Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

On the very first day in the month of June, what was supposed to be the best day in the lives of my mommy and daddy in one of the wards in that hospital was the day that I was born to them. Two months later in August, for some reason, they had just decided to abandon me at some type of group home or orphanage with kids there older than me or just like me, a baby.

In the middle of August, I remember seeing a woman with blonde hair lead two guys into the place, letting them choosing which kid they want to adopt. Sitting on the floor as they made their way to me, I stuck out my arms to them as a silent request, asking for them to take me and my first word was Dada, calling them both my dads. The two men first faced each other, and then asked that woman for her permission, to which she did. A small smile crossed my face when one of my dads went onto their knees, picked me up and cradled me gently in his arms. My other dad standing next to him told him that I have his facial features and his hair and how one day I'm gonna grow up to look exactly like him, cute as a button, whatever that means.

On that day, I left that group home with my two new dads, who had promised to take care of me, protect me, raise, nourish, nurture, and love me for as long as they are in my life. At my new home with my two new fathers, my new family, that's exactly what they did as per their word. They walked me though I fell on my bum a couple times and had to crawl, fed me as I occasionally made a spill, burped me, bathed me while I played with some toys in warm bubbles, clothed me into my favorite Sesame Street jammies, watched cartoons with me in their arms and coddled me while softly singing a lullaby to help me sleep peacefully into my room, in my crib surrounded by toys, even having to wake up late in the night with a loud cry, for one of my fathers to feed me milk or to change me so we can all go back to sleep again.

On my first birthday, my two new fathers introduced themselves as Troy and Abed and even gave intros to the four peoples sitting around the kitchen island, as their friends from school. My papa Troy wanted me to call them Uncle Jeff, Aunt Annie, Aunt Britta, and Auntie Shirley. However, I called Uncle Jeff as Jeffy, Aunt Britta as Britty, and Auntie Shirley as Sherry, and I got loving awws at them and my dads in response for having tried to pronounce their names correctly, so that was fun. I was also introduced to Ben, Auntie Shirley's son, who was a year older than me so I would have a friend or cousin to play with and be around sometimes, and baba Abed's dad, Gubi, my grandpa.

While baba Abed was video recording me seated at my booster chair with cake in front of me, papa Troy tried to feed a piece of the birthday cake to me with a fork, pretending it's a train on its way into a tunnel, which would be into my mouth. Instead of opening my mouth, with my tiny fist, I grabbed that small piece of cake sitting on the fork, and I smeared it in the middle on his face, making everybody at the table laugh, and I laughed and clapped my hands. Papa Troy with cake now in his face, tried that same tactic one more time, and this time I gave in. Everyone clapped, cheered, and made noises with the noisemakers as I flapped my hands. After the cake and the opening of my presents, Ben and I played with toys while we were being watched over by grandpa Gubi while all the adults sat around and talked about grown-up stuff. Celebrating my first ever birthday with my family at home is the best day of my life and I'm sure they would never forget it. I love them so much!

By my second birthday, Baba Abed, Papa Troy, and I all went to Chuck-E-Cheese. Papa didn't want to pose beside Chuck-E-Cheese the mouse as he's afraid of mice, so Baba Abed posed with me next to him as Papa stood by and took a few pictures of us altogether. Baba, Papa, and I played some awesome arcade games, ate pizza, and I was even watched by them as I played in the indoor playground with all the other kids who were also being watched by their moms and dads. I never wanted to leave, I had way too much fun as Papa Troy had to chase me to get me to go with him and Baba, but at least I got to take home a plushie toy with me.

A few months later, my dads were worried about me having a high fever, the more I coughed, the more I burned up. They drove me to the doctor's and I was scared as much as they were. I needed my Baba and Papa more than anything else to help me feel better. The doctor was very nice and friendly and let me stayed sitting on Baba's lap. She told him and Papa to keep giving me some more warm milk and water, and that it's just a cold I was having.

On the way back home from the doctor's office, Baba Abed sat with me into the backseat of the car and still continued holding me in his arms the same as before. Halfway home, Papa Troy had to stop by at some kind of medicine shop to get kid's only medicine like gummy vitamins and a special kind of Tylenol. My fever did decrease after a nice bath and a sippy cup of ice water. I spent the rest of the night all curled up in Baba's arms, snug as a bug in a rug, until the next day I felt all better again.

I laughed when Papa Troy played peek-a-boo and took me upon his back as if we're playing horsey and we went all around the living room running in circles. We were then sent outside to the backyard by Baba when he was trying to get dinner started for us. So outside, Papa and I continued playing horsey and at one point, he held me at an arms length facing him, and carrying us to one of the lawn chairs by the deck where we sat down, I laughed, giggled and tried to squirm out of his firm grip as he kept kissing my face like one hundred times, until Baba came out and announced that dinner is ready. So, papa and I went inside, closed the screen door behind us and Papa sat me down in my booster chair and he sat next to me by my left.

Baba made unsalted buttered noodles for dinner and he set trays down for all of us to eat our food. When I was given one spoonful of the buttered noodles by Baba, I enjoyed it and as I tried to feed myself a few times, I accidentally spilled some on my favorite blue shirt, and we all laughed. Even as Baba fed himself, he also helped to feed me. I forgot to say it, spending my second birthday at Chuck-E-Cheese is the best day of my life.
