She was a Crownguard too, in every way that mattered.
Except he had grown… fond of her. She was bright, her powers aside, and clever and exceedingly kind. She was also naïve. She was not like her family. If he could just make her see that his goals allied with her own idealism, she could be the greatest thing that had ever happened to him.
It helped that she was beautiful. He had been alone for nearly half his life but he knew that she was a vision even outside of his dark world. Her blushes, the way her eyes shone with the arcane, the silhouette of her lithe body beneath her clothes, were a feast he wanted to gorge himself on. He had never touched her skin, had little experience himself in what that would entail for her, but he had imagined. Oh, how he had imagined.
