Work Text:

You opened your eyes a bit but instantly closed them again as the brightness of the sun behind the curtains hurt your eyes. Your nose was all stuffy and you head hurt too. You whined a bit as you realized that you didn’t feel good at all! Just as you were about to call out for one of your Daddies – the door opened and in walked your Papa who walked over to your crib and frowned at the sight of you all cuddled up and sightly shivering.

Lucius leaned down and put a gentle hand on your forehead seeing that your head was very hot – he picked you up quietly shushing you and set you down on your stomach on the changing table where he pulled the strap over you to keep you from falling off the table. You whined as your onesie and nappy were removed and you could hear your Papa searching for something in the drawers of the changing table. “Alright sweetheart – this is going to feel a little funny”, he said as a warning before you felt something sharp and cold prodding at your bum – you knew instantly that it was a thermometer which made you try to thrash around but you couldn’t because of the strap. Lucius quietly shushed you as he waited for the thermometer to beep then he pulled it up frowning at the temperature it read.

“Alright sweet baby”, he told you undoing the strap and picking you up in his arms “Let’s run a nice cold bath and I’ll text daddy to make you some bland oatmeal for breakfast”. You didn’t answer him – instead you grabbed a fistful of his long hair as he carried you to the bathroom – you always enjoyed playing with both of your Daddies long hair. He set you down on top of the toilet lid before using his wand to magically fill up the tub with water at the perfect temperature to cool your fever down. Normally they let the tap run in the tub as running water was needed to create the bubbles you liked in your bath but today was to be a simple no fuss bath so magic could be used. Before he put you in the tub – he grabbed a rubber ducky for you to hold and then he sightly held his breath as he lowered you into the tub knowing you were not going to like it. You shrieked at the coldness and tried to fight your Papa to get out of the tub; “Cold Papa!”. “I know baby but it’s going to get your temperature down”, he tried to soothe you pressing his lips to the top of your head to kiss you. You still squirmed and grumbled a bit but you settled down for a few minutes longer and then once Lucius thought you had been in the tub long enough – he gathered a warm fluffy towel to wrap you in and held you close as you sightly shivered.

Then he dressed you in one of your warmer onesies and a nappy before bringing you downstairs – in perfect timing as Severus was just setting the table with breakfast – Draco and Harry already happily digging into their plates of eggs and toast. He set you down in your high chair and instantly Severus was there – checking your forehead with his hand – making a mental note to slip a small vial of potion into your bottle after breakfast before he sat down in the chair opposite you to feed you.

At first you happily accepted the spoonful of warm oatmeal but when you tasted how bland it was – you spit it out ignoring your Daddy’s sigh at that. “What’s wrong Angel?”, he asked you running his fingers through your hair to soothe you. “Tastes bad Daddy! No flavor”, you argued to him. “You can’t have too many sweet things today darling, you’re not feeling well”, he calmly stated trying to feed you again – frowning when you refused. “You can put a small amount of sugar in her oatmeal, Severus”, Lucius said from where he was wiping Harry’s hands of jam from his toast and helping Draco to cut his egg up.

You watched your Daddy get up with your breakfast and then come back with the bowl with a small amount of sugar on top where he fed you again and this time you made no complaint. After your Daddy fed you all the oatmeal – he gave you your sippy cup of water to drink while he ate a quick piece of buttered toast and some coffee while your Papa got your bottle ready – slipping in a few drops of potion when he knew you were distracted.

Then you were picked up and carried to the living room where your brothers were engaging in a fierce dragon battle with their toys as your Papa carefully laid you across his lap – holding the bottle to your mouth where you slowly sucked on it as you watched Blues Clues play out on the screen. You felt relaxed and sleepy now and your body felt a little better but still sickly as you took one hand to hold your Papa’s shirt as you rested against him. Once the bottle was finished – you felt a blanket being pulled over you and your Papa started to sing a tune under breath that got you drifting off into sleep.

When you woke up – you were a little bit disoriented and you whined and shifted a bit – as you realized you were still on the couch but now your brothers were gone and so was your Papa. You sat up whining a bit – rubbing your eyes as you let out a little sneeze. You were just about to get off the couch when your Daddy came in. “There’s my little angel”, he said coming over and gathering you in his arms – bouncing you a bit “Let’s get you changed and check your temperature sweet heart and then we can have some lunch”. You allowed him to bring you upstairs – happily accepting the stuffed giraffe to hold as he laid you on your stomach – carefully taking off your clothes and sliding in the thermometer – shushing you gently when you whined as he held it in place – taking it out once it beeped and he looked at it. “Well it looks like my potion did the trick!”, he said happily seeing that there was no more fever and by looking at you – you looked a lot better – just having a few sneezes and coughs still. He got you dressed again after putting you in a fresh nappy before carrying you down for lunch where he fed you some chicken and rice soup – still hesitant on giving you anything too heavy to eat incase you felt nauseous.

Since you had a early nap this morning – he allowed you to play with your brothers and you squealed happily as Lucius got out your favorite set of soft blocks to have – only scolding you gently when you tried to put one in your mouth. You happily worked on stacking the soft colorful blocks into little towers – your brothers helping out when the towers got too tall and a little wobbling.

Your Daddies sat on the couch – looking onto the adorable sight – glad that your fever this morning seemed to have gone away and you seemed to be getting back to your normal self. They still planned on keeping you inside for the rest of the day and having a light dinner and early bedtime for you just to make sure that you were fully healed. They would also most likely check your temperature right before you sleep and make sure not to pile too many blankets in your crib and to make sure that your door is propped open in case you get worse during the night.

For now though they just sat and watched you and your brothers – smiling at their happy little family – knowing that you in your little onesies with your diaper sightly peeking out, Harry in his firm toddler mindset with his happy giggles and playful mood, and Draco the oldest of all of you and the helper to the family were everything that they needed in life and would bring them infinite amounts of joy and laughter for years to come.
