit Beacon sometime! Oh, and could you show me those cool moves? Pleeeeaaaaaaseee?"

He chuckled at the girl's antics, but nonetheless granted the wish (but of course he wouldn't tell her that).

"I'm a busy guy!"

"Awwww, pleaseee? I promise I'll work hard to learn!"

He feigned an expression of thought, pretending to ponder for a few moments before pointing at her with a toothy grin.

"You've got a deal!"

"WOOHOOO!"

Ruby threw her hands up in a victory shout, clearly excited. How ironic. Gojo thought, as he still retained his teaching position, even in a new world. Finally, he had left. What's next? Maybe he should head to the library, or pick up some food by the sounds of his stomach. He had a bit of currency, maybe enough for two meals. Happily, he made his way through the streets in search of food. Good food. Although he craved his kikufuku.

What an interesting world.

--

He sat in his office, mind overwhelmed by thoughts of the encounter of that man. Satoru Gojo. Was he a threat? Was he an ally? Where did he come from? No normal civilian- no, not even huntresses and huntsman- could survive for that long in a forest alone, nonetheless a child. Was he raised by creatures? Raised by the Grimm? He brought a hand to his head, pinching the bridge of his nose. Stop it, Ozpin, you're getting ahead of yourself. He sighed, taking a sip from his mug. This was going to be something he'd ponder over for quite the while.

"Something on your mind, Ozpin?"

He looked up, noticing that Glynda had entered the office. She may have some information that would be of use.

"What do you think of Satoru?"

Glynda paused at the question, glancing at the vacant seat at his desk, as if to say this might take a while. Ozpin gestured towards it, by all means.

"He is... an interesting man, to say the least. In the battle alongside him, he did not seem to be fighting seriously."

He raised an eyebrow, signaling for her to continue.

"He wasn't even trying. Every attack was performed precisely and flawlessly, as if backed by years of experience. I doubt that he was using even a quarter of his power, and yet the amount could still rival myself. I believe he is a very powerful man, Ozpin, and there is much he does not let on."

Ozpin nodded, his suspicions confirmed. He had to win this man over to their side, turn him into one of their allies. He could not afford to make Satoru his enemy, at all costs.

"And... clearly in the interrogation room, he stated something about English, as if he did not originally speak it, which would most presumably explain his accent, but I still find it odd."

"I see..."
