Drive

Summary:

When did spending time with your crush become so dangerous? Why couldn't she have just offered to study together instead?

Work Text:

Amity pursed her lips, pencil flicking back and forth between her fingers as she stared at the seemingly unending paragraphs of her biochemistry book. It was hour five of studying with the rain tapping at the windows from outside. Though, it might be more accurate to call it hour two of trying to study as she zoned out to the sounds of rain. All the high level terms and equations had started to bleed together in her brain into one giant mush of meaningless numbers and letters.

“Ugh…” She sighed and leaned back from the table to stare up at the ceiling. Her final was still a ways off but her professor had promised that it would be an exacting and compact test that would test every facet of their knowledge. Not to mention the paper she needed to finish writing on covalent bonds and come up with a writing prompt for her speculative fiction class.

She both loved and hated chemistry.

Today, she hated it.

With another long sigh, she sat back up and gave her neck a satisfying pop. She really needed to buckle down and finish at least one of those things today. She could give studying a break at least. Her brain was just no longer in it. She closed her chemistry book and popped open her laptop, determined to work on her prompt.

All that determination didn’t stop her from staring listlessly out the apartment’s patio doors, watching the rain beat gently on the glass for the better part of the next five minutes though.

Her mind drifted in and out of thoughts, often coming back to one in particular. The one thing that had begun to occupy most of her idle thoughts over the last two months.

Willow's new friend spent nearly as much time at their apartment as she did her own since the pair had begun their history class together. Much as she enjoyed having Luz around, she was a funny and cute distraction that, frankly, Amity didn't need.

Normally, she did her best to banish those thoughts as soon as they reared their head, but she was exhausted and indulged in the guilty pleasure today. It wouldn’t be inaccurate to say she had a little crush on the energetic lit student that frequented her apartment.

Despite how they initially got off on the wrong foot when Amity came home one afternoon to find a cute stranger sitting on her couch drinking a caprisun.

There had been a lot of yelling and screaming before Willow had come back from the mailroom to find Luz standing on the corner of the couch while Amity brandished a baseball bat.

Took a few minutes to deescalate that situation.

There were no more violent attacks after that whenever Amity came home to find her in their apartment, though Luz gave her a wide berth the first few times after.

She didn’t interact too much with Luz after.

At first…

But then Luz started seeking her out for her opinions on projects she and Willow were working on, then things for classes she didn’t share with their mutual friend.

Eventually, she grew more relaxed and used to the other woman’s presence when she came home and would even wave if she saw her around campus. Of course, even if she didn’t, Luz would wave and shout till Amity would notice her.

It was cute, her lively and robust spirit. It was infectious and Amity was drawn to her like a moth to a flame. Then it was a downhill drop, getting lost watching her do almost anything. Luz did everything with so much energy and zest that it was hard not to be drawn in by her.

Her bright eyes and soft grin…soft skin...

Amity drifted off into another daydream.

Until she heard the familiar jingle of Willow’s keys in the door, making her look up. The door flung open and her roommate appeared, quickly hanging her bag on the hook and setting aside her umbrella.

“Stay right there, I’m going to get you a towel,” Willow said before hurrying through the living room and down the hall.

Whoever she was talking to was obscured behind the still-open front door. Amity stood, stretching her stiff muscles as she peeked around the wood and gasped.

“Hey.” Luz gave her a halfhearted wave from the doorway, as though summoned straight from Amity’s daydreams. Her clothes were plastered to her like a second skin and her hair was soaked, falling into her eyes and dripping onto the carpet in the hall.

Actually, this was a lot like one of her day dreams…

“What happened to you?!” she asked, making Luz sigh and push a few soaked locks of hair out of her eyes.

“The bus left without me…” she grumbled, scowling at no one. “I was right there, running to the doors when the bus driver looked right at me and then drove away!” She threw up her arm, flinging droplets of water everywhere.

“Here,” Willow reappeared, towel in hand.

“Thanks,” she smiled gratefully and set about ruffling the towel through her wet hair.

“Get dry enough to come inside and I'll find you something to wear. I should have a hoodie you can borrow… though I doubt any of my sweats will be long enough,” Willow hummed, scratching her chin.

“I think I have some in the dryer she can wear,” Amity jumped to offer and Willow nodded, heading back into the bathroom where the washer and dryer were.

“Thanks Willow!” Was the muffled call from beneath the towel. She pulled it off her head and Amity snorted at the damp hair sticking up in every direction, a knotted clump atop her head.

It had no right to be as attractive as it was....

“And thanks, Amity.” Luz turned that bright smile on her and her heart gave a hard thump in her chest.

“Yeah…. no problemo…,” she chuckled awkwardly. “You can come in now.” She held the door open as Luz managed to stop the worst of the dripping.

“Come change into these clothes!” Willow called and Luz hurried down the hall. Amity shut the door.

She watched her disappear into the bathroom as Willow stepped out. She threw Amity a knowing look.

“What?” she hissed, face turning red whileWillow smirked.

“Not a thing,” she simply said with a grin as she plopped herself down on the couch. Amity huffed, face burning as she stalked back to the table where her laptop was still sitting untouched since she had opened it and vehemently ignored her friend and roommate.

She could feel Willow’s eyes burning holes into the back of her head and she steadfastly ignored it for the next five minutes before Luz finally came out of the bathroom, mostly dry and grinning, hair combed back instead of sticking from her head like a wild bush. Bundled up in Willow’s roller derby hoodie and her own… Good Witch Azura pajama pants.

‘Good god…’

“That’s better, thanks, guys.” She smiled as she plopped herself onto the couch next to Willow, who grinned as Luz flopped her legs across her lap.

“I’m missing my last class of the day, but no way I was gonna sit there for two hours soaking wet,” she grumbled, crossing her arms and snuggling back into the corner of the couch. “I hate having to catch a bus everywhere.”

“You don’t have a car?” Amity glanced over her shoulder at them from where she was pretending to work.

She watched, fascinated as loud, brash Luz, sunk further into the couch, face red and not looking at her or Willow.

“I don’t have a license,” she corrected.

“You don’t drive at all?” She turned around in her chair as Luz shook her head, refusing to make eye contact.

“No, my mom was too busy most of the time and when we did try… well, I wasn’t very good and it was just easier on us both not to try and I would just ride my bike most places.” She shrugged. “It’s only really been a problem since I started college and everything is more than a mile apart….”

"Ya know, it's never too late to learn," Willow nudged her leg and Luz made a face.

"It's not like this happens all the time…"

“Didn't happen last week, too?" Willow cocked her head and Luz pursed her lips. “And didn’t you miss half a shift at work because you couldn’t find a ride that day?”

“It wasn’t raining last week…” she huffed. "I don't have anything to drive anyway."

"Your mom offered to help you out with a car if you got your license," Willow helpfully reminded.

"I don't have anything to practice in right now though. You drive a standard and Gus hasa moped!" She threw up her arms. "...and your schedule doesn't line up with mine except on the weekends when we're doing other stuff. I have no one to teach me." She slumped back against the faded blue couch cushions and pulled the hood of her borrowed hoodie down over her eyes with a grunt.

"I can teach you."

Luz's eyes peeked out from under the hood, blinking. Willow also turned to look at Amity, who looked just as surprised as they did at the words that had tumbled out of her mouth.

'What?'

"Really? Luz sat up, looking at her with those wide, warm, brown eyes that turned Amity's insides to mush whenever they fell on her.

"I have a car… and I took professional driving lessons to get my license. I could teach you," she offered again, still unsure of her own words even after her brain had caught up to her mouth.

"That would be amazing, Amity!" Luz flung herself up and scrambled over Willow, who grunted as Luz floundered across her to go stand by the table. "Would you really?"

“I mean… sure?” She didn’t sound sure at all but any reservations she had flew right out the window when Luz wrapped her up in a tight hug, chin on her shoulder.

“Thank you so much!”

“Ha… yeah, no problem…” she mumbled. Luz smelled very… citrusy. Like lemons.

She didn’t even notice Willow watching them.

Willow plopped her chin in her palm on the arm of the couch and shook her head, smirking knowingly at the two of them.

Amity’s crush on Luz had been apparent to her from the start.

After all the annoyance and aggravation had faded anyway.

Luz’s much less obvious feelings had taken her by surprise but she knew Luz and the woman was definitely just as enamored with Amity.

Watching them interact most of the time was painful at best and exhausting at worst.

Maybe this would finally do it… Or Luz would crash the car in an embarrassing fit and kill them both.

Time would tell.

~ ~

“Okay, you can do this…” Amity mumbled to herself as she pulled up outside Luz’s apartment. She could sit in the passenger seat and direct, that shouldn’t cause any problems.

Hopefully.

She turned off the car and climbed out she pulled her phone out and started to type a message to Luz. Before she could even complete her thought, the front door of the downstairs apartment to her right, flung open, nearly flying off its hinges.

“Luz!” Someone was yelling as said woman came bounding out the door and down the steps.

“Sorry guys!” she yelled over her shoulder. A blonde Amity didn’t recognize appeared in the doorway, scowling and looking like he hadn’t slept in days before slamming the door shut behind Luz.

“Buenos días, señorita!” Luz greeted with a sunny grin as she stepped off the curb.

“Hey, who was that?” Amity glanced over at the closed apartment door.

“Oh, that’s Hunter. One of my roommates. The grumpy one, specifically.” She snorted. “There’s also Gus and Mattholomule…” She made a face. “Actually, no, Matt’s the grumpy one. Hunter is a different problem…” she trailed off.

“All your roommates are guys?” Amity asked, surprised. “It’s not… gross?” She finally asked, unsure how to phrase it any other way.

“Oh, it totally is.” Luz nodded as she walked around to the driver's side. ”It's liveable though.. and rent split 4 ways is much cheaper!” She beamed and Amity snorted.

“Well, you ready?” She asked, holding up the keys to the very expensive looking silver car parked at the curb.

Luz swallowed thickly as she reached up to take the keys, fingers brushing with Amitys as they clinked against each other in her palm. She was sure the little jolt she felt was not from the metal.

“Ready as I’ve ever been…” she said with a confidence she definitely didn’t feel. Amity smiled at her before climbing into the passenger seat and her heart gave a thump. “You can do this!” she mumbled to herself and trotted around to the driver’s side.

She slid into the seat and closed the door. The car smelled like her companion. A distinct lab smell mixed with flowers of some kind maybe. Something sharp and floral that made it rather hard to concentrate.

“Okay, first things first, seatbelt,” Amity instructed, her own already secured across her waist and shoulder.

“Right.” Luz clicked it in place before looking at Amity, who froze up as Luz stared at her.

“Um, so, first thing you should always do is check to make sure your seat and mirrors are positioned so you're comfortable and can see everything.” She motioned to the little knob on the door. “That controls the powered mirrors. You should be able to just barely see the back sides of the car.”

“Okayyyy,” Luz played with the knob until they were in the right place.

“Now the rearview, can you see?” Amity watched as Luz looked up and adjusted the mirror, tongue poking out the side of her mouth in concentration. Amity watched her much too closely.

“Now what?”

She jolted when she blinked to find Luz staring back at her.

“Oh, uh, so, we need to pull away from the curb. So, turn on your signal… no up here,” she reached over and pointed at the stick.

“Right… right,” Luz nodded and flicked it on, the wrong direction before quickly flicking it the other way. Her body was already stiffening up with nerves.

“Now, put your foot on the break to keep us from rolling and put it in drive...”

Luz, slowly and mechanically pressed her foot to the pedal and the engine revved.

“The other pedal, that’s the gas…” Amity corrected. “The brakes are always going to be the bigger pedal.”

“Oh, sorry!” Luz mumbled and Amity frowned.

“You’re fine, Luz. How much have you driven before?”

“Uh, pretty much none… the one time my mom and I tried, instead of reverse, it was in drive and I ran into the garage door…”

“Oh…” Amity watched, hypervigilant now as Luz pressed on the break and shifted into drive.

The car gave a few little jerks as Luz slowly pulled them away from the curb, looking over her shoulder for any oncoming traffic. The street was, thankfully, deserted as they ambled out onto it.

“Keep your eyes on the road,” Amity instructed as she slowly reached up to grab the aptly named ‘o-shit’ handle.

The car jerked and bobbed as Luz accelerated and breaked in equal measure through the apartment’s parking lot.

Luz winced every time she pressed any of the pedals too hard, jerking them around. That familiar anxious feeling that had always reared its head at the prospect of driving was clawing up her throat, though now it was mixed with a heady wave of embarrassment. Screwing up in front of her mom was one thing, in front of Amity though?

Her whole body was so tightly coiled she might spring out of her seat at any moment.

They pulled up to a stop light with a hard jerk, flinging them both forward and Luz grimaced as the seat belt locked, choking her.

“Okay,” Amity rasped, pulling the seat belt away from her throat and rubbing at the red mark there. “So, you want to try and come to a… gentle stop… when you stop.”

Luz shrunk in on herself, hot embarrassment crawling up the back of her neck. The air was tense and silent, punctuated only by Amity’s gentle instruction and Luz’s strained apologies any time she braked too hard or stomped on the gas.

“Watch out for that curb….. And that hedge!”

~ ~

A good half hour later they pulled back up in front of Luz’s apartment, crooked and half sticking out into the street, half a bush hanging on by a thread beneath Amity’s back bumper.

“So… it was a good effort…” Amity started, as she tried to force her fingers to let go of the handle. “I think you could use some work on turning… braking… and accelerating…”

“Ah, right… well… thanks, Amity.” Luz glanced up at her as she unbuckled her seatbelt. “I appreciate it but I need to go study now…”

“Okay, see ya…”

Luz hopped out of the car and all but ran to her apartment, leaving Amity sitting there in the passenger seat.

“... later…”  She blinked, watching Luz disappear inside.

She dislodged the bush before driving home. Luckily the empty streets did a lot to calm her frazzled nerves. Luz hadn’t been kidding when she said she hadn’t really done any driving.

“Hey, how was driving practice?” Willow looked up from where she was studying at the coffee table when Amity walked in.

“No less than two bushes were murdered today by Luz.”

“That bad, huh?” Willow leaned back, setting her book aside.

“Reminds me a lot of when Ed was learning to drive…” she mumbled, hanging her bag on the hooks. Her brother's brand of driving had been the very reason she and Em had gotten private, paid instruction.

Her dad said his heart couldn’t take another turn into oncoming traffic.

At least Luz hadn’t done that.

“She was… really tense,’ Amity frowned.

“I think driving makes her nervous… not to mention you,” she mumbled the last bit under her breath.

“Hmm?” Amity looked at her curiously.

“She’s not used to having to be the one driving. I’m sure she was just frazzled. She can get in her own head and then….boom!” She threw up her hands. “ It all goes downhill.”

“So I noticed.” Amity plopped herself down on the other end of the couch with a sigh. Her nerves were a tangled mess. “That was scary…” she mumbled, throwing an arm over her eyes.

Willow silently watched her, looking over the top of her phone.

“What if you brought down the pressure a little, maybe try an empty parking lot?” She suggested.

“Yeah, I’ll give it a try next week… right now I think I need to lie down…” she groaned.

Maybe taking traffic out of the equation would help Luz’s nerves.

It would definitely help Amity’s nerves. At least twice they had made some turns that set her whole body on edge.

She could have reached out the window and touched that Prius at one point.

“I’ll make us some tea…”

~ ~

Amity stared at her phone screen despondently, slumped over the kitchen table with her research paper left forgotten on her open laptop.

That was how Willow found her the following Saturday afternoon when she came home from classes. She didn’t move as Willowwalked around the apartment, half watching her roommate from the corner of her eye for any signs of life.

“Are you… okay?” Willow finally asked.

“I think Luz hates me…” Amity mumbled, burying her face in her arms.

“What?!” Willow balked at her. “What are you talking about?” She moved around the table to face Amity, whose amber eyes peeked from between crossed arms.

“I’ve been trying to schedule a time we can practice driving again all week but every time I do she has something come up and can’t. I think she’s avoiding me…” Amity frowned.

“I’m sure she’s not avoiding you, Amity. Luz has a lot of projects all coming up soon, I’m sure she really is busy.” Willow reached over and patted her arm comfortingly.

“You really think so?”

“I know so.”

~ ~

“Why are you avoiding Amity?” Was the first thing Willow said when she walked into Luz’s bedroom, making her nearly jump out of her skin. Her knees smashed into the bottom of her desk, rattling her books and laptop.

“Huh, wha-?” Luz blinked at Willow standing in the doorway. “How did you get in here?!”

“Hunter let me in.” She hooked a thumb over her shoulder as the blond walked past them down the hall.

“Yo.” He smirked at her.

Luz glared in return.

“Answer the question.” Willow stepped inside and closed the door.

“I’m… not avoiding her,” Luz mumbled, very deliberately avoiding Willow’s eyes.

“Luz… you came over to the apartment nearly every other day, you haven’t been over all week and I know you don’t have a presentation on ‘medieval sightings of dragons’ for your cryptozoology class.” Willow crossed her arms. “Did something happen when you two were driving?” she asked and Luz winced. “Did Amity say something mean to you?” Willow knew better than most that when she was frustrated, Amity had a tendency to snap at people.

“No!” Luz shook her hands, finally turning around to face her. “No, Amity didn’t say anything mean… I just…” She scratched the back of her head nervously then mumbled something so quietly Willow didn’t catch it.

“What?”

Luz’s face turned red, mouth scrunching up.

“I like Amity,” she mumbled.

“Now tell me something I don’t know.” It took all Willow’s willpower not to grin at the face Luz was making, like she had just swallowed a lemon and been told zombies stole all her missing socks at the same time.

“Wh- I... you knew?!”

“Luz, everyone knows.” Willow’ssmirk grew into a grin while Luz’s whole face turned bright red.

“No they don’t!”

“Yes we do!” The three voices of her roommates echoed in the house.

“Forget about them,” Willow waved off. “The point is, I know you like her, so, why are you avoiding her?” She sat on the side of Luz’s bed, to be on eye level with her.

Luz pursed her lips and drummed her fingers anxiously on her thighs.

“I just… really messed up the other day…”

“When you were driving?” Willow frowned and Luz nodded. “How so?”

“Well, I ran over two bushes for one.” Luz jumped out of her seat and started to pace. “I just get so nervous driving… and then she makes me nervous too and I dunno how I didn’t kill us!”  She continued her pacing around the room. “She must think I’m such a goober..”

“You just need to relax, driving isn’t actually that hard, Luz. I understand why it can be for you…”

“Hey!”

“I mean that with love,” she chuckled. “You have to relax and take your time…. Patience is not exactly your strong suit but I have faith.” Willow reached out and grabbed her hand, tugging her down to sit beside her. “… and Amity doesn’t think you’re a goober. She told me she’s been trying to get another practice time arranged with you all week.”

“Amity’s just nice like that…'' Luz mumbled and Willow snorted. She could very distinctly remember several times when they were kids that Amity had not been so ‘nice’ to people but she kept that to herself.

Mostly.

“Amity isn’t just ‘super sweet’ to everyone, Luz. She wants to help you and if she really was that afraid for her life at your driving, she wouldn’t have offered.”

“Wow, that makes me feel all tingly inside…” Luz drawled and Willow nudged her with her shoulder.

“Save it for Amity.”

“Willow!” Luz wheezed as the other woman just chuckled.

“If you don’t want to learn to drive from Amity, that’s fine Luz, but you have someone with a car willing to teach you. At the very least text her. She thinks you hate her,” Willow let slip. Amity would be devastated if she knew Willow had said that but the look on Luz’s face was worth the possible repercussions of it coming to light.

“Hate her?! No!”

“I know you don’t,” Willow said as she stood and moved toward the door. “Just stop avoiding her. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a lunch date.” She stepped out into the hall. “Let’s go bondie, it’s your turn to buy!”

“Yeah yeah, I’m coming!” Hunter groused from his room down the hall.

“Wha…?” Luz’s face twisted up and Willow smiled and shrugged.

“A girl’s gotta eat and the company isn’t terrible.” Her smile turned into a grin as Hunter plodded down the hall toward her. “Text Amity,” were her parting words as the two of them left the apartment.

Luz pursed her lips and stared down at her open text history with Amity. The last message from the chemistry student that morning satunanswered.

‘Ams: My last class of the afternoon got canceled, so if you want to practice, let me know.’

Luz sat on her bed, thumbs twiddling anxiously before finally typing out a message.

‘I’m free today, sounds great!’

“You can do this.” She nodded to herself. “Just, relax and take it slow.”

She yelped, nearly coming off the bed when her phone buzzed in her hand.

‘Ams: Cool, I’ll come by your place at 4’

“Cool… I can do this…” She didn’t feel confident about that at all.

~ ~ ~

Luz was pacing around the living room, watching anxiously out the window at five till four.

“Just sit down, she’ll text you when she gets here,” Gus grunted without even looking up from the game he and Matt were playing.

“I know…”

“You make me sick watching you,” Matt griped.

“No one asked you!” Luz growled but before she could go off on the most annoying of her roommates, a familiar silver car pulled up to the curb outside. “She's here, I gotta go!”

“Be careful!” Gus called.

“Don’t kill anyone!” Matt yelled at her back, earning a smack from Gus.

Amity was already climbing out of the car when Luz bounded down the steps toward her.

“Hey, Amity,” she greeted, trying to keep her voice level when Amity smiled at her.

“Hey, I was starting to think you had given up on driving, or maybe I was just a bad teacher,” she teased.

“No, no! Nothing like that,” Luz waved her hands. “No, I’ve just… been really busy lately, projects and all that…” she chuckled anxiously.

“Your dragon sightings thing?” Amity asked, coming around to the passenger side. Luz nodded.

“Yeah… dragons…”

“Ready?” Amity held out the keys. Sunlight glinted off the metal and Luz swallowed thickly before taking them from Amity’s outstretched hand.

“Sure…”

Amity climbed into the passenger seat and Luz took a steadying breath as she moved around to slide into the driver's seat.

The car was eerily quiet as she buckled her seatbelt and checked the mirrors, hand settling on the gearshift.

She jerked when Amity’s hand fell upon her own

“Before we go, I think maybe it would be less stressful for you… and me, if we just drove around the parking lot until you get more comfortable with the basics? I think we jumped the gun last week.”

“Oh, uh, yeah.” Luz nodded, doing her best to steadfastly ignore the way Amity’s hand felt atop hers.

“Great. Look over your shoulder, make sure no one's coming, then pull out,” Amity instructed, and Luz nodded before doing so.

It was still a little jerky as she failed to keep consistent pressure on the gas. She also hit the brakes too hard, though luckily not hard enough to choke either of them out this time.

“Gently, you don’t need to yank it to turn,” Amity told her as they rounded the building, pulling wide but avoiding the curb. They made a good two dozen rounds around the complex working on turns and coming to gentle, complete stops.

Emphasis on gentle

“Better…” Amity grunted as they only jerked a little that time.

Luz groaned and slumped forward, face smashing into the horn and making Amity jerk.

“Luz…”

“Sorry, I don’t think I’m ever going to get this…” Luz grimaced, lifting her face off the steering wheel.

“Sure you will, but it does take practice, that’s all. It’s totally different when you’ve never done it before but after a while, it’s second nature,” she said, reassuring.. “You’re already doing better than last time.I probably wasn’t as helpful as I could have been…”

“No, you were great! I just…” Luz drummed her fingers on the steering wheel and gave a little shrug. “I had the bad experience where I ran into the garage and just didn’t try after that so… I guess I just built it up into this big thing in my mind that I just couldn’t do and didn’t even really want to try.”

“Well, you’re trying now and that’s a great start.” She reached up and laid a gentle hand on Luz’s arm. It was warm and made her skin tingle.

“Right… thanks.” Luz nodded.

“Why don’t we give it a break for today. I have to go get gas anyway,” Amity smirked and Luz flushed.

“Gas money!” she suddenly blurted out, making Amity look at her. “I feel like I should be giving you gas money or something, I mean, you’re letting me use your car after all.”

“Oh, you don’t need to do that, Luz…” Amity started.

“I feel bad that you’re doing this for me but you’re not getting anything out of it…”  She frowned as she put the car in park.

“I don’t mind helping you out, Luz. I have the time and the car…”

“I know but still maybe I could…” Luz paused, a thought suddenly striking her. Did she really want to…? She hesitated long enough for Amity to give her her a curious look, brushing a few strands of lilac hair out of her eyes.

“Could what?” she asked and Luz swallowed.

“Maybe I could… take you to dinner… sometime, if you wanted?” she managed to spit out.

Amity stared at her, eyes wide for what felt like forever. Luz could hear her heart pounding in her ears as they sat there in total silence.

“Or not. That’s fine!” She started pulling off her seatbelt, desperate to escape.

“Wait, I'd love to!” Amity grabbed Luz’s arm before she could fling herself out of the car. Luz stopped, looking back and feeling just as surprised as Amity looked.

“You would?”

“I would, yes.”

“Oh… well, great! I uh… I’ll text you later?” she asked and Amity nodded before Luz climbed out, nearly tripping on herself as she waved and jogged backward up the walk to the apartment door.

Once Amity had driven off, she slipped inside and leaned against the closed door with a grin.

“Yesyesyesyeysyes!” She pumped her fists and squealed.

“What the heck’s up with you?”

She met the gaze of all three of her roommate.

“I have a date with Amity!” she declared with a grin before hurrying down the hall to her room. The door slammed, leaving the boys in quiet.

“You heard the lady.” Gus grinned and held out his hand. Matt and Hunter grumbled as they dug cash out of their pockets and slapped it into Gus’s waiting palm.

“I should have listened to Willow…,” Hunter grumbled.

“Shoulda, coulda, but didn’t.” Gus smirked.

Notes:

I have come back with this oneshot cause after just finally getting my driver's license a lot closer to 30 than to 16 it felt relevant.
