Work Text:
Wei WuXian was brilliant.
Despite starting to cultivate a few years later, he quickly caught up with boys his age, and even surpassed them. It was not for nothing that he was recognized as a genius of his generation and made his way to the position of chief disciple of the YunmengJiang Sect.
However, that was only one aspect of his brilliance.
As an adult, he was despised. But even though Patriarch Yiling was a "terrifying" and "inhuman" figure, no one could deny his ingenuity and talent.
A man who hadn't even lived two decades not only played a major role in winning the SunShot campaign, he also created an entirely new cultivation method, along with a series of inventions that would make night hunting a much easier task.
However, as bright and intelligent as he was, the world still turned its back on him.
The war companion who led them to victory gradually became the monster with which parents frightened their children to make them more obedient.
And, a “villain” who rescued the Wen remnants and locked himself in the burial mounds, a land corrupted by resentful energy, as expected, could not have a good ending.
And, indeed, it was.
The man capable of controlling the resentful energy, which he killed indiscriminately during the siege, ironically got the end of him being devoured by his own ferocious corpses.
Gone was the disciple whom people would call “hero”, and he was only remembered as the personification of corruption and madness. Not like this, his story would still be told and not soon forgotten.
Wei Wuxian, the protagonist of all these events, did not cry, and he definitely did not scream. Even though his body was ripped apart, even though every face he'd once known celebrated the fact that they didn't have to do anything to take his life, he didn't beg.
Why do it?
Now he was just an empty shell of the once cheerful and full of vitality young man. He had nothing to hold on to in order to continue living.
His home, his family, his sister. He had lost everything. The only people he cared about hated him, after all, it was his fault that Uncle Jiang, Madam Yu, and Jiang Yanli died, and likewise, it was his decision to walk the demonic path.
Why go on living when embracing death could bring you some peace?
***
To those who knew him, as well as those who didn't, Wei Wuxian was arrogant.
This, oddly enough, was one of the few things said about him that were true. He was arrogant.
Of course, it was hard not to have a smug streak when there was no one to sharpen the edges of him, no one to compare to in his formative stage.
By the time Wei Wuxian had the chance to find a worthy opponent at the age of 16, his personality was already formed. Not like that, his fame never went to his head to the point of preventing him from spouting praise after praise to the second Jade of the Lan sect.
Lan Wangji was talented. Not only talented, he was perfect. Brilliant, neat, fair, obedient, everything Wei Wuxian would never be.
Not like this, Wei Wuxian's arrogance was unlike anyone else's. First, it was justified, and second, it wasn't something he took it upon himself to show off wherever he went. In fact, Wei Wuxian only played the genius card when he ran into people like Jin Zixun, or any Jin for that matter.
Of course, things like this would never be known, not when the truth seemed far from the facts and much closer to the malicious mouths that were content to watch the world vilify the genius who surpassed all cultivators and sects alike, and that, in the end, was the only reason they won the war.
Wei Wuxian was dead. He died like a monster, and he couldn't say anything about it. And the only person in the world he thought differently, the only one who really knew him for who he was, even more than his so-called brother, was in no position to clear his name.
Not when he was forced to seclude himself and prostrate himself on a bed to meditate and learn from his "mistakes" while he healed his wounds, all while he watched to protect the only memory he had left of the man he loved.
***
As clever as he was, however, he still couldn't figure out how he went from being besieged and devoured to being wrapped in the arms of a strange version of Lan WangJi, lying on a bed much softer than he remembered (although the latter was perhaps it was due to his recent experience of sleeping in a cold, damp cave in the burial mounds).
Wei WuXian thought that after opening his eyes and encountering a formidable and attractive male torso, nothing could surprise him, only to end up swallowing those thoughts the next second. Wei WuXian sat bolt upright, finding himself unable to look away from the most handsome face he had ever seen.
Wei WuXian thought that dying really must have loosened the last screws that his novel cultivation had left unscathed, because there was no way this was real.
However, such belief did not last long as he saw that the sleeper Lan WangJi was not exactly the one he knew.
One big difference between the two was the hair. While Lan WangJi's cascaded down to his waist, this new character's was short. Extremely short. The kind that the Lan sect would never approve of, much less when he too was unusually scrambled.
Wei WuXian knew that he should have shouted, either to wake up his partner or himself, but he didn't. In fact, he did nothing.
He just stood there, gaping at Lan WangJi's ethereal beauty. Although he had developed some resistance over the years, seeing the half-naked man in his bed with his hair a mess still shook him.
It was not because he was a man, but because he was Lan WangJi. The same Lan WangJi who always looked so flawless. The same one who hated him to the core. The same one who always tried to drag Gusu to lock him up and deliver justice.
That same man, or at least some strange version of him, was next to him in a compromising situation.
As that thought popped into his head, Wei WuXian looked down at himself, only to realize something terrifying. He was completely naked.
That could still be justified. Wei WuXian could think of a long list of reasons why he might be naked with Lan WangJi (and most of them could have been his fault and perhaps the alcohol).
But, while he could justify that, he couldn't do the same with the dull ache in his waist, and the bite marks and bruises all over his body.
Wei WuXian should have passed out due to shock.
Setting aside the fact that he had died no more than an hour ago, having arrived in an alternate reality in which he seemed to have slept with a man, and Lan Wangji of all people, was too much to process.
Of course, he was aware that it wasn't exactly him who did it, but it still made him queasy that he and Lan WangJi had reached this point at some point, in another life.
Wei WuXian would have liked to deny it and think that he just landed on a random body, but the unusual and small crescent-shaped mole on his right wrist and the conspicuous crook of his little fingers told him that was not the case. This was his body.
Just as Lan WangJi preserved his appearance in this place, Wei WuXian did not need to look in a mirror to know that he too should be the same.
Hence his surprise and incomprehension.
The sleeping man next to him, as beautiful and impressive as he was, hated him. He couldn't understand how this could be different in another world.
Just by looking at the posture Lan WangJi was sleeping in, he came to know that Lan WangJi must remain straight and boring (it's not like he could imagine it any other way anyway).
Wei WuXian tried to sit up and get dressed, because while embarrassment was an unnatural and unknown feeling for him, he was still capable of experiencing it from time to time.
Today was one of those occasions.
Wei WuXian felt himself pale, only to blush furiously the next second.
He couldn't see himself, but the overwhelming heat on his face was a very good sign.
If anyone knew that the Yiling patriarch, a renowned ladies'man since his youth, had broken down upon waking up in bed with someone else… well, he wouldn't have a face left to show.
Unfortunately, he was unable to dress as he wanted, as by the time he came out of his stupor Lan WangJi was already moving.
Wei Wuxian wished he could say that he was not afraid, but that was exactly the case. He feared that whatever happened between them was his responsibility, after all, it was hard to imagine Lan Wangji willing to merge with him.
He thought that maybe it was due to alcohol, and that once Lan WangJi opened his eyes would lash out at him in a rage.
The Yiling Patriarch was, in this case, innocent. A third party trapped in a situation beyond his control, a mere spectator who was passing through in an unknown body, in a completely ridiculous scenario that turned his vision of the world upside down.
However, since he couldn't explain himself, and since he somehow still had to pay for all the sins he had committed, he froze in place and waited for the perhaps deserved beating that would rain down on him.
Wei Wuxian would have loved to see Lan Wangji upset. Ever since he met him, breaking the tranquility of the second Jade de Lan was something he enjoyed.
However, not even he was capable of rejoicing in this kind of situation.
If it had been a joke he might have gone ahead and blurted out a few shameless words, but seeing the evidence on his own body even he had been left speechless and choiceless.
In this way, he simply closed his eyes and let things turn out as they should.
But, no matter how prepared he was, the warm touch that cradled his face still surprised him.
And it wasn't the kind of violent touch one would use to then start savagely beating someone up, but one that would be used to hold something precious.
Wei WuXian, despite having his eyes closed, could tell that the gesture was full of reverence and care.
“Wei Ying? What's wrong?"
Although Wei WuXian had managed to withstand the series of surprises, Lan WangJi's hoarse voice was something else.
Wei WuXian had known Lan WangJi since his youth. He had heard his name from him in a thousand different ways. Sometimes with rage, sometimes with frustration and exasperation, but never like this.
His name on this Lan WangJi's lips sent chills down his spine. Not the kind one would have in a terrifying situation, but the kind that was accompanied by a drop in the stomach and another overwhelming blush.
Wei WuXian, the man who had never been at a loss for words, only managed to whisper Lan WangJi's name.
“Lan Zhan…”
If Lan WangJi was worried about his strange behavior, he didn't show it right away. Wei WuXian stared at him as he studied him thoroughly before slowly nodding unconvincedly.
Wei WuXian cleared his throat and decided to lighten the mood.
“Lan Zhan, how can you be so calm after ripping me apart last night? I won't be able to walk all day!"
Wei WuXian said it as a joke, clinging to the futile hope that Lan WangJi would correct him and explain the absurd reason why they could end up this way. However, that was not what happened.
Lan WangJi frowned worriedly and urged him to lie down again.
"Rest. I'll prepare a bath for you."
Wei WuXian witnessed Lan WangJi get up naked in all his splendor and leave the room.
After recovering from that mental image, and trying to ignore the reactions it caused, Wei WuXian became aware of the place.
The bed he was lying on was very comfortable. Not only was he soft, he was also covered in extremely soft and cozy blankets. The strange thing about these was the design.
Wei WuXian never thought that someone could be so bored to draw straight colored lines on something that would only be used for covering and sleeping. But, a closer look left him puzzled.
That wasn't paint, or ink, or anything like that. Wei WuXian realized that the material was perfectly printed or infused with those colors. He wasn't rough to the touch, nor did he stick out in any way.
Impressed, Wei WuXian put him aside to continue snooping around. The walls were not made of wood like he was used to, they were made of a different type of material and painted in a light blue color, almost the same as what Wei WuXian was used to seeing on the Lan Sect's robes.
Wei WuXian thought that this should be Lan WangJi's room, but the amount of papers scattered on the desk and the pile of black and red clothes crumpled on a chair made him doubt that was the case.
Scanning the room with his gaze, Wei WuXian identified what could only be a window. But this one had no doors to close. The color of the sky indicated that it was very early.
It should have been cool with the window open, but the room was very warm. Wei WuXian narrowed his eyes in that direction and realized that there was some kind of barrier between the room and the outside, something strange because he didn't feel any kind of energy.
As soon as that was in his mind, he realized that he didn't have a golden core either. However, that didn't mean anything. He didn't have one before either, so maybe something happened in this new reality.
Wei WuXian was too lazy to get up, but that didn't stop him from reaching for the items on the bedside table.
One of them was an extremely thin rectangular box connected to what appeared to be a thin, flexible white object. Wei WuXian tried to throw him away, but seeing that he wouldn't give in he just let it go.
He tapped the box with his fingers and shook it, but nothing happened. He slid his fingers on the sides of it and felt several small bumps. Curious, he squeezed them and was startled to see a bright light turn on.
Recovering himself, he realized that what appeared there was a portrait or something like that. Wei WuXian saw himself sitting with Lan WangJi on the ground next to a tree. He was brazenly leaning his full weight on Lan WangJi while he wrapped his arms around his waist.
However, that was not all. Wei WuXian saw himself kissing Lan WangJi's cheek with one hand held his face and his other stretched out of the capture.
Wei WuXian was surprised to see the perfection in it, the color, and the quality. But all those thoughts faded to the background when he noticed that Lan WangJi was smiling.
Well, it wasn't really a smile, it was just a curve on his lips, almost imperceptible.
Wei WuXian tried to caress Lan WangJi's face, but he couldn't do it as the box darkened again.
Puzzled, he decided it was best to leave the device where it was. He had a vague feeling that things would be dangerous for him if kept finding out more about this Lan WangJi.
Trying to clear his thoughts, Wei WuXian searched the other bedside table. This one was messy. There was a strange object that, by the hairs on it, should be a comb, and various other things thrown in there. The only thing Wei WuXian could recognize was a book, so he took it.
Wei WuXian didn't expect to understand the text, but he did anyway. The cover left him with a strange feeling. They were two men dressed in robes, one in white and one in black and red. Something all too familiar, given the circumstances.
Nervous, he opened the book and began to read. However, the first words had already hit him.
"Patriarch Yiling is dead."
Wei WuXian tried to justify that sentence as a fluke, but as he continued reading his face grew paler and paler.
He had only gotten to the part where "he" ran away with a donkey when Lan WangJi returned.
He rushed to his side seeing him tremble, but after seeing the book in his hands he sighed.
"Wei Ying, you shouldn't continue reading that if it makes you cry."
From his tone, Wei WuXian deduced that this was not the first time this had happened.
"Sorry". He apologized without knowing why.
"Between us there is no need for 'thanks' and 'I'm sorry's'".
Wei WuXian smiled. Not the kind of forced smile, but a real one. Whatever he had with Lan WangJi in this reality was nice. A part of him couldn't help but feel jealous of his own fate.
It wasn't easy to accept that the same person loved him here and hated him in his world.
Lan WangJi seeing him silently continued. "The bathroom is ready, can you walk?"
Wei WuXian nodded. He got up, but little did he know that the answer would be contrary to his expectations. As soon as he pushed himself up he fell back onto the bed.
Lan WangJi watched him try it again before deciding to charge it. Wei WuXian screeched in shock and tried to get them to put him down, only to be silenced with a kiss to his head.
Wei WuXian had never experienced this kind of loving treatment. Maybe just with his parents, but he was too young to remember. So, Lan WangJi's gesture really calmed him down.
From the comfortable arms of Lan WangJi, Wei WuXian carefully watched the path to the bathroom. He couldn't understand why they had to leave the room to take a shower, but once they got there he understood.
Wei WuXian knew that Lan WangJi had money. He was a Lan after all. But it seemed that this detail was not left out in this new reality.
Lan WangJi called it a bath, but Wei WuXian was certainly convinced that it was a paradise.
He could see the water falling and steaming in a gigantic white bathtub. What made it even better is that the water fell as rain and as a jet.
Lan WangJi reached out and after moving a few things, the rain stopped, but the water continued to pour out from the other place.
Wei WuXian was carefully lowered into the warm water, and if he had to be honest, it felt like heaven. He was about to dip his hands in the water when he realized that he hadn't put the book down.
Wei WuXian was about to offer it to Lan WangJi so he could clean himself when Lan WangJi took a bottle from the tub along with a round purple thing. After pouring what seemed to be a sandalwood-scented perfume, he proceeded to clean it up.
At first, Wei WuXian did not understand what was happening, something that seemed to be becoming a habit since he woke up, but then he realized that Lan WangJi was pampering him.
For a moment, Wei WuXian thought about resisting, but after having 'slept' with Lan WangJi the embarrassment took a backseat, not to mention that this way he could continue reading.
Wei WuXian seriously concentrated on reading. He decided that he would absorb all the information before exploding into emotional disaster.
Wei WuXian didn't know how long he was reading, but it was long enough that he was clean and scented with damp hair and even dressed on Lan WangJi's bed by the time he finished.
The sky had completely cleared up, and from the cold dishes by the bed, Wei WuXian realized that lunch had already passed.
However, he had no appetite. The first page he read left him bewildered and head spinning, but he quickly recovered due to curiosity. If the book was right, he might come back.
As he continued to read, Wei WuXian realized that the book was indeed aware of his personality. The skepticism that he felt towards the story did not disappear until he read the first fragments of his past. Every action, every word, was even clearer than in his head.
Wei WuXian had a poor memory, but he was still able to remember if a few clues were thrown at him. While he might not be able to remember the last moments of his life and what happened in the Nightless City, the rest was still clear enough to access.
After convincing himself that the contents of the book were indeed his life, Wei WuXian didn't know how to feel. For a moment he even wanted to throw it away and burn it, since he didn't want to remember the mistakes he made. However, in the end, since it contained information about what his "future" could be, he decided to end it.
And thank the gods he did.
Wei WuXian had never moved from one emotion to another so easily. Calm at first, amused at others, resentful and hurt the next, only to end up completely bewildered and incredulous.
There was no reason to doubt the authenticity of the story, after all, it covered things that only he should know, but... it was still hard to accept that Lan WangJi, of all people, had those kinds of feelings to him.
When Wei WuXian read the "reunion" they had at Dafan Mountain, he agreed that he should escape of Cloud Recesses as quickly as possible. He did not want to be recognized by Lan WangJi, as he always believed that Lan WangJi wanted to lock up and punish him for becoming everything his sect despised.
Little did he know what Lan WangJi really wanted. The book was indeed revealing.
Finding out that his first kiss was stolen by him also hit something inside Wei WuXian. It wasn't a bad thing, of course, but he wouldn't know how to describe it.
He thought it was a girl after all. Finding out that it was Lan WangJi all of a sudden, along with all the secrets and plots that had been brewing for a long time, didn't allow him to turn his whole head on the matter either.
Though this wasn't entirely true either. Wei WuXian might be trying to turn his head away from that stolen kiss, but not to focus on what Jin GuanYao was planning or the chaos that was sure to erupt. Wei WuXian was completely engrossed in the ending, and the extras that followed.
Reading himself being fucked by Lan WangJi made even the Yiling Patriarch close the book due to embarrassment. He was, after all, just an inexperienced virgin. At least in practice.
Wei WuXian never knew that two men could do it. He always thought that what happened in chapter 95 was the only thing available. So, when he read how Lan WangJi stripped him of his virginity like that, and over the weed, he had a very rare moment of silence.
However, as embarrassed as he was, the curiosity was still there. Wei WuXian smiled and read on, fully imagining the scene in question.
While it was weird at first, it wasn't unpleasant. Wei WuXian always flirted with beautiful women, even those who were not so beautiful. It was something that came with his personality and he couldn't help it. But, he never got nervous about it.
It's not that the beauty of those ladies wasn't impressive, it was just that Wei WuXian had already seen perfection. Lan WangJi, despite being a man, was far above anyone Wei WuXian had ever seen.
Even, in his opinion, Lan XiChen was left behind. Or maybe, the beauty of the first Jade didn't suit him at all.
Either way, Wei WuXian always found himself comparing girls to Lan WangJi. Not only in appearance, but in behavior and the reactions he managed to get out of them.
Those little details he always overlook, but now that he was reading he brought them up, one by one.
Wei WuXian belatedly realized that Lan WangJi had always been special to him. At 16 years old he was too stupid and innocent to see that he had completely fallen. Jiang Cheng always made a point of telling him that Lan WangJi hated him, and perhaps the blindfold on his eyes stayed there because he believed it too.
Excusing that he just wanted to be a friend, he chased Lan WangJi to death. Over and over again.
Perhaps, if Wei WuXian had not been expelled, he would have continued in this way, and perhaps, he would also have realized why he needed or wanted Lan WangJi's attention so desperately, and why he talked about him on every occasion, even to the point of to brag about how perfect he was, much to Jiang Cheng's dismay.
Wei WuXian had always considered himself intelligent, but now, with book in hand and staring at the ceiling of a room in an unknown world, he realized that he was an idiot. Jiang Cheng might be applauding him if he knew that he had finally accepted it.
While he believed that Lan WangJi was trying to harm him, he only wanted to protect him. He got to the point where he received more than thirty lashes from the discipline whip.
Wei WuXian didn't think himself was worth that much, but he was happy. Now that he belatedly discovered Lan Zhan's feelings for him, he wanted to return.
He wanted to look Lan WangJi in the face and tell him that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with him.
He wanted to avoid the suffering that he must be experiencing due to his death. He couldn't make him wait thirteen years, could he? More than anything, he wanted to go back and get the happy ending of the book.
As Wei WuXian rambled on, he heard the door open. However, he did not take his eyes off the ceiling.
"Lan Zhan, why are you so perfect?"
As Wei WuXian waited for an answer, he closed his eyes. However, the seconds passed and he heard nothing.
In fact, he very belatedly realized that he couldn't open them. The feel of the mattress against his back, the warmth of the room, even the softness of the pillow behind his head, all vanished in a moment.
Wei WuXian panicked at first, but after thinking of a possibility he decided to go with the flow.
He didn't know how long he was in that state, it could have been minutes, or hours. Maybe even days.
Wei WuXian felt himself floating and wandering.
So it was, until something like a tug threw him away from the calm and quiet.
No matter how hard he tried to move, he couldn't move away. It was as if he was caught in a whirlpool that was pulling him to the bottom.
By the time he regained some control over it, it was lose for the pain in his stomach.
Having experience in the field, Wei WuXian determined that he had been kicked. He vaguely heard some angry shouting, but he didn't care about it all. He was too busy looking at the patterns drawn in blood around him.
If what he believed was true, and he hoped it was, he was back.
After a few more blows, followed by a series of warnings and insults, the two people in the room withdrew, leaving him alone in the midst of all the destroyed objects.
Wei WuXian tried to get up twice, and both times he failed. His control in the body that was offered to him was certainly curtailed thanks to the savage beating he received.
Thus, he could only wait.
After a while, Wei WuXian tried again and met his face in the reflection of a shattered mirror. It was just as described in the book, he looked like a ghost hanging.
Wei WuXian wanted to laugh, but he was too busy trying to find some water to make himself presentable.
Knowing what he knew, he needed to hurry to find the little disciples of the Lan Sect.
As he made his way to the Mo family residence, Wei WuXian realized that A-Yuan would be there. However, he would no longer be the three-year-old boy clinging to his leg crying. He would be a well trained and educated young man. A perfect disciple, just like Lan Zhan back then.
Things after that followed the original course. The Mo family died, leaving Wei WuXian free from the restriction of the contract. And the fight with the arm ended with the sound of Hanguang-Jun's Guqin.
Wei WuXian had been so immersed in happiness that he completely forgot to come up with a plan to follow.
Thus, he did not run away with the donkey and stood there, watching Lan WangJi descend and seal Nie MingJue's arm.
He could only watch as Lan Sizhui, or A-Yuan, described what had happened, pausing several times to glance at him surreptitiously.
Wei WuXian knew that Sizhui suspected his involvement in the matter no matter how foolish and casual his actions were, so he was not surprised when Lan WangJi approached him and nodded in acknowledgment and thanks.
However, Wei WuXian wanted none of that. He wanted Lan WangJi to recognize him.
He impulsively grabbed Lan WangJi from his arm. Wei WuXian expected the young disciples' panicked cries, and JingYi's warnings, but not Lan WangJi's stiffness.
In fact, he kind of expected to be pushed, but maybe Lan WangJi was too kind to brush away someone who was described as a lunatic.
Thus, Wei WuXian took advantage and moved even closer. He knew it was a matter of time before Lan WangJi would throw him away for his inappropriate behavior, however justified he was, so before Lan WangJi could act he shouted.
“Lan Zhan! It's me!"
That didn't help to Lan WangJi let go the arm he was trying to push away, but it did make him stop.
Wei WuXian had gained a slight understanding of Lan WangJi from reading the novel, so while he couldn't tell what exactly he was thinking, he had reason to believe that Lan WangJi was somewhere between surprised and hopeful at the sudden call of his name.
Wei WuXian didn't keep him waiting, so he continued.
"I... I don't remember what happened in the Nightless City back then, but somehow I found out and..." Wei WuXian had no idea what he was saying, but knowing that it couldn't be worse than the misunderstanding between them in chapter 95, or better than his brazen public confession, he decided to say whatever he was thinking.
"I like you. You always did, although I didn't realize it until… well, I don't know exactly how long, but I really like you. I love you. I want you. I want to sleep with you every day and hunt at night together for the rest of my life.”
Being lost in the impromptu speech, Wei WuXian did not react to the collective gasps of the young disciples, nor the thud of falling bodies from the most sensitive and easily impressed. He only had eyes for Lan WangJi, who really looked like a statue right now. If the grip he had on Wei WuXian's wrist wasn't getting stronger to the point where it was slightly painful, Wei WuXian would think he had frozen.
However, Wei WuXian did not let that stop him. He moved even closer until he erased the limits of decency and cradled Lan WangJi's head so that Lan WangJi's eyes were fixed on his face.
"After stealing my first kiss like a thief several years ago, you should take responsibility, Lan Zhan."
Wei WuXian wanted this to be a joke, just to bring back Lan WangJi's operability, but those words were not expected to be a trigger.
Wei WuXian found himself being pulled into a tight embrace. He was so sudden and unforeseen that it took him a while to react.
Lan WangJi was trembling slightly and almost imperceptibly, perhaps still shocked by the sudden turn of events. Perhaps he was afraid to believe that this was the reality and not a dream.
Wei WuXian didn't bother him, he just hugged him back in the same way, wanting to merge with him and never let go.
He vaguely noticed that the youngsters no longer made strange sounds. Surely they were too shocked or traumatized by Wei WuXian's brazen words. It would not be easy for them to accept or believe that their esteemed Hanguang-Jun would steal someone else's first kiss.
Wei WuXian smiled and nodded at Lan WangJi's broken words.
Things from here on out would not be easy, but Wei WuXian hoped that he would be sufficiently prepared with the knowledge that he had acquired. But more than anything, he hoped that he and Lan WangJi would have the same happy ending.
Seeing that Lan WangJi had already calmed down, Wei Wuxian smiled brightly at him and sneered. “You know, Lan Zhan, I never thought you were capable of
that kind of thing. You'd be surprised how much you learn once you're dead."
Lan WangJi frowned and after ordering the young disciples to find an inn to rest, he turned around. “Wei Ying…”
Wei WuXian interrupted him. “Lan Zhan, I am not upset. In fact, I'm glad you did. I thought was a shy and strong girl, but turned out to be the most beautiful person I've ever seen. Be that as it may, you have to take responsibility and you can start prostrating me on the floor and spreading my legs to…”
Lan WangJi, perhaps unable to bear another word, silenced him. More, unlike his youth, it wasn't with the annoying silencing spell, but with a kiss.
Wei WuXian, distracted and excited by the kiss (and what he knew was to come) decided that he would have time later to tell Lan WangJi that this was the way he wanted to be quiet from now on, as well as his brief experience in the other world.
He had a feeling that Lan Zhan would like to know that there was another version of themselves that ended up happily together. Even more so when said version could be his next life.
For now, though, he decided to make it up to his Lan Zhan for the years of waiting (and chastity) that he endured without him.
He would have time to inform and disrupt the series of conspiracies that were still brewing in the shadows.
