Chapter 1: One Night at Flumpty's

Chapter Text

Luigi knew he was sleeping in his bed in his bedroom at the Mario Bros. House.

But when he awoke, he found himself in a different room. An old office of some sort, with a door on the left and a door on the right. There was also a desk with some... very unpleasant decorations on it. Not to mention the rotten food on the floor. Luigi was looking around when suddenly the phone rang. Luigi picked it up and was greeted with a happy voice.

"Hi! I'm Flumpty Bumpty. I'm an egg. I'm immune to the plot and can transcend time and space. Also, I'm coming after you. You can figure out the rest! Heh heh... Have fun!"

Flumpty hung up. Luigi was scared. What is going on? Who is Flumpty Bumpty? Luigi noticed a laptop on the desk. It was running and had a program loaded up. This was the camera system. Luigi looked around at the many cameras around the building.

In one camera, he found Flumpty the egg. But there was also a rectangular headed boy wearing a party hat. It didn't take long for Luigi to figure out what was going on.

"I'm-a in one of those survival horror games!" Luigi said aloud.

Luigi kept looking through the cameras. Camera 3 was not working at all and only showed red static. Camera 6 showed the bathroom, with a beaver sitting on the toilet reading a newspaper. Luigi didn't want to watch that one for too long. Camera 5 showed a seemingly empty room, but there was a hole with a lot of eyes peeking out of it. Luigi counted 25.

Suddenly, Luigi heard footsteps at the left door. He turned on the light and saw Flumpty standing outside the door. Luigi yelped and immediately closed the door. He did not want to know what happens when you let anyone in!

It was 1 AM now. Luigi checked the cameras again to see if anyone else was getting close, and found the rectangle-headed kid in a fancy getup, with a monocle and a top hat and a very elegant looking tuxedo. Nevertheless, he was getting close to the office, and Luigi closed the door on the right.

Meanwhile, Flumpty had left the office and roamed around the building. Everything was going according to his plan.

"This little green plumber sure is smart," said the rectangle-headed man as he was approaching Flumpty.

"What do you mean by that, Blam?" Flumpty asked.

"You do know who we're dealing with here, right?" asked Blam.

"Why he's just a harmless plumber! Not to mention he's scared as heck! We'll get him in a snap!" said Flumpty, confident that Luigi would lose the game.

"This is Luigi we're talking about. This is the same guy that vacuumed up a bunch of ghosts in a haunted mansion!" said Blam.

"Nah, that's nothing."

"He can win party games by doing nothing at all."

"So?"

"Did I forget to mention his sinister Death Stare? It's enough to scare anyone!"

Flumpty thought about that for a moment. Birthday Boy Blam was just joking, right? But Blam was serious. He clearly knew who Luigi was.

"Just be careful around him, okay? He may be a plumber, but he can do a lot of things." said Blam.

Luigi continued to monitor everything that was going on. Camera 3 was still not working for some reason. The beaver was still on the toilet, but it had stopped reading the newspaper and was looking directly at the camera. Luigi also noticed that half the roll of toilet paper was used up. Meanwhile Flumpty and Blam kept moving around trying to breach the office, and Luigi had to operate the doors accordingly.

Then Luigi noticed something new in the office. There was now a hole in the wall in front of him, and a clown was in there, ready to crawl out. Luigi didn't know what that was about. Then when Luigi checked Camera 5, he noticed there were less eyes peeking out of the hole in the floor than there was before. Luigi counted 21, but he was sure there was a few more. When Luigi checked the doors again, he saw that the clown was starting to crawl out of the hole. Luigi immediately figured out that the clown gets closer when he's not watching it.

It was after 4 AM now. When Luigi checked Camera 5 again, he saw 18 eyes now.

"The eyes must be related to the clown's progress" he thought. Luigi also checked Camera 3 to see if it was working, and it was. This camera showed a cave with lava, not unlike the ones Luigi's seen before in his past adventures with Mario. Then Luigi noticed the red static had moved to a different camera. Specifically the left hallway. Luigi immediately checked the left door and was greeted with a red skeletal-like creature about to come in. Luigi shut the door, and when he turned around he saw what looked like Flumpty, but now he was a yellow demon egg that was cracked.

"AAAHHH! DON'T HURT ME!!" Luigi yelled as he cowered in fear, facing away from this Demon Flumpty. After a few seconds, Luigi looked up and saw that it had vanished. Luigi sighed in relief, but then saw the clown was slowly crawling out of the hole. Luigi checked Camera 5 again, now there were 10 eyes.

It was almost 5 AM now. Luigi checked the bathroom and saw that the beaver was gone. The toilet paper was all used up, and there was a message on the toilet that said "I'VE RUN OUT". Luigi checked the right hallway and saw the beaver running towards the office. Luigi immediately shut the door, and noticed the clown was really close to breaching the room. Luigi checked Camera 5, and saw 5 eyes left. Luigi didn't know what to do. If he checked the cameras again, the clown would attack him for sure.

Then Luigi had an idea. He decided to use the Death Stare on the clown. Luigi kept staring angrily at the clown, right into his soul. The clown got scared, and was now nervously sweating in place. After a few seconds, the clown decided to back up and crawl back into the hole. Luigi was impressed. He did not expect that to work. He checked Camera 5 again and saw all the eyes were back, and there was a note on the floor that read "How did you do that?"

It was getting really close to 6 AM. Things were starting to get hectic. Luigi saw that the doors didn't have much power left. The beaver in the bathroom had a new roll of toilet paper, and was starting to use it all up. The red static was back in Camera 3, but moved into Camera 4.

Flumpty was approaching the office one last time, but Luigi was prepared and closed the left door. Flumpty was impressed. He did not expect Luigi to make it this far.

And then it happened. It was 6 AM now. Except it wasn't 6 AM. Luigi found that the time on the laptop was replaced with the word HAM. Luigi didn't know what that meant, but he didn't have much time to think about it as the doors opened automatically. Flumpty and the rest of his gang came in applauding Luigi's success.

"Congratulations, Luigi! You've won my game!" said Flumpty. Despite having been defeated in his own game, Flumpty was still quite proud of Luigi for winning.

Luigi was scared. He thought Flumpty and the others were going to attack, but they didn't.

"Now, now, no need to be afraid." reassured Flumpty. "We're just here to celebrate! Right guys?"

The others nodded in agreement. There was no point in attacking now. The night was over, or so it seemed.

"What's-a going on here?" asked Luigi.

"You're the first person ever to win my game! Out of 21 people, that is." said Flumpty. Luigi was really nervous about that last part.

"What happened to the other 20?" asked Luigi nervously.

"No worries, they're fine. I meshed them together into the Eyesaur!"

"The... what?"

"See for yourself!"

The laptop was still open, showing Camera 5. A huge, red, fleshy beast came out of the hole. It had 13 heads, and its tail was made up of hands. Luigi was shocked at the sight.

"They sure are something, aren't they? Imagine having THAT as your guard dog!" said Flumpty, and he laughed at his own statement. The others did not. Luigi saw too much. He laid down on the floor and started doing sit-ups while saying "Flumpty's! Flumpty's! Flumpty's!"

The others just stood there and watched. Then, Flumpty took out a brick and dropped it on Luigi's head, which made him snap back into focus.

"Thank you." said Luigi.
