I'm in love with an emo boy

Summary:

It is the year 2007. Albedo is a guy who likes bright colors, and Kaeya is the complete opposite of that. But you know what they say, opposites attract!

Lots of cringe included.

Notes:

Hello, I’m Ding Dong (RingDoorbell). I will tell you a bit about the story.

We didnt start with a prompt. I just began writing with the first song I got. Then IcedMelonTea wrote with the next song, etc. And now we have a super cringy 2007 story. :P

-

Hey, this is IcedMelonTea! This is the cringeiest fic I’ve ever wrote. /lh

We have a playlist of all the songs we’ve listened to. If you want to listen to it, it’s all right here!

Without further ado, here’s our work! :)

Work Text:

Albedo is a guy who likes pastel, everything pink, and lots of Sanrio plushies. He also likes to listen to anime songs, and he is also a big fan of it.

Now his headphones are playing some future funk as he rides his bicycle, swinging his head side to side to the beat as he fights the urge to close his eyes and listen to the music closer.

The song was just so nice.

It was a beautiful day today, the weather was just right and he was in his best mood. He hopes it will stay like this for the entire day.

Perhaps he should hold a picnic, or just look around and do something fun.

He waved at the people who looked at him.

He’s wearing a bright pink shirt with a pink denim jacket right now, along with a skirt, leg warmers, and hair clips. On his wrists were a lot of bracelets, some he made himself.

He really attracts looks, he knows. But it’s just so fun to dress like this.

He stopped in front of a music shop. Perhaps a new album from his favorite artist is out.

After he parked his bicycle, he walked inside and the vibe was pretty chill. He has always liked shops like these.

He removed his headphones and listened to the music the store had. He walked around a shelf and sees someone organizing the shelf. It was a man taller than him. He seemed to have not noticed Albedo.

“Hey there!” Albedo smiled cheerfully. The man looked at him, a bit startled to see him right there, and accidentally dropped the CD he was holding in his hand on the ground, breaking the case wide open.

“Crap, my manager is going to kill me!” He said in a panicked tone. “Agh, last time this also happened, I shouldn’t be so stupid-“

Seems like this worker hasn’t slept in a few days by the look of his eye bags. Or is it eyeshadow? Albedo wondered.

Either way, the stranger looked a bit emo-like, just like his type.

Albedo put his hands behind his back, swinging a bit around as he kept looking at the stranger.

“Ah, ehm… What can I help you with, sir?” The man with the eyebags offered, sighing when he looked down at the CD before he once again moved his eyes to the man dressed in pink.

Should he just ask for his number? Or ask him if they still have that metal band he likes?

“I haven’t seen you here before. Are you new?” Albedo asks softly.

The man shook his head. “I worked here for a couple of years. Well- not this store specifically. I’m here as a transfer.”

“Oh, cool. Well, in that case, do you have any songs you’d recommend?” Albedo asks politely.

The man eyes Albedo up and down. Will this man like the music he listens to? He seems very… peppy.

Well, it can't hurt to try. The man seems more confident all of a sudden. He picked up the CD case from the ground and looked directly at Albedo.

“The case is a goner, but the CD itself is intact. Care to listen?”

“Ah, sure thing.” Albedo smiled at the man, the other gesturing for him to come along.

And so they walked through the store until they reached a music player. The man took the headset off its place and handed it over to Albedo, then placed the CD into the player.

Albedo put the headset on and wasn’t too surprised when he heard rap beginning to play. He does seem like a rap guy, maybe he thought Albedo would like it as well.

Despite how pink Albedo dresses, and how cute he looks, he listened to death metal.

“So, how do you like it so far?” The man… Albedo looked at his nameplate, and Kaeya asked. Such a pretty name.

“Not my music taste, but I love the artist. Such a nice song too.” He took the headphones off and handed them over to Kaeya, who put them on and a big smile came onto his face.

“I recently discovered it. Ever since then I’ve been buying his albums. I only need the new one they released and I have all of them.”

“You seem like the rap type of guy. Good for you.” Albedo still wore his smile.

“Well, that's not all I listen to. Despite how I dress, I like pop music and indie. Just stuff I can relax on.” Kaeya responded.

Albedo noticed something. Kaeya seemed to look him down a lot. Is it the way he dresses? He thinks he looks cool.

“Is there something on my face?” Albedo asked finally. He wasn’t irritated or anything. He was calm and relaxed.

“Ah, excuse me. I have never seen this fashion before. It’s kinda cool. Not something I’d wear, but on you… you seem to rock it.”

“Hm.” That was all Albedo said before placing his hands onto his sides, raising a brow. “Feel free to look as long as you’d like.”

And so Kaeya did, looking down at his shirt first, then his eyes focused on one of the pins attached to his jacket. It was a pin with the LGBT flag on it, then Kaeya quickly met Albedo’s eyes before his eyes trailed back downwards.

Kaeya didn’t seem grossed out by it or anything, more curiosity in his eyes.

There were heart pins on his jacket as well.

“You seem to like hearts a lot.”

Albedo giggles. “Well, I love… well, love. It’s something I’m into.”

Kaeya smirks slightly. “Let me guess, you read romance?”

“What gave it away?” Albedo jokes.

They both giggled at that before Kaeya asked the next question.

“What’s your name?”

“Albedo.”

Kaeya’s eyes scanned to the next pin, one of a flower.

“Romance and flowers. Let me guess, you like flower language.”

“Eh. I think it’s cool, but I’m not all that interested.”

“I guess roses are your favorite, by the rose pin you have on your jacket.”

“I guess so.” Albedo giggled, not wanting to reveal his real favorite flower. Guess this man will have to find out himself~ “Roses are nice, but I prefer another~”

“And that is?”

“I won’t tell you. I’m just here to buy some albums. You only get to know me if you want to get to know me better, sir.” Albedo added a teasing tone to it, hoping to hint they can exchange numbers on their flip phones through this. “I’ll get that rapper album. You have good taste, Kaeya.” He rolled the name off his tongue, hoping to fluster him.

Kaeya felt a bit warm. This man is someone else. There is no way he could tell Albedo that, but he imagined himself staying up all night and morning talking to him.

Kaeya opened his mouth, wanting to ask when he could see him again, but he froze up. No way can he simply ask “Can I have your info?”

But if he doesn’t, it would be a whole friendship he’s missing out on.

“I…Uhm…” Kaeya then laughed awkwardly and scratched the back of his head.

Seeing that the man didn’t ask about the info, Albedo decided to just do it himself.

“Do you have a notebook with you?” He asked, thinking he will write his info down, give him a wink, and walk off with the CD to get a new case. Leaving Kaeya to think about the offer.

“Ah, yes, I do.” Kaeya got a notebook out of his breast pocket, then a pen. “Which CD are you looking for?”

“Oh, it’s not for that. Give me it, will you?” Albedo smiled sweetly.

Kaeya gave a nod as he handed it over, and the other began writing straight away.

He wrote down his telephone number and his MySpace, before tearing the sticky note off of it and sticking it to his work uniform. He clicked on the CD player to get the CD out, put the notebook and pen back in his breast pocket, and so did what he planned before.

“I’ll get this CD. I won’t tell your manager it was you but that I found it this way. Send me a message, okay?” Albedo winked, not giving the other a chance to reply before he walked away with the same smile on his face.

Kaeya watched as he left. What a cool guy. His name was Albedo, right?

Kaeya smiled to himself. He doesn't mind forming a friendship with him.

He spent the rest of his shift thinking about that man. How interesting he was and how he should get to know him.

-

Once Kaeya got home, he tossed his black backpack on the couch. He had stored it in a locker during his shift. Just brought it with him for food.

He then pulled out the sticky note Albedo gave him with his contact info. He had folded it up and put it in his breast pocket.

Could he talk to him again? It’s only been a few hours, but the man in pink was all Kaeya could think about.

Well, it can’t hurt to check. He took his shoes off and walked over to his desktop to boot it up.

When he opened his MySpace and looked up the account written on the note, he was surprised to see a lot of the pictures on his profile were yellow-themed. Like a picture of the sun, or how he was fully dressed in yellow in a wild style.

Kaeya wonders how this colorful style would fit him. He looks gloomy and puts dark make-up on as well.

Would it look cool? Perhaps he should ask Albedo if he could help him once.

He decided to send a message.

Hi ^_^ This is Kaeya. How are you doing ( ^∀^)

He was satisfied with the message, it seems friendly enough. He sent it, leaning back in his chair as he stared at the screen. Will he reply soon, is he even at home?

It made him a bit nervous.

While waiting for a response, Kaeya decided to look around to see how his other friends are doing. Huh, it seems like everyone is going to that rock concert next week…

Before he got to message his best friend, he got a message back from Albedo.

Wow… already?

~Hi Mr. CD man!~ xD

Mr. CD man? Don’t tell him that’s his new nickname.

Kaeya laughed half-heartedly.

(^O^)What are you up to? I came home and decided to message you straight away. Rawr x3

Kaeya couldn’t help but create a stupid small smile. It’s always fun to make new friends, especially with a guy like him. His heartbeat was a little faster.

Aw, really? Px I was playing a video game!!!

Came Albedo’s response. He plays games, how cool!

Which :O didn’t know you were a gamer!!

Nintendo 64 x3 come join me sometim

Wow, this guy keeps on getting cooler. Kaeya decided he should bring some Nintendo 64 games from home. Lately, he’s been playing adventure games, he should ask if Albedo is okay with that.

I really, really, really like adventure games. And u? Xxx

Oh, really~? Me too! :P Let’s play!

Kaeya put a hand on his chest, the dumb smile only growing bigger. His cheeks were starting to hurt. Man, he can’t wait when they will play.

He left his chair, looked through his box filled with Nintendo 64 games, and picked out the recent adventure game he was busy with. He should send Albedo a picture of it on his flip phone.

And so he did. He got his phone out of his pocket.

As he did so, he thought about how cool it would be to have Albedo over. His apartment isn’t very exciting, but he thinks it would be amusing to see a brightly colored man on his bean bag chair.

He would be clutching the remote controller in his hands as the two of them play Mario Kart 64. Kaeya is pretty good at the game, so he can totally see himself winning.

He chuckled to himself. Sounds like a dream.

It’s summertime now, maybe he should offer some drinks as well.

Kaeya wonders if he likes cocktails. Maybe he can make a pina colada for him, with or without alcohol. Whichever he likes more.

They can sit on the balcony, getting to know each other more. Create their own little paradise together.

Kaeya shook his head a few times. Jeez, he only spoke to him for a few minutes and he’s already fantasizing like crazy. You don’t even really know the man! Kaeya told himself, sighing deeply.

He focused once more when he received a message with: Hello, Kaeyaaa? Anyone thereee~? Px

Kaeya walked back over to the desktop and bit his nails. What does he say now? He can’t think normally after thinking about something like that!

Okay, Kaeya. You’re tough. Think of something.

I’m here. Miss me? ^_−☆

A few moments later, he got another response from Albedo.

HI! Nice to see you again. Hugglez.

Kaeya buries his face into the desk. Great. Now what?

Be a man, Kaeya, you can do this!

Hugglez!!! Also, your pictures are sooooo cool. Sorry I don’t have many pictures instead of me and my emo friends :P

Complimenting him might work.

I love taking picz, also let me check out your photos rn!!~ Plus I saw you send me a photo~

Kaeya let out a shaky breath. Maybe Albedo will think he’s cool as well? He hopes so, so badly. Please think I’m cool!

You should give me a make-over. I saw your style today and so cool xxx. Yellow is a good color for you 2!

I’ll use light purple on you, you seem like that type of guy. How about u come over now? Unlezz you’re too tired x3 no problem, rawr

That’s no problem. What’s your address rawr xP

And so Albedo sent over his address, Kaeya went straight to collecting some make-up pencils and his games to bring with him.

He was excited to hang out with Albedo. He thinks he’s an interesting guy. He thought about all the fun the two of them will have once he was over.

Kaeya fastened his white Nikes and grabbed his backpack off the couch, stuffing some more things inside before heading out.

His breathing was slow, but he could feel his heart pounding. He can see the two of them sitting in the dark and playing games together. Maybe they can go get dinner when the sun sets.

He got inside his car and started it up, ready to drive over to Albedo’s.

An energetic song was playing on the radio as he drove, humming along with the song. It was Korean, so it wasn’t like he knew the lyrics.

He arrived not too long later, put the backpack onto his back, checked if the car was locked after he stepped out, and walked over to Albedo’s apartment complex with a bit of a hop in his walk. He’s so excited after all.

He knocked on the door once he arrived, twice, before taking a step back, his hands on his sides and his head slightly tilted with a smile.

When the door opened, he saw Albedo in his bright pink clothing and a big smile as well.

“CD guy!”

“It’s Kaeya to you, sir~”

“Hehe.” Albedo giggled, his eyes starting to smile along as he took a step aside so the other could enter. “Come in, come in!”

“I’ll welcome myself in, heh.” Kaeya stepped inside and wiped his shoes onto the welcome doormat.

As they got inside, Kaeya removed his shoes from the doorway and set them aside. He looked around to see that Albedo’s apartment is pretty decked out in pastels and plushies. Sure it’s not his style, but Kaeya was chill about it.

“Your apartment is, well… cute.” Kaeya complimented. Thankfully, Albedo took it as one.

“Thank you, Kaeya.” He beamed. “So, what game do you want to play? There’s a bunch of games I’ve been meaning to check out.”

“Ah, actually.” Kaeya got the backpack off his back, opened the zipper, and got the adventure game out. “Look at this!”

Albedo blinked a few times. He was sure they would be up playing this game at 3 AM as well. Maybe make a nice cup of coffee, or tea if Kaeya prefers that, to keep the both of them awake.

“Man. Where did you buy this? Heard it’s pretty rare.” Albedo grinned, thinking spending time with Kaeya will be a fun time.

“I have my ways, Albedo,” Kaeya responded smoothly. “Let's go play this game!”

It wasn’t long before the two of them were on the couch, playing the game. It was only for one player, so Albedo had the controller with Kaeya sitting next to him.

There were stars in Albedo’s eyes. He wasn’t even trying to contain his excitement. It was truly adorable of him. A smile plastered on Kaeya’s face.

“Awe. I got a game over.” Albedo pouted after two hours of playing. He looked over at Kaeya. “Do you want to take over for a bit?”

Kaeya shook his head. “I prefer watching you play.”

“If you say so.” Albedo leaned over and poked at the gauges in Kaeya’s ear. He was so close that Kaeya could smell the scent of honey and cinnamon on Albedo. It was nice, but…

He’s a little too close, isn’t he?

The sun was starting to set outside, the line between light and dark thin. The lighting only made his colorful clothes shine even more.

“Ah… Ehm…”

“I wonder if I should stretch my ears as well.” Albedo backed off with a small smile, having noticed Kaeya’s uncomfortableness. “Too close?”

“Ah… I got flustered, that's all.” Kaeya chuckled as he rubbed the back of his neck. He didn’t mind much, aside from the fact he will never get that beautiful smell out of his nose anymore. Damn does he want to be so close to him again, why did he get so flustered?

Agh, he ruined the moment!

“Hehe.” Albedo giggled, mischief in his eyes. “Sorry, it’s fun to tease you, Mr. CD guy.”

Kaeya pouted at that, moving his hand to his ears to feel the piercing. He fiddled with it.

“I guess we should take a break from gaming and do a little make-over.” Albedo stood up from the couch and stretched his arms before him.

Right. They were going to switch styles. Could Kaeya really pull it off?

“I have a few oversized pieces of clothing. They might fit your tall frame.” Albedo said as he walked off to his bedroom, chuckling to himself on the way there.

Kaeya stood up as well, following him along. Albedo’s jacket has bunny ears on the hood, he noticed. How cute.

Why does his heart beat so loud? They were here to make friends but… He can’t help but feel like this is some love at first type thing. Or maybe he just thinks he’s too cool?

Kaeya felt a bit dizzy with all these new feelings, but they were more than welcome.

“Let’s see…” Albedo opened his closet after they arrived, revealing all sorts of colors and accessories. Kaeya found it cute that he had a cat hairband in there as well.

“Do you like to cosplay too, Albedo?” Kaeya asked.

“Oh, no, these are just accessories I sometimes wear when taking photos. I like anime though. Card Captor Sakura is my favorite.”

Of course, such a cute anime for such a cute person. It made Kaeya smile.

Albedo picked up the cat ears, putting them onto Kaeya’s hair with a playful grin.

“Oh, come on, silly.” Kaeya stuck his tongue out to him, revealing a small piercing in his tongue as well. “Do I really have to wear this?”

“It looks super cute on you.” Albedo laughed slightly.

Kaeya reached up and felt the fuzzy ears. Well, if he thinks it’s cute…

“Don’t be insecure.” Albedo went back to his closet and picked up an oversized lavender hoodie and a few pink bracelets. This would definitely look nice on Kaeya.

Kaeya was simply happy having Albedo’s undivided attention. He was bringing out a lot of clothing, excited to see what would work best for him.

What brought them out of their zone was a phone ringing, ‘Butterfly’ by Smile was playing as a ringtone.

“Oh! I’m getting called! Be right back.” Kaeya said as he walked out of the room, still with cat ears on.

He hurried over to his backpack and got his flip phone out, answering it with a click of the button.

“Yo, what’s up?”

“Hey, it’s Childe. We got another place to perform soon! You should invite all your other friends so they can come watch, Mr. Bassist.”

Kaeya chuckled at the name. He’s getting nicknames left and right.

“I recently made a new friend, I’ll ask him to come. He’s quite an interesting guy, maybe a good fit for our band too? Since we are looking for a singer and all…”

“If he can sing, make him audition for us once. If Kaeya Alberich says he’s good, then I believe you.” Childe laughed.

“Alright, tell the others that I’ll be there soon.” Kaeya hung up. He threw his phone back in the backpack, then walked back into the room with the other.

“Hey, Albedo, would you like to check out my band soon?” He asked him with a small smile on his face.

“Hm?” Albedo blinked. “You’re in a band? I can see that. You’re getting cooler and cooler, Kaeya.”

C-C-Cool…?!

“O-Oh, thank you. I think you’re way cooler though…” Kaeya couldn’t help but smile very dumbly at that compliment. No way is he as cool as the man dressed in pink.

“Hehe, really?” Albedo was the one sticking his tongue out now, revealing a tongue piercing in his tongue as well. “Put these clothes on, big guy.”

He handed over the clothes, then walked past him out the door, waving once when they made eye contact before he closed the door.

“Oh! You can take a look for more accessories in my wardrobe!” Kaeya heard him shout through the door, he shouted back ‘okay’.

He pulled his shirt over his head, then put the hoodie on. So colorful, still. Kaeya loves black, so he was not used to something so bright. But it’s cool to see.

He put the bracelets on as well. So pink…

Kaeya looked over to see some accessories. He didn’t want to use too many, so he grabbed a few blue hair clips to hold back his bangs. He still has black jeans on since there’s no way Albedo had any pants that were too big for him.

Kaeya played with his long hair. The hair clips do make a difference…

He heard a knock on the door.

“Mr. CD guy, are you okay in there?”

Ah, is it already time to show Albedo his outfit?

“Ah, ehm, come in!” He managed to stumble out.

Albedo opened the door wide open, stepping into the room with a wide smile. But when he made eye contact, his smile faded instead he looked surprised with his mouth to open a bit.

“Wow. Just needs some make-up fixed, and you’re all ready.” Albedo kept staring, before walking over to his bed, putting his knee onto it, and crawling until he reached a plushie, and threw it his way. “Here, catch!”

Kaeya let out a small ‘Oh’ as he catches the plushie. Albedo got his flip phone out as he shifted onto the bed until he sat at the edge.

“Is it okay if I take a picture? It’s only between the two of us, I promise. I mean, you look pretty good. Maybe a good picture for a background wallpaper, y’know. Haha.” Albedo laughed nervously and gulped slightly, clicking the button to go to the camera function.

Kaeya was a bit shy, but he trusted that Albedo wouldn’t show it off to anyone.

“Okay. What should I do? Pose?” Kaeya chuckled nervously.

Albedo was just as shy, but he didn’t want Kaeya to know that.

“Just be yourself!” Albedo beamed. Kaeya smiled at the other's happy expression. There’s no way he can say no to such a sweet face.

So Kaeya decided to hold up a peace sign and stick his tongue out at the camera.

Albedo laughed as he snapped the photo. “So silly!”

The camera flash was as bright as when it was day, Kaeya had to blink it away to be able to see again. Damn flip phones.

“Show me how it looks.” Kaeya walked on over, plopping down next to Albedo.

Albedo moved back a little on the bed, crossing his legs over each other as he opened the picture and showed it to him.

“Maybe I should post this one. Scene king turned colorful.” Kaeya giggled, making the other laugh as well.

“You’re silly, Kaeya. I like that about you.” Albedo winked, making the other flush a little.

“You should come over to my house one day.” Kaeya smiled. “I will make you look so cool. Though oddly enough, I think you’d look better in bright colors.”

Albedo smiled sweetly. “I’d like that.”

-

The two lay in bed talking about anything that came to mind. Eventually, it got late and Kaeya had to go.

“It’s getting late. I should go…”

Albedo frowned. “Stay over? We can stay up late and play that racing game. I will crush you at it though.”

Tempting. Kaeya does enjoy playing video games with Albedo. It creates this vibe that feels nice and comforting.

“Cmon~ scared that I will beat you several times? Albedo teased.

Kaeya chuckled. “Alright. You win.”

“Let me change first though. Your hoodie is still a bit on the small side.” Kaeya sat up, pulling the hoodie over his head and putting his old shirt back on. He pulled the bracelets off his wrist as well.

Albedo meanwhile stared at the ceiling, acting distracted so he didn't look at Kaeya.

“Let’s go,” Kaeya said cheerfully, watching the other sit up. “Let’s see who wins, me probably!”

And so Albedo stood up, and the two of them went back to the Nintendo 64.

After they were done, both of them were tired and sat on the couch, Kaeya’s head resting on Albedo’s shoulder by accident since he fell asleep.

They were tied with the game. Albedo pouted as he wanted to play one last round to see who would win, but it seems like the other fell asleep before that.

It felt nice, having Kaeya rest of his shoulder. He liked feeling him close. He hopes he can see the guy more often. He’s fun to hang out with.

Albedo moved a bit, hearing Kaeya mumble something.

“Cmon, Kaeya. I need to get you a blanket. I don’t want you to catch a cold.”

After wriggling a little so he could stand up, he finally managed to and laid Kaeya down on the couch. He then calmly walked over to the cabinet to grab a spare blanket for him.

“Sleep tight, Kaeya,” Albedo whispered as he threw the blanket over the sleeping man.

As Kaeya was sleeping, Albedo walked over to his iPod, put the earbuds in, and started listening to an upbeat Spanish song. He almost wanted to dance on it, but decided not to wake the other.

He bobbed his head as he sat down at the eating table in the kitchen, a tangerine in his hands as he started to unpeel it. Then he stuck some pieces in his mouth, tapping his foot to the beat of the song.

Maybe Kaeya likes to dance? They can jam out together. Not to mention, Kaeya is in a band…

He wonders what's the band like. Probably not that popular, hopefully, the music was good at least.

What he didn’t expect is for a sleepy Kaeya to come into the kitchen as well, yawning as he rubbed his eye.

“Hey there, sorry I fell asleep.” Kaeya chuckled.

“It’s no problem. Hope you rested well, even if it’s short.”

Kaeya went to join Albedo at the eating table.

“So, have you thought about my proposal to come to see my band?”

Albedo tapped his chin. “Hmmm, I don’t know. Will your friends like me?”

“They will love you! Of course, you will be the only colorful person in the room. I’m sure they will like you regardless.”

Albedo laughed slightly. “Alright. I think I’m ready to see your band. You better not suck though.”

Kaeya chuckled. “We won’t. Right now, we only perform covers, but in the future, I want to write original pieces.”

Albedo popped another tangerine piece in his mouth. “I think you will do great. I hope you achieve your dream of becoming a famous rockstar.”

Kaeya almost jumped. “How did you know-“

“Please, it’s written all over your face.”

Kaeya’s face felt the hottest he has ever felt it be. Shit, really? And here he thought he hid it well!

Albedo’s eyes went down to his shirt, with of course a band on it, raising an eyebrow at it.

“Haha… Right.” Kaeya laughed.

“I’m learning more about you. I’m very interested in your band.” Albedo laid his arms on the table, leaning forward until he rested his cheek on the table. Looking a bit bored. “But do you really have to leave? The night is young, we can continue to play games and get to know each other better! I have so much to learn, for example, which instrument you play and what else are your hobbies and-“

“Okay, okay, got it, sir. I’ll stay an hour longer.”

“More, if I convince you to.” Albedo grinned playfully, Kaeya could only sigh at it.

-

They spend the rest of the night playing games and dancing to music. There was even a moment when Albedo did Kaeya’s makeup for fun. It was truly a night not to be forgotten.

But alas, all good things must come to an end.

It was 4 am when Kaeya was standing outside the doorway. His bag slung over his shoulder.

Albedo was still in his socks and standing inside.

“Do you really have to go?” He asked, rubbing his eyes. Kaeya couldn’t help but chuckle at the display.

“You're tired, Albedo. Get some rest for me, okay? I’ll pick you up tomorrow for practice. Sounds like a plan?”

“Deal.” Albedo giggled quite cutely at that. “Also, I like your eyes better without make-up. You apply too much black to your outfit.”

“I’ll keep it in mind.”

Albedo looked down at Kaeya’s white Nikes. The only thing in his entire outfit that wasn’t black. But white instead.

“I have cooler shoes. I just went for something casual this time.”

“Show me them tomorrow. I think chains will suit your shoes.”

Kaeya nodded. “Alright. I’ll show you my outfit tomorrow. I’m sure it will impress you.” He winked. Well, he was wearing an eyepatch. Albedo wasn’t sure if that counted as a wink.

“Well, goodnight, Kaeya.” Albedo said softly. “Get some rest, okay? I want you in your best condition tomorrow.”

“Alright. Goodnight, Albedo.” Kaeya waved and turned around to walk off.

Albedo watched as he left. He didn’t know him long, but he felt something bloom in his chest. He didn't understand the feeling, but it felt good.

That night, he lay in his bed dreaming about singing on stage with Kaeya.

Meanwhile, Kaeya hummed to himself as he walked with a bit of a hop in his step, just like he did at the start. This was truly a fun day, even more fun than he imagined.

He sang out some stupid romantic lyrics from a love song, heads in the clouds as he opened his car door and got inside.

He really wanted to take a nice walk in a park right now with the man, but it was late and he needed to get some sleep. He’s so sleep-deprived he thinks of stupid and silly things to do with Albedo.

-

It was a new day and Kaeya woke up in a good mood. He brushed his teeth while a love song was playing. Not to mention he spends his time singing in the shower. Only in a shower can anything sound lovely.

He got dressed in all black, putting on some black combat boots with chains on them. He skipped makeup today. Definitely not because Albedo said he wore too much. Definitely not.

Today was the day he was going to pick up Albedo and take him to band practice.

“You’re something more than a memory~” Kaeya hummed to himself as he put his iPod in his pocket, earbuds in as he was riding his bicycle. He felt like taking the bicycle today. Not like he wanted to have Albedo on the back of his bicycle or anything.

“I don’t know what I’m gonna do, everything just brings me back to you~” He continued to sing, letting his earbuds rest on his shoulders after he removed them, having arrived at Albedo’s apartment complex.

He went up the stairs and knocked on the door. The both of them got less sleep, but that’s okay since they both had fun.

“Hey! I came with a bicycle today, I hope you don’t mind sitting behind me?” Kaeya asked when the door opened, chuckling a little. Was it a dumb idea to bring his bicycle? Will Albedo like it?

“Let me guess, it’s so I could ride on the back and hold onto you?” Albedo teased. “You could have told me.”

“W-What? No, be quiet.” Kaeya played with his hair as he averted his eyes. He got caught red-handed.

Albedo laughed. “Don’t worry, I don’t mind. Let me get my shoes and I’ll be right outside, okay?

Kaeya took the time to admire Albedo. He was wearing a nice mint blue sweater today with white shorts. His socks were of purple cats. It was truly adorable of him.

Albedo turned to the coat hanger, picking up his pink denim jacket with the pins. Kaeya looked at the heart pin again.

Then he walked over to where he stores his shoes, got some purple-colored sneakers out, and kneeled to put them on. Then he walked back and greeted Kaeya with a smile after getting up.

“Let’s go! Bet your bike is just as black as your outfit.”

“Oh, shut it you silly.” Yet Albedo was right, his bike was black as well.

Albedo already walked ahead of Kaeya, humming a song to himself.

“You’re in a good mood.” Kaeya pointed out as he walked alongside Albedo.

“Of course I am! I’m excited to see your band.” Albedo held his hands behind his back. “I dreamed about your band last night, so you can say I'm pretty excited.”

Kaeya grinned as they reached his bike. “I won’t let you down then.”

Both got seated onto the bike, Kaeya on the front and Albedo sitting sideways on the back.

Kaeya began riding, and Albedo put his arms around Kaeya, leaning his cheek onto his back. Man, does he feel strong. Does he work out?

Albedo’s type: Must be scene or emo + needs to be in fit shape. Perfect.

The city they live in looks quite gloomy, almost as gloomy as how Kaeya looks. Less gloomy due to the lack of make-up though.

Speaking of which…

“You’re not wearing makeup today,” Albedo mentioned.

Kaeya hummed. “I decided to go natural today.”

“You’re very pretty. Has anyone told you that?”

Kaeya nearly crashed, making Albedo cling to him harder.

“Woah! Didn’t expect that reaction out of you. You get flustered easily.” Albedo chuckled. “I ought to flirt more, but I’ll save that for when we are off the bike.”

“I would appreciate that, thank you.” It was clear to hear Kaeya’s flustered tone.

The rest of the bike ride was quiet, Albedo just enjoying the wind and he clung to Kaeya. Like a dream come true.

Kaeya parked the bike at a building, getting off his seat after Albedo let go of him. What a shame, he wanted to hold onto him a little longer.

“Here it is. We practice here.” Kaeya began, but Albedo got too lost in his eye to focus on anything more. Wow, he truly has a beautiful eye, it looks like it sparkles a little. How wonderful.

It makes Albedo wonder why he covers the other eye. Well, it doesn’t matter. He’s watching Kaeya’s lips move, but he’s not listening to what’s going on.

Kaeya is… a pretty man. He has a well-structured face and a nice build. Albedo couldn’t help but stare.

“Albedo? Are you coming?” Kaeya gently put a hand on his shoulder.

“Aghhh... I really can’t wait!” Albedo’s lips grew into a big smile, the both of them walking to the entrance and then entering.

Kaeya asked the receptionist which room his bandmates were in before they walked over to the room when they got the answers.

“So… you rent a room here to play?” Albedo tried to start a conversation. “I wonder how your friends are, as gloomy as you maybe?”

“Ah, am I really that gloomy?”

“In a good way. I like gloomy people, they’re attractive.” Albedo poked his side with his elbow, and a wink added to the mix as well.

Once they enter the room, Albedo sees three other people in the room.

One a ginger holding a guitar in his arms, and the other one is a tall woman walking around the room asking the ginger where her drumsticks are. Lastly, a woman with purple hair plays a few keys on the keyboard. They all look pretty cool!

“Hey, guys.” Kaeya waved. “Here’s the friend I was talking about!”

“Yo, what’s up?” The ginger asked, the tall woman just looked him up and down and the purple-haired woman didn’t pay attention to him. "I'm Childe, nice to meet you!"

“What’s with your get-up?” The tall woman asked with a raised brow. Kaeya chuckled slightly at it.

“Ah, don’t mind Rosaria. You look just fine Albedo, she’s a little judgemental about all the people we bring…”

Rosaria looked away, arms crossed over her chest. Albedo figured she’s the type who needs to warm up to him before she’s a little nicer.

Each of them was wearing emo-like make-up, it was cool to see. And here Albedo is with his pastel colors. It made him giggle.

“Hey guys, I’m Albedo. I heard you guys needed a singer?”

“That we do! Bring it on.” The ginger said, turning to the purple-haired girl. “Come on, show some interest too Keqing-“

“I’m trying to figure out these chords. I haven't practiced since last practice.” She cuts him off.

The man rolls his eyes. “Can you at least play this one song for us?”

“Hm? Oh. Okay.”

Meanwhile, Albedo stepped in front of the microphone stand and took a deep breath. He looked over to Kaeya to see him give a thumbs up for him.

The music started with Keqing playing a few notes on her keyboard. “Do you know this song? It came out about last year.”

Albedo chuckled a bit. “Of course, I know this song. I don’t live under a rock, you know.”

Keqing just shrugged.

Rosaria went to sit behind the drums, grabbing her drumsticks and joining in when the music began for real.

Albedo took another breath in, a shaky one at that. Despite he’s often in the spotlight, it’s a bit scary to sing.

“When I was… a young boy.” He began when it was his turn to sing. Kaeya’s jaw dropped at that.

And so Albedo sang the song as the rest of them played the background music.

After they were done, everyone turned to Albedo.

“I guess we found our singer!”

Kaeya was the first to cheer for Albedo.

Albedo smiled at Kaeya and did a little bow.

“Thank you.”

Childe walked over and slapped Albedo’s back. “You’re not so bad. Albedo. With you? We may have a chance of reaching the top!”

Kaeya chuckled. “I told yall he would be amazing.”

“For now we gotta concentrate on becoming better. We may have an amazing singer, but we have to grow with him.” Keqing told them with a small hum, her fingers onto her chin. All of them agreed.

The following days it was spent practicing in the room. The band was pumped up.

“To think we were in such a big slump.” Childe laughed.

Rosaria nods. “Good practice, everyone.”

Kaeya lightly slaps Rosaria’s shoulder. “Lighten up! We are about to perform our first gig soon!”

“Which is why we need to get good,” Rosaria argues, moving her bangs out of her face.

Keqing turned her keyboard off. “We should get going, guys.”

“Oh!” Albedo turned to Kaeya. “Don’t forget, after practice, you were going to take me to the skate park!”

Kaeya watched as Albedo's blue eyes sparkled. He seemed excited about it.

“I didn’t forget, Albedo. Let me clean up my space and we can go together.”

Kaeya looked away from Albedo for a second. In the distance, Kaeya watched as Childe wiggled his eyebrows. Ugh. What a weirdo.

Kaeya sticks his tongue out at him.

Kaeya had recorded their playing on his iPod touch, and so put his earbuds in when he walked over to it laying on the table, proceeding to listen to it again after picking it up.

“Eh. A few mistakes…” He said to the other band members when the song was over. “But decent enough. We had fun!”

“And that’s what matters!” Childe played an air guitar, which made the others chuckle. “Onto the skate park, we go to celebrate! Oh, right-“

Childe turned to Albedo. “Do you know how to skateboard? You did bring something with you right, or did Kaeya forget to tell you?”

“Don’t worry. I can roller-skate. I brought them with me.” Albedo smiled with his eyes, walking over to the entrance door of their music room and picking up the bright pink-colored roller skates. “I would say I’m quite good at it.”

“Good, good. That will do.” Childe put his hands onto his sides. “All of us have skateboards though. Hope you don’t mind.”

“I designed my own.” Kaeya proudly said, putting his hands onto his sides as well and pushing his chest out in pride. “Had to use graffiti, heh.”

Albedo looked at Kaeya with wonder and amazement. “I want to see it!”

“It’s in my car. I’ll show you once we get there.” Kaeya chuckled. He’s happy to see Albedo pumped.

Everyone put their instrument back in its place. It would be safe to leave them here as they rented this room after all. Kaeya stuck his iPod in his pocket and smiled at Albedo once they made eye contact.

“Roller skates, huh. Suits you.” Kaeya tried to add a wink to be flirty, forgetting that he was wearing an eyepatch so the other would likely not notice.

“Skateboarding suits you too, Mr. CD Guy.” And the guy seemed to wink back at him. Keqing was the one clearing her throat to make them stop.

Rosaria stuck her tongue out from behind them. “When are you two going to make o-“

Childe quickly moved to cover her mouth. “Sh! Let it happen naturally!”

Kaeya looked over his shoulder at the two. “Let what happen?”

“Nothing!” Childe laughed awkwardly.

“Hmm…” Kaeya turned his head back around and held his hands behind his back while humming a Green Day song.

Practice was done extra early, so when all of them were outside they could see the sunrise.

Albedo looked up at the sky and let out a small ‘wow’, his roller skates in his hands and shoulder bag across his chest onto his shoulder.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Kaeya grinned as he extended his arm around his shoulders, the other now looking at Kaeya with sparkling eyes.

“Yes. It’s… fun, being with you all.”

“Awww. That’s so nice of you to say Albedo!” said Childe.

“Heh.” Albedo moved his eyes back to the sunrise in front of them, before they started to walk to the nearby skatepark.

Meanwhile, they walked, Kaeya went to his car real quick and got the skateboard out, before joining the rest of the group.

The walk was only ten minutes. Once they got there, everyone went their own way, leaving Albedo and Kaeya alone.

“So…” Albedo started. “Do you want to teach me how to use your skateboard? You can hold my hands as I try to balance myself~”

Kaeya placed his skateboard down. “Are you sure you want to learn? It’s a bit tricky.”

Albedo nodded excitedly. “Yes!”

“Maybe you can learn how to use roller skates?” Albedo showed off the bright pink roller skates he was holding, holding them out for him to take. “You need some color with your black outfit, take it!”

“Ah, eh… Sure.” He took over the roller skates from Albedo. “But later. Let me teach you first.”

“Step on it.” Kaeya set them down so he could have his hands free for Albedo. He then held his palms out for him to hold. “Trust in me.”

“Okay.” Albedo nodded, before carefully stepping one foot on the skateboard and putting the other one on. It seemed to go decent enough.

Kaeya couldn’t help but blush a little when he felt Albedo’s soft hands on his when he put them in. He must take good care of his hands as well, unlike Kaeya whose hands are a bit rough from playing the bass.

“Is this okay with you?”

“It’s perfect. Thank you.”

Kaeya smiled gently. “Okay. Lesson one of skating is…”

Albedo listened carefully to what Kaeya had to say. He made an excellent teacher, and Albedo was grateful for that.

After a while, Kaeya slowly let go of Albedo’s hands. He didn’t want to let go of those soft hands, but he had to.

“Okay, just like I taught you.” He said.

Albedo had one foot on the ground and used that to push the board, making him move.

But he skated forward a little too fast. Kaeya gasped and widened his eyes when he saw him heading his way.

“Ah, Albedo, watch out-“

But before Albedo could stop himself, he crashes into Kaeya, making the both of them fall.

Kaeya fell softly since he wore a hoodie today, yet it still stung a little. He let out a small ‘ouch’ as he fell half on his butt and half on his elbows to soften the landing. Albedo was on top of him, letting out a small ‘ouch’ too.

The both of them came by from their panting, yet there was something mischievous in Albedo’s eyes when they made eye contact.

“That sure went wrong…” Kaeya chuckled, eyes smiling along with it. “Are you okay? Injured or anything?”

“No… I'm fine” Albedo’s breath was airy, focusing on his lips instead of his eyes with a small breath.

Kaeya, who had noticed, blinked a few times before getting into the situation. He looked the other up and down, taking in his face.

He got an idea now why Albedo bumped into him. He did it on purpose since he could’ve stopped himself.

He was planning to create an opportunity to kiss.

Kaeya bit his lip softly.

“Uhm… Can I?” Came Albedo’s sweet voice. The other was silent for a moment, before nodding softly.

Albedo leaned in, hesitating a bit before pressing his lips against Kaeya’s. His eyes fluttered shut once he felt the other kiss him back. He wrapped his arms around his neck as he deepened the kiss.

Albedo tastes like strawberry lemonade. Strange, did he put on flavored lip balm when Kaeya went to the car?

Albedo had it all planned out it seemed.

His lips are super soft too… Along with his hands and his personality.

Everything about Albedo is soft, his clothing style too…

Kaeya got lost in the softness, Albedo’s arms hugging a little tighter and shifting a little to make himself more comfortable. They were half-laying on the ground after all.

Kaeya reached a hand out to his face, putting a strand of hair behind his ear before cupping his ear. The longer they kissed, the more Kaeya sat up to kiss him better.

They both tried to calmly breathe through their noses to keep the kiss going, but both of their hearts raced.

Albedo had an interest in the man the moment he saw him in the CD shop after all.

Kaeya was different. He felt a connection immediately. He’s been wanting to kiss him like this for a long time.

After both of them lost their pace, they both pulled away. They took the extra time to gaze into each other’s eyes.

“I see you feel the same way, hmm?” Albedo smiled brightly.

Kaeya chuckled. “I suppose I do. For a long time actually.”

“Why didn’t you make the first move then? I was interested the second I saw you in the CD store.”

Albedo could feel happiness wash over himself. He fumbled with a hairclip on his bang when he crawled back so they could properly face each other. Kaeya sat up fully now, and Albedo sat with his legs next to his hip.

“Ehm… Because-“ Kaeya gulped and looked away with wide eyes. “Because you were so cool and cute. I loved your pastel style, and when you showed me your personality I fell even deeper. I thought we should be friends first, and then see how it goes.”

Albedo giggled, his nose scrunching a bit up with his smiling eyes.

“You’re so cute, confessing to me like this.”

Kaeya gasped, realizing they had just fallen and the skateboard was still lingering somewhere.

“Ah, my skateboard-“ He looked around, before letting out a breath of relief when he saw it a little further. He reached his hand out to it, took it, and then pulled it against his chest to comfort himself.

“Continue with your confession?” Albedo asked as he tilted his head, a small smile on his lips as well.

“Ah, ehm… I liked it when you bought the CD I showed you.”

“And?”

“I liked it when you dressed me up in your style.”

“And??”

Kaeya flushed. “Why don’t you say something now?”

Albedo leaned in and placed a quick kiss on Kaeya’s cheek.

“Fine, I’ll say it. I love you and I want to take you on a date.”

Kaeyas eyes widened. “Woah, seriously?”

“Well, why else would I kiss you?” Albedo teased. “That’s how I feel, Kaeya. From the bottom of my heart.”

Kaeya could only open his mouth and blink at the other. He had really been asking out on a date.

“Is everything okay here?” Keqing skated on over, and the both of them got shocked out of their little daydream.

Kaeya could only nod and look away with his eyes, while Albedo smiled brightly at the girl.

“Everything is just fine! Guess who asked someone out for a date!” Said Albedo cheerfully.

“W-Wha-“ Kaeya stuttered.

Keqing just gasped, before turning and shouting. “Guys come here quickly, Kaeya has something important planned!”

“Agh, how embarrassing.” Kaeya tried to hide behind his skateboard. Albedo could just chuckle.

Albedo kept staring at Kaeya however, waiting for him to move the skateboard aside. And when he did, he was greeted with a small smile.

“I’ll look forward to it,” Kaeya whispered before the others gathered around.

But before they reached them, Albedo leaned in closer and whispered in his ear…

"My favorite flowers are Cecilia's. Be sure to bring them on our date for extra points!"

Kaeya grinned as he gave a few nods.
