Chapter Text
'All dispatchers in the area please respond!'
A white noise crackled through a occupants car radio.
'we have a *101*, 29 year old male Wei wuxian, classified as high risk and a boy who goes by the name of wei yuan aged 4, have gone missing.'
Every time the origin of the speaker would stop talking, said radio would continue making its typical static sound, almost like someone frying bacon.
'Older male is suspected suspect of abduction and we implore for everyone to keep their eyes out for any suspicious persons, child has dark short hair and was last seen wearing a red short sleeved top and simple blue trousers.'
The two police officers who sat in the car were now paying attention, staring down at their radio with furrowed brows.
'29 year old last seen wearing white, plain button shirt with plain white trousers, medium length black hair and according to relatives often wears a red ribbon to tie it back!'
With more detail to what the civilians appearance's was, the driver buckled his seatbelt and started the engine. As he started to move the car, he looked at his partner who was reaching to turn on the sirens. He gestured for him to not do so and made his way down the street.
'Missing persons may be in the possession of a grey tesla, as reported missing and authorities are instructed to remain vigilant.'
Turning on the sirens would just give them away, and if the info they've been supplied with is true, then they do not want to be allowing the older male in the possession of the child to see a cop car coming in his direction.
Meanwhile, a grey tesla was making its way through a side road, left hand side followed by a wooded area while the right hand side was followed by a cliff edge with a metal guard fixed on the edges. The pace at which the car was going was uneasy, as if the driver was shaking and every time his hands shook the car shook with him. And if you were to be sitting in the car, you would most definitely see the aura of a scared and unnerved young male.
It was what wei yuan, the child merely 4 years of age, could see.
Said child was strapped in the back, in his car seat, watching anxiously at his Xian-gege. His Xian-gege who's hands were shaky, sweaty and his face what was normally pulled in a easy and fun smile was pulled down in to a frown. His eyes had slight bags to them, as if he hadn't got any sleep and his eyes puffy from what could of been him spacing out again. he had been doing that a lot recently, but his auntie jiang told him to not worry.
Squeezing his tiny hands together in agitation, he looked out his window to see the weather outside going from light grey to dark grey, the spitting of the rain now heavier. He noticed the older male had quickly switched the window shields wipers on.
Slowly gathering the courage, A-yuan called out weakly to his guardian. To only be ignored, now getting more distraught at the lack of reply, his eyes started to water and his lower lip began to tremble.
"X-xian-gege! Whats wrong?"
Wei wuxian stuck his tongue to the roof of his mouth and looked at his mirror to look back at the younger. His eyes, indeed were red rimmed.
"Nothing is wrong, we're just going on a trip, that's all." He sent a reassuring, yet wonky and unsteady smile back at Wei yuan.
It didn't really have the effect he wanted it to do as the young boy clearly was still unsettled and began to cry more louder this time. The weather outside began to get more harsher and Wei wuxian's agitation was growing. His hands more shakier now that he's fully seeing the state of which the child in the back is. The car began to go faster as he pushed his foot down due to his rising anxiety and the car's wheels slightly slid now and then upon the wet ground. To this, he paid no attention.
As his breathing was starting to get more faster, more uneven and forced. Yuan only cried more and wuxian's chest felt heavier and heavier and the cement under the vehicles wheels only got more unsafe. His frustration grew and it grew till he couldn't hold it any longer!
Still driving, Wei wuxian turned harshly towards the child, anger clear in his eyes "Just stop crying already!"
His only reply to that was the vehicle in which he was controlling, suddenly veered to the right hands side. Turning quickly with wide eyes, he frantically and rashly turned the wheel to a sudden left which caused the car to swerve off the road with a screech of the tarmac against the gravel. Yuan screamed in fear and Wei wuxian's face was pulled into a distraught frown as he struggled to gain control. He had no proper chance to though as the car continued its now fast descent down a wooded slope into the left hand side forest which had shadowed his drive ever since he got away from the town.
Wei wuxian had done a lot of stupid things in his life, but this, may be the one in which costs him something ever more precious than his pride.
And as the car continued to roll its way down the branch riddled area, he had only one thought in his mind. And that thought stuck with him, even when the car came to a sudden, hard stop due to the front of the car crashing into the thickest tree trunk. Glass shattered and his head smashed right into the glass, his body jolting from his seat which was unbuckled the whole entire ride in his haste to get the hell away. Bones making an unnerving cracking and grinding sound, a sound bones shouldn't make.
And he laid there for awhile, as his eyes squinted from his prone, hunched form, peering to his side to look at the other passenger which he had in the car. The view was blurry and it only got more blurrier as he felt himself slipping away. The sounds of the world faded, he could no longer hear the wooded area which for sure was full of birds before he crashed through it, harming the peace inside of it. He could no longer hear the sound of the rain that managed to swerve its way through the tree's gaps and onto the metal carcass of the grey tesla.
But more importantly, he couldn't hear his A-yuan.
And with that, his mind processed that thought which he had in his mind the whole entire time he grabbed the younger boy earlier on in the day. The thought that he hold onto even after death.
'I must....protect him.'
The sky was now dark and the sounds of the woods echoed in the young child's ears. Still strapped securely into his car seat, it was clear the boy was unharmed. Besides a few scrapes and bruises. He sat still and quiet. Staring at the still form which was hunched over the cars dash board unnaturally.
As he breathed, it was clear that it was cold, as his breath fogged up in the appearance of smoke like puffs. When he had woken up from his unconsciousness and immediately called out to Wei wuxian he was met with silence, not even a twitch at the sound of his voice. Why wouldn't Xian-gege wake up? Was it because he made him mad by crying? A-yuan promised to never cry again, just please wake up Xian-gege!
His pleads were left unanswered and he didn't know how to get out of his seat. He was stuck in the middle of nowhere with his Xian-gege sleeping and the temperature only got colder and colder. Thankfully the rain had settled down now but the young boy almost missed it. It would be better than this unnerving silence and some of the scary noises that came from the woods.
He sniffed and held in his whimpers of fear and peered out his window. As he looked around he noticed the lack of light and was even more unsettled by how dark it was outside.
As he looked down at his hands, whimpering, he heard the sound of tapping. Like it was someone tapping upon his window. Hearing this, hoping it was someone who came to rescue them, he looked over at the window...
Nothing.
Confused, he furrowed his brows and peered even harder into the dark. Still nothing. When all of a sudden the familiar click of the car door opening jolted him. His door was now open with a very small gap. He strained his ears, now suddenly filled with unknown tension.
The car door was now slowly opening further and further. And yet, Yuan still couldn't see anyone opening said door. It was like some invisible force was doing so. Now that the door was wide open, he stared out of it. Holding his breath.
Small cracking sounds reached his ears, they were subtle and almost...gentle.
Noticing some kind of movement coming closer to the doors wide open position, he looked down at a now outstretched hand that had slowly reached through the opening and to his seats belts. Said hand was unnatural, long and clawed. The hands flesh was sunken in, like it was glued stuck onto the bones of the skeleton. It was grey and smudged with what looked like dirt. They were also bent funny, in a way fingers shouldn't be bent.
These fingers reached to the clasp of his belt and unclasped it, they did it in a way that said that they were familiar with the mechanism. As if they had done it so many times.
Now unclasped, the beings other hand reached in, and placing them under the child's armpits, yuan was lifted out of the car. He got pulled closer to his saviours chest, which was also rather thin, grey and worn down. And due to now being so close, he could now see their face.
The face that stared back at him was different but very familiar. It was slanted slightly and had a large gash which looked dried out upon their forehead. Their face matched the state of the body that A-yuan had observed already. The iris' were now a clouded grey with darker bags underneath, but those eyes were still familiar to the child. They were the eyes who had shined brightly at him while he was being played and teased with. They were the eyes that held such warmth and love. But they were also the eyes that belonged to the now still form within that car.
All hesitation lifted from A-yuan's being and he practically threw himself at the figure. Clasping his hands tightly around the thin neck and shoving his face into the cold yet still comforting form, he felt at peace. A-yuan had called and called so many times.
And Xian-gege finally answered.
He felt as if he was suddenly gliding through the air and in no time at all, they were in front of a old cabin.
A-yuan would come to know this cabin as home. He would be here with Xian-gege for 4 years and would be rescued by the age of 8. But that was something to ponder about in the future. Right now, he was in the care of Xian-gege and was completely safe. He was then settled down onto the ground and he peered over at the other. He now also noticed that his feet weren't touching the ground but he felt no need to question it. And as he looked up, a familiar tune echoed from thin lips. The voice was more distorted but was soothing still.
'fēi huā lián bì fēng liú yì nián shào '
'gū sū yòu fàn chūn cháo '
'qún fēng yǐn yǐn yún shēn chù '
'yán mián zì yǒu xiāng sī dào '
'rén suī qù bīng xīn wèi xiāo'
'yǔ guò pí pá qiào '
