Chapter Text
Remus Lupin wore really big sweaters covered in patches and fraying strings, but he never bothered to replace them until they were so worn through he couldn’t fix them anymore. When he did need a new one, he could be found on the sofa in front of the television surrounded by colorful balls of wool. Sometimes Sirius and James were there too, but more often it was Peter who wanted to learn knitting himself, but Remus was a hopeless teacher. On this day however, the room was being prepped for a party, so Remus found himself in the back corner of the University library across from one Lily Evans. She was in Remus’s tutorial group and the head of the fiber arts club, which up until then Remus had made a very large effort not to join.
And yet, there he was. There were a few others sitting in the circle, chatting away and eating biscuits which Lily’s friend had brought. He had shoulder length black hair with a slight curl to it and dark green eyes. He looked so out of place that it took Remus nearly five minutes before he finally recognized the boy.
“Regulus?”
“You’ve finally noticed” came the dry response.
“You two know each other?”
“He’s dating my brother unfortunately, so yes”
This was all Lily needed to decide that she was Remus’s new best friend. She pestered him with questions all about Sirius who Regulus apparently, “refuses to speak about under any circumstances except to remind everyone how annoying he is,” which Remus found quite funny considering the three of them had dinner together at least once a week.
“Do you want help with that? You’re tensions too loose”
The younger boy glared up at him, “Your mouth’s a bit too loose if you think you can talk to me like that.” Remus chuckled and put up his hands in defeat, walking away and shaking his head.
Regulus tightened his tension.
I didn’t know you knit Reg.
And you still don’t if you know what’s good for you Lupin.
Alright alright. No need to get your hair in a knot. I’ll leave it be xx
Fuck off.
