i'd like to preface this by saying that i've neither read nor watched monster, and that this was the first thing i'd read for it, ever.
i'd also like to say that i greatly enjoyed reading this. i don't know if you'll ever see this comment - you posted this fanfic in 2012, after all, and here i am, fourteen years later, but i'd like to tell you that this fanfic has really touched me. it's very beautiful. i don't know why thet followed hugo and i don't have the necessary context to understand why he killed her mom, but i think it's really interesting, telling, whatever that she followed him. he saw her kill her mom and i don't know if she wanted him to kill her too or trusted him of wasn't thinking or what - it feels pretty ambiguous, to me. but i think it's sweet and really sad what happens after - hugo sleeps with the door open, always. he doesn't appear to regret what he's done, but he's still giving her the option of revenge. and she never, ever takes it, not even when she's sixteen and he places a gun in her hands. i think that'res really telling. i think he loves her. i think he loves her a lot. and i think she loves him too. he let her stay and mended her clothes and gave her the option for revenge. i love this and i love their relationship.
i'm really glad i got the opportunity to read this fanfic. :) <3 -
