Yeah, Armin knew that thinking too much of your words would have only been detrimental. Armin knew you would have never, truly, felt that way about him. The same way as he did.
And, whilst his heart wanted to hold on to the thought of you two eventually running away from everything and everyone, away from the world, just the two of you, his brain knew it was best to live in the present. To live in reality, rather than in his forlorn desires.
