Summary
It isn’t until Lucy is home later that night (alone, despite Chris’s best efforts) that the weight of what he had done hits her.
She’s standing at the kitchen island, nursing a glass of water and trying to fight the nausea that’s plagued her since she took her first bite of dinner.
Everything had been going … surprisingly well. As well as they could have gone, she thinks, considering the situation. And then, when Chris had been making her a cup of coffee, he had started humming that song.
