Red

Summary:

Yamato has a moment of reflection on his feelings for Sora.

Notes:

Prompt: Red. Passion, anger, romantic love, war… for all of red’s varied symbolism, it represents extremes of feeling. So what are your characters experiencing in extremis today? (200 words)

Set around Kizuna time.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

She was the first sight he fell upon when Yamato opened his eyes that morning. She lay next to him, her body on its side, facing him. Her eyes were closed and she lay quiet, the only movements from her soft breathing in her slumber.

Yamato ran his thoughts of her in his head. He remembered his first memories in their adventures together, when he had seen her swoop into battle along with her Digimon partner, Birdramon, her eyes fiery with the determination to protect her friends.

When she got too upset to speak, he could tell in the way her eyes narrowed and her brows furrowed. He tensed up whenever he happened to step on her toes, but even if he didn't, he knew when to stay out of her way.

He admired her devotion to everything. Her devotion to her hobbies, from putting her sheer focus on each play of a soccer match or using her gentle hands for the delicate flower placement in the art of ikebana. Her devotion to her family and her friends, whom she loved to look after even when she didn't need to.

Not to mention, her devotion to him. She had made the first move by gifting him cookies, but it was her kisses, her smiles, her glances that she thought he didn't catch that showed him just how much she loved him.

And as he watched Sora's lids open slowly for him to be her first sight of the morning, he thought about how lucky he was, and that he might love her even more.

Notes:

Aha! I have now started a prompt fill series. We'll see how this goes, considering this is the April 2nd prompt and I'm posting it 8 days later >.>
