Work Text:

Yoongi should have known.

He had gotten up at his first alarm (insulting it with every possible swear word in his repertoire, but on the first try!), his coffee machine did not explode on a whim and he had remembered to plug in his phone before sleeping. Letti, his pet otter, hadn't even chewed on a cable or a table leg all night. She squealed happily while eating her food.

His morning was going too well, he should have known something was wrong.

Of course, at the time, he was enjoying his morning like a happy fool, until his phone rang. Intrigued, (because his friends were smart enough not to disturb him before noon) he leaned over the device only to spit out his coffee dramatically as he read the alert:

THE EX IS COMING BACK FOR HIS SHIT!

Yoongi blinked his eyes quickly before remembering that yes, Jun was coming back on that exact date to collect the stuff he had accumulated in Yoongi's apartment. Why come back after four months, Yoongi didn't know, but his ex had always had a knack for showing up at the worst times.

As Yoongi was a responsible and mature adult, he did the right thing: curl up in bed, his otter by his side, with the belief that if he ignored the world, nothing would happen. A technique that stands against all the unexpected.

He nibbled the skin on his thumb, imagining the possible scenarios. Yoongi wanted at all costs to show Jun that he had moved on from their relationship, without looking at him face to face. He was afraid of his own reaction if his ex ever came back to beg for mercy. Yoongi wrinkled his nose. No, that shouldn't even be considered, nuh-huh.

Letti crooned again as she squirmed on her knees, begging for his attention. Yoongi softens. He patted her belly and gave her some extra kibble, because if he could survive several hours without eating, he would never do that to his beloved otter. The slight plumpness of the said otter could testify.

“Hyuuuuung, I know you are there!”

His plan apparently had a flaw: his friend named Jimin. Letti treacherously yelped and ran for the door, scraping her little paws against the wooden door.

“Hyung, let me at least pet Letti, please!” Jimin pleaded.

The great love story between Letti and her friends was classic. Yoongi had rescued her from the animal shelter, and yet she stuck with her friends every time they came, believing she loved them more. (He knew it was a lie. Every time he let Letti sleep over at a friend's house, she quietly complained all night and screamed joyously when Yoongi finally returned)

Yoongi listened and sighed in relief. He could easily ignore Jimin as long as Seokjin wasn't there-

“Yoongi! Open that door!”

And shit.

"Yoongi-ah, locking yourself up like a gremlin won't make your problems go away"

Letti turned to look at Yoongi with her big round eyes. She knew exactly how to bend him.

“Ooooh, hyung, Seokjin-hyung said the infamous Yoongi-ah, if I were you, I would get up”

Cursing the heavens for giving him such persistent friends, Yoongi rolled off his bed to unlock the door before returning to bury himself under his sheets. The two parasites passed through the door frame excitedly a few seconds later. Jimin sat down on the floor and began petting Letti enthusiastically. Jin immediately opened the thick black curtains, scolding Yoongi. The man bristled when the sunbeams hit his face, but his friends ignored him completely.

“Yoongi, Yoongi, your face is a little flower, you need sunshine to survive!” Seokjin exclaimed, cupping his face in his hands.

Yoongi only responded with a complaint before going back under his sheets. Unfortunately, Seokjin didn't let this go and simply ripped the covers off the bed.

“Hyung!” yelled Yoongi as he curled up in a ball. He didn't really want his friends to notice that he had been wearing the same shirt for weeks. "You can't just reveal me like that! What if I had been naked?

Seokjin gave him a skeptical look.

“If you had been naked the day your ex came back, with your otter on top of that, I would have been very suspicious. And you'll do me the pleasure of taking off that damn t-shirt"

Jimin, who had apparently left the room in search of food for Letti (the fish head she was chewing loudly was a good clue) poked his head into the room at that exact moment.

“Hyung is right. It's Jun's shirt, isn't it?"

Yoongi looked down in dismay to realize that indeed the garment belonged to the reason for his ailments. He let out a scream before removing it as if the fabric was burning his skin.

Jimin rolled his eyes, and even the otter, curled up in his arms, looked discouraged.

“Hyung, you should join the drama club, your dramatic tendencies would steal everyone’s attention”

Yoongi glared at him, unsuccessfully.

“Get up, Yoongi, you need a plan of action now!” Seokjin exclaimed as he clapped his hands. Letti briefly barked once to let them hear her approval.

D-Day, 11 a.m., 8 hours before the event, Café Jin/credible

The emergency meeting began with a simple sentence:

“This is all totally ridiculous”

Seokjin, Jimin and Hoseok gasped dramatically.

“Hyung! I interrupted all my plans to help you and this is how you thank me?” Hoseok exclaimed.

Yoongi rolled his eyes and scratched the back of Letti's ears. Animals weren't normally allowed in Seokjin's cafe, but being a good friend of said owner (and thanks to Seokjin's weakness to Letti's cute face), Yoongi could bring her, provided she was in her harness.

"What plans are you talking about, Seok? Watching for the hundredth time The Devil Wears Prada doesn't count as plans… I can handle this situation on my own and I don't need this-” Yoongi says, waving his hand vaguely towards the table. "Secret Circle of Salem Witches"

Seokjin gasped exaggeratedly.

"I'm so kind to welcome your big rat into my coffee shop and in exchange you call me a witch ?" he exclaimed, gesticulating so much that the customers around looked at them.

Yoongi frowned as he covered Letti's little ears, busy sniffing the cake crumbs on the table.

“Letti is sensitive, hyung, and I forbid you to take out your frustration on her”

Seokjin sighed softly and then stretched to take the otter in his lap. Jimin shook his head as he put his coffee back on the table.

"No offense, hyung, you were literally ignoring your problems when we arrived, I wouldn't say that's the behavior of someone who knows what they're doing," he chuckled.

"I'm offended," grumbled Yoongi but no one listened.

“We have to think of a strategy, everyone,” Jimin says, clapping his hands.

Yoongi watched them stare thoughtfully into the void. He had a bit of gratitude towards his friends, who, despite their stupidity, did their best to help Yoongi.

"I know!" exclaimed Hoseok, snapping his fingers. “He comes, you kiss him, and there, just as he begs you to go back with him, bam! You throw him out of your house”

Yoongi wrinkled his nose. He kept an eye on Letti, because the last time she was on a table, the customer next to them had left without saying a word. Seokjin reassured him, but Yoongi didn't want to cause him any trouble. He just watched her jump into Jimin's lap.

"I don't want to kiss him, Seok. And you know how much I'm not the best in confrontation"

Everyone knew that Yoongi really meant I'll probably lock myself in my apartment again for weeks if I talk to him, because even though I don't love him anymore, seeing him fills me with horrible memories.

"You can just throw his stuff in his face and yell insults at him," Jimin said then with an evil glint in his eye. “Or go bust his car”

"O-kay," Yoongi said, picking up his otter again. “I'm not going to do any of these activities, and I'm starting to think you're a bad influence on Letti. It's because of you that she systematically nibbles all my chair legs"

Jimin widened his eyes and quickly became serious, as if Yoongi had told him that Namjoon was leaving for Japan (if Yoongi was ignoring his ex, then Jimin was totally pushing back on his attraction to Namjoon. Yoongi was absolutely tired of seeing them dancing around each other )

"You can't take Letti away from me, hyung, she won't survive if she just has to see your grumpy face all the time," he said quietly.

Yoongi raised an eyebrow.

“I have a strong feeling that you all love me just because I have a very adorable otter”

To his horror, his three friends nodded in perfect synchronization. Yoongi curled up and whispered against Letti's skull:

“You are the only one who really loves me in this world, Letti darling”

“But no, hyung, let’s see… We mostly keep you for the food you cook,” Jimin said, patting his head, a gesture that Yoongi hastened to dismiss.

“Let’s get back to business,” Jin said calmly after a sip of his tea, like the perfect picture of a Hollywood villain. “I agree with Jimin's plan. This asshole deserves to have his car destroyed."

If Yoongi's heart warmed when he saw his friend nod, he didn't show it.

"No, I don't want to show him that he matters to me, even if it's rage," Yoongi replied.

Jimin rolled his eyes dramatically.

"You want to show him that you don't care about him anymore without talking to him, hyung, why do something simple?"

Before Yoongi could protest, Hoseok turned to him with wild eyes.

“You should post an Instagram photo with your new boyfriend, hyung,” he said, almost buzzing in his chair. “Or even better, kiss him just as your ex arrives!”

“That’s so much better, Hoseok,” Yoongi replied sarcastically. “I just have to find myself a boyfriend in…. eight hours!"

Jimin waved his hands while Jin had an ominous smile.

“It’s an unnecessary detail, hyung. I think it's the perfect plan: you don't talk to him, you show him how much you don’t care anymore, and you might have a hookup!

Yoongi suddenly remembered why he spent most of his days in bed petting Letti.

D-Day, 2 p.m., 5 hours before the event, University, music production department

"Okay, hyung, what's going on?"

Yoongi jumped.

"Nothing, why?"

Namjoon turned to him, an eyebrow raised.

“You have been listening to the same loop for ages, you check the time every two minutes and you just forgot to record Kook”

Yoongi looked down at his screen to see that, indeed, the small diode was not on. He swore under his breath as Namjoon shook his head.

“Kook?” he said to the youngest, pressing the button connecting the studio to the recording room. “We are going to take a break”

A few seconds later, the young singer entered the room and sat down on the small sofa with a bottle of water.

"What's going on?" he asked after a sip. “The last time Namjoon-hyung asked for a break was because the kitchen was on fire”

Namjoon glanced at Yoongi as he crossed his arms.

“It’s Yoongi to ask, Jungkook”

Yoongi threw his head back while cursing Namjoon. They were by far the people who hated Jun the most. In fact, he didn't tell either Namjoon or Jungkook because their hatred for his ex was huge. The other three could hide their aggression towards Jun well, but he knew that Namjoon and Jungkook would go guard the door of his apartment waiting for the right moment to pounce on the enemy.

“Jun called me a week ago…He left a message, and he’s basically going to drop by today to pick up his stuff,” Yoongi said softly as he twisted his sweater sleeve.

Immediately, he saw Jungkook's jaw tense and Namjoon's gaze harden.

“Perfect,” grumbled Namjoon. "It's an opportunity to go and puncture his tires"

“I'm seriously starting to think you're spending too much time with Jimin,” Yoongi replied with a smirk. “I thought you were a pacifist”

Namjoon shrugged.

“And how do you feel about that, hyung?” Jungkook asked as he leaned forward.

Yoongi paused to think. His relationship with Jun wasn't perfect by far, but it was the longest-lasting one for both of them. A few weeks after Jun left, Yoongi thought he had made a huge mistake. Jun was probably the only person who supported him for so long, and Yoongi let him escape. The fear of having made a bad decision had paralyzed him. Over time, Yoongi had rediscovered some things he couldn't do when Jun was around, wearing certain clothes without receiving judgmental looks or eating junk food without being reminded of the extra pounds that came with it.

"I think I'm scared of my reaction," Yoongi said quietly, playing with his bracelets. "I'm afraid that my old insecurities will come back and make me do stupid things"

A hand on his wrist made him look up. Namjoon looked at him seriously, like every time he was going to reveal a philosophical thought.

“You don't give yourself enough credit, hyung. Within a few months, you realized how toxic your relationship with Jun was and it was a good idea to kick him out. You are a strong person, Yoongi. I'm sure you can show him how much he has no power over you anymore," he said with a slight smile.

"I don't know, I always felt like I was reacting too much...", Yoongi muttered.

Jungkook shook his head vigorously.

“I found you having a panic attack because the meal wasn’t ready in time for Jun, hyung. He might not hit you, but he was horrible. And you know it"

Yoongi knew the younger one was right. Towards the end of their relationship, Jun had such a nasty behavior that Yoongi couldn't stand it. He told himself that it would pass, but unfortunately, Yoongi had to close the door in his face for the mistreatment to stop. He had done the right thing. His insecurities could fuck off!

Coming out of the studio after a joint decision to resume the session on another day, Yoongi shared Hoseok's plan with them, and Jungkook immediately offered him several contacts.

"And they all have my stamp of approval, if you know what I mean," the younger man said, wiggling his eyebrows.

Yoongi was happy to ask Namjoon to hit him (Maybe he couldn't reach Jungkook's head as easily anymore, but he had a tall friend who did it very well).

D-Day, 5 p.m., 2 hours before the event, at Yoongi’s apartment building

Yoongi opened the glass door to his apartment, relieved to finally be in an air-conditioned space. His watch was screaming at him to find a way to deal with his ex. He had to get into bed, pet Letti, and think. Or lock the door and throw Jun’s damn things out the window.

Deep in thought, he only saw the cardboard box lying around the hall too late. His feet abruptly met the material, throwing his center of gravity completely out of balance. With a yelp, Yoongi moved his arms in hopes of avoiding an embarrassing fall. He caught himself just in time on the granite counter of the receptionist (who, by the way, was never there. Where was she when Yoongi's floor had been completely flooded due to a broken pipe? Nowhere. That said, as soon as a possibly embarrassing scene happened, there she was. Yoongi expected to see her appear any minute now) He stood up, inhaling slowly to calm his racing heart, glad that no one saw him stumble. Head up, he continued on his way to the elevators.

He hadn't taken two steps when someone came down the stairs. Yoongi glanced over, knowing full well that no one in the building used the stairs except for the old man who came to pick up his newspaper wearing only his boxers despite living on the 19th floor (He was also the cause of the absence of living beings in the stairwell)

That look was a fatal mistake, as Yoongi set his eyes on possibly the most gorgeous person in the entire Earth.

He was a young man, around Yoongi's age, a few inches taller. His dyed chestnut hair was held back by a red bandana, exposing his defined eyebrows and brown eyes. Yoongi noted with tenderness that his right eye had double eyelids unlike his left eye. His full lips and jawline, however, gave him thoughts that were far from christian. The perfectly proportioned man stared back at him and smiled, with his mouth forming an absolutely adorable square. He wore a black t-shirt and beige pants, which, oddly, matched his bandana.

Yoongi was blinded by his beauty and tripped over the second box that was hiding behind the first one.

This time, luck was not with him, as Yoongi, still distracted, did not react and fell face first towards the ceramic floor. The handsome stranger rushed forward, but alas, Yoongi didn't live in a kdrama (although Bandana-Red seemed to be out of one), so his downfall was unequivocal. Gravity hugged Yoongi, and for once, he wouldn't have wanted her affection. His elbows met the ground as well as his knees. Yoongi accepted his fate, and so the first words he exchanged with the stranger were against the floor of his apartment building.

“Oh my god, is everything okay?” the young man immediately asked as he knelt down next to Yoongi.

No, no, no, Yoongi was going to stay in this position for eternity. Hopefully the ground would swallow him up and he wouldn't have to suffer complete humiliation. He just wanted to go home, pet his otter and ignore the world!

"Um, yes," he managed to answer, getting up on his knees. “My ego suffers the most, but that’s it”

The brunette giggled. Normally, Yoongi found people who giggled completely ridiculous, but his heart jumped when he heard the stranger laughing like that. Who was ridiculous now, Min Yoongi?

The man got to his feet.

“Kim Taehyung,” he said, extending his hand to Yoongi. "Sorry about this, I'm moving in today, and I preferred to put all my boxes inside rather than melting outside in the sun"

He concludes this sentence with another small laugh, and if Yoongi hadn't already been slumped on the ground, his knees would have given out. He accepted Taehyung's help. His hand was slightly larger than his, warm and soft, and oh my god he was holding Taehyung's hand and he wanted to keep it forever, maybe even intertwine his fingers with his-

Yoongi looked up sharply, realizing he was still staring at their hands. He wanted to scratch his neck in embarrassment, but forgot to unclench his fingers, raising their joined hands. He released his immediately, knowing that his pale complexion accentuated the

has redness in his cheeks. Taehyung didn't say anything, but there was obvious amusement deep in his eyes. First he was falling like a fool in front of this angel and now he was staring at his hands, yes, everything was really fine.

“I understood that you were new here,” Yoongi says despite the humiliation in his veins. "You're probably the only one who's been using the stairs for quite a while. Mr. Park of the 19th loves to walk through them in his underwear only”

Taehyung widened his eyes.

"Oh. Thanks for the warning, I'm going to use the elevators from now on," he replied with another smile that melted Yoongi.

“My name is Min Yoongi, by the way,” he whispered, and Taehyung’s smile widened.

A few seconds passed, in perfect silence, eyes fixed on the other. Normally, Yoongi didn't react well to prolonged stares, but it seemed that his hatred had momentarily vanished. They were so close that Yoongi could brush the bottom of his black shirt with his fingertips.

Yoongi finally cleared his throat, and Taehyung took a step back. Their cheeks had identical colors now.

"Uh, I'm going to continue my move, I live on the 15th floor, so, um... glad to have met you, Yoongi-ssi"

Yoongi raised an eyebrow.

“15th? Which door?"

Taehyung pursed his lips, deep in thought, and Yoongi couldn't understand how this man could look so gorgeous regardless of his facial expressions.

“20B,” he finally said.

Yoongi couldn't hold back the big smile that spread across his lips.

“I live at 20A! Welcome, neighbor,” he said.

Taehyung's smile stayed put but his eyes lost focus, as if he had gone into a trance. If Yoongi even dared to speculate, he'd say the young man was staring at his lips, but maybe that was the hormones talking.

Taehyung brightened, his fingers brushed Yoongi's, and from this close, Yoongi could actually appreciate the difference between their sizes, thinking that if they hugged, the musician might bury his face in the taller-

A bell rang loudly in the hall.

Immediately, the two young men stepped away, the moment shattered. Yoongi didn't have time to complain about the lack of closeness as he realized it was his phone ringing.

He cast a sheepish glance at Taehyung as he replied. No one called him in his day to day life, so he wondered what the hell was going on.

"Yes?"

“Hyung!” exclaimed Hoseok. "I don't know where you are, but I went to your apartment because I know Letti was alone all afternoon. She can't stop crying, hyung, she doesn't want to eat anything, not even the fish-"

Yoongi heard his otter screaming in the back. He frowned.

"Oh no, poor darling," he said, pressing a button on the elevator. "I'm downstairs, coming right over. Tell her I love her, okay?"

“Okay hyung- Say, you are never so affectionate towards me when I am sick. Do you have a preference?"

Yoongi laughs softly.

“Ah Hoseok, you know she is the only woman in my life”

He hung up, and turning to apologize to Taehyung, the door to the stairs slammed shut, leaving him totally alone. Yoongi jumped, one eyebrow raised. However, the elevator arrived and his otter needed him, so he paid no further attention. Anyway, he would soon meet his neighbor. The last thing he saw before the doors closed was the young receptionist's smirk.

D-Day, 30 minutes before the event, 6:30 p.m., at Yoongi’s home

Yoongi was going to go crazy.

He was pacing around his apartment, glancing frustratedly at the cardboard box marked JUN. Letti watched him, lying on the sofa, legs crossed in front of her. She cooed softly as he carved furrows in his floor from walking.

He frowned.

"Stop looking at me like that, okay," he said pointing at her. "You've never had a relationship, so you can't judge me"

The otter blinked.

"I know, I'm immature and blablabla- Stop staring at me!"

The animal sneezed and jumped off the armchair before disappearing into the bedroom. Yoongi sighed, letting his head fall forward. If even Letti found him ridiculous, then that was serious. He breathed slowly. He was, however, confident when Hoseok had left earlier. First, he had to make himself a cup of tea that his mother had bought him, then he would listen to a few minutes of an anime to relax. Yoongi shook himself, ready to take his mind off things.

Snuggled up in his favorite blanket, a steaming cup in his lap, his anime on the TV, Yoongi told himself to relax. He was going to show his asshole ex that he was fine, that he was balanced and that nothing had affected him. There, he was fine, he was fine, he was a responsible adult, he was fine-

A glance at the clock told him that no, all was not well, because Jun was arriving in about ten minutes.

With a desperate cry, he got up and started walking maniacally around his apartment. He only stopped when he saw Letti poking her head out of his bedroom, a frozen fish tail in her mouth. Yoongi frowned.

“Do you have a better idea, huh? Since you judge me so much”

He briefly wondered if talking to his otter was a sign of insanity, when suddenly, under her impassive gaze, he had an illumination.

“Hoseok, you better be sure of your plan,” he muttered.

Yoongi rushed out of his apartment, without even closing the door. Once face to face with the wooden 20B, he knocked three times. Then three more times. (And a few more times, just to be sure)

The door swung open, the hinges creaking. Taehyung appeared right after, frowning.

"I'm coming, I'm coming, what's so urgent-"

His face hardened at the sight of Yoongi, who was too busy salivating at the younger boy's beauty to notice. He had taken off his bandana, so his caramel locks fell perfectly over his face in shy curls-

"Yoongi-ssi?..."

Yoongi blinked several times to get out of his trance.

“Are you busy right now, Taehyung?” he asked, glancing anxiously at the clock down the hall.

Taehyung cocked his head to the side.

"Uh, I'm emptying a few boxes, but otherwise I'm free... Why?"

Yoongi only responded by grabbing his sleeve and dragging him to his own apartment. His neighbor could help him with his problem, and scare Jun away once and for all!

Unfortunately, his small body seemed no match for Taehyung's big frame, who watched him stretch his (new) sweater in confusion. Why wasn't he moving? Yoongi wondered briefly what was hiding behind this oversized long-sleeved sweater (Who wore this kind of sweater in the heat wave?...)

“Yoongi? What's going on, for heaven's sake?"

Yoongi turned around, slightly panicked.

"I need your help, Taehyung, hurry up, please!" he said (and no, he hadn't whined at him like a spoiled brat, thank you very much. The stress was taking over his body, okay?)

His neighbor looked frustrated, before changing to a contrite face. Taehyung sighed and closed his door behind him, much to the elder's joy. Yoongi pushed him into his apartment, ignoring his questions.

He had to act fast, because Jun was going to arrive any second. He was going to walk through the corridor to fall on the living room, where the two neighbors were waiting stupidly.

Yoongi quickly pushed the reason for all his ills towards the door (the poor box didn't do anything, but Yoongi must have a culprit), before turning back to Taehyung, who looked even more confused.

What was he supposed to do now?

Was he supposed to introduce Taehyung to Jun? No, no, they had no time to elaborate plausible lies. As soon as his ex asked questions, they would be cooked. If Yoongi jumped out the window, pretending he didn't live in that apartment anymore, would he survive? He wrinkled his nose as he imagined himself crashing down on the concrete below. Oh my, they should improvise. At least Yoongi wouldn't have to fake his attraction to the younger one, as it was extremely present. It was simple, he just had to say that Taehyung had moved in a few months ago, and that… No, no! Unless Yoongi claims to have had huge amnesia-

A firm hand on his bicep stopped him (when had he started walking like crazy again?)

“Yoongi, ignoring me won’t do any good,” Taehyung said, annoyed. "Tell me right now what I'm doing here, otherwise I'm going home"

The oldest could not answer in his despair. He didn't know what he was doing either. He had brought poor innocent Taehyung to his living room, dragged him into the disaster that was his life. He had to act like an adult, for once. Tell Taehyung the truth, let him go home, then face Jun.

Yoongi inhaled. The Immature Yoongi had to go away now.

At that precise moment, the handle of his apartment was turned, and the hated voice sounded:

“Yooooongi?~ The door was unlocked-”

Wide-eyed and liquid panic running through his veins again, Yoongi looked at Taehyung and muttered,

"Trust me"

Yoongi heard his ex's footsteps behind his back just before standing on his tiptoes and pressing his lips to Taehyung's. He felt the younger stiffen. Yoongi was aware that Jun's presence was getting closer, so he intertwined his hand with his neighbor's, making a silent plea. The brunette seemed to come out of his stillness, probably seeing Jun arriving in the hallway, and finally answered the kiss.

From then on, Yoongi vaguely perceived his ex gasping in shock, but was way too focused on the feel of Taehyung's tongue gently slipping between his lips. His neighbor's large hands rested possessively on his hips, bringing his body as close as possible. Yoongi's fingers twirled before settling on his defined shoulders. As soon as their tongues made contact, the older sighed in well-being as he slid his hands along Taehyung's back, which was equally solid and comforting. Perhaps he had moaned under this realization. He, who had dreamed of doing this action since he had met the brunette, could not understand how the reality was much better than his fantasies. Taehyung held him just tight enough, putting the perfect amount of force into the kiss to make Yoongi melt in his arms…

The door slammed behind them, and Taehyung pushed him away roughly.

Yoongi staggered, barely catching himself in his chair.

"What's your problem?" Yoongi said, frowning.

Taehyung seemed to be boiling with rage. He took a step towards the older one, pointing at him.

“I'll throw the question back to you!” he exclaimed. "I don't know what perverted game you're playing with your girlfriend...your lover...your mistress, but I refuse to be a part of it, you know?"

Yoongi was getting more and more confused. Yes, it was a bad idea to kiss Taehyung like that without context, but judging how he responded to the kiss, he had no right to yell at Yoongi. And then, where did this girlfriend thing come from?

“What are you talking about, Taehyung?” Yoongi said slowly, feeling the misunderstanding.

The brunette made a discouraged sound

“It doesn’t matter,” he grumbled, making a move to leave.

However, the older one did not let him escape like this. He planted himself firmly in front of his neighbor, noticing with sadness that tears glistened in his eyes.

“Taehyung? What's going on?" he whispered, trying to meet his gaze.

The neighbor sniffled.

“Stop pretending, Yoongi. I- When we ran into each other, I wanted to ask for your number, to ask you out on a date, but after your... Your girlfriend called and- And then you brought me here just so the other guy would see me kissing you...", he replied, lowering his head.

Clearly, Yoongi had missed an episode. His (non-existent) girlfriend had called him?... Suddenly his eyes widened.

“Oh, Taehyung,” he sighed with a small smile. "Don't move, okay? I'll be back and I promise you everything will be alright"

The brunette didn't answer anything, but didn't move, so Yoongi took that as a yes. He sneaked up to his room, catching the cause of this conversation.

“Taehyung?”

The man still refused to raise his eyes.

“I present to you Letti, the only woman in my life”

Yoongi watched Taehyung's sad expression turn to surprise at the sight of the otter in his hands.

“I don’t have a girlfriend,” Yoongi continued, scratching his otter’s belly. "But I rescued this little demon from a shelter a few years ago...I only wanted a kitten, but I guess I fell in love with this big rat," he finished with a laugh.

Taehyung said nothing, now awed with admiration. He reached out, gently petting Letti's fur, and Letti yelped briefly.

“So, um,” the brunette finally said, clearing his throat. "No girlfriend?"

Yoongi shook his head.

"And this guy?"

“My ex,” Yoongi replied, feeling himself blush. “I wanted to show him that I was over him, so, um… My friend had offered to find me a new lover in the meantime, and I had laughed at him but- But seeing you, I thought to myself, why not? I already feel like jumping on you, so might as well kill two birds with one stone- And I know that was unfair to you and I apologize for that."

Yoongi bowed apologetically, being afraid of his reaction. He suddenly felt a finger land under his chin and raise his head. He faced Taehyung's amber eyes, swallowing hard.

“Despite this disastrous adventure,” Taehyung said with a deep timbre that made Yoongi vibrate. "It's a reciprocal envy, Yoongi"

The interested party could only blink, hypnotized by the beauty of the brunette.

“I'll pick you up tomorrow night, hyung,” he whispered.

Taehyung placed a kiss on the corner of the older man's mouth, before disappearing, leaving Yoongi, alone with his otter, completely stunned.

T-Day, three weeks after the event, 10:00 p.m.

“Hyung has a love life thanks to me!” cried Hoseok, raising his glass under the blinding lights of the bar.

Yoongi rolled his eyes as Taehyung laughed softly.

“You just came up with a lame idea, it’s only because of my charm that Taehyung is in a relationship with me, you see,” Yoongi replied with a smirk.

Hoseok choked on his drink. While the rapper was indignantly ranting, a hand slowly slipped on Yoongi's buttocks. He raised an eyebrow at his boyfriend, who smiled carnivorously, whispering close to his ear:

“You have certain charms, that’s for sure~”

Yoongi blushed but did nothing to remove his hand.

After the horrible day with Jun, Yoongi and Taehyung went on several dates together, confirming that their compatibility was real. Yoongi had wondered many times if he had jumped into this relationship too quickly, but the feeling of happiness and calm he felt with Taehyung was his only answer. The youngest was funny, charming and terribly sexy. Yoongi knew they were still in their honeymoon period, and yet he was not afraid of the future. For now, he was watching his love interact with his friends as if they had known each other forever.

“Can you stop groping Yoongi in front of everyone?” Jimin asked with a bored look.

Taehyung looked back at him, still ignoring Hoseok's intoxicated speech.

"Only if you stop pissing everyone off because you don't have the guts to ask Namjoon to be your boyfriend," he said, jerking his chin towards Namjoon who was chatting away with Seokjin and Jungkook.

Jimin got flustered and glared at Hoseok who had just choked (again) on his drink. The latter shrugged as he walked away from the table, probably towards the bar.

“Seriously, I've been your friend for a few days and I'm not able to hear you stutter anymore,” Taehyung continued, taking a sip from Yoongi's glass. "You don't have to be afraid, Minnie, Namjoon is looking at you like you've hung the stars in the sky"

The pair watched Jimin nod before walking over to the tall rapper. Shortly after, the two were on the dance floor, their cheeks flushed like two high schoolers. Yoongi chuckled when Namjoon accidentally stomped on Jimin's foot.

“Taehyung, you have created a monster,” he said, resting his head on his lover's shoulder. “They are going to be even more unbearable now”

Taehyung kissed his temple.

"It's all part of my plan, kitten," he replied with a smile. “The attention is on them, so we can sneak away”

Yoongi turned around.

“Oh, I like your plan, Taehyung-ah,” he whispered.

Even under the aggressive neon lights, the youngest was still so magnificent. He rubbed the tip of his nose against Yoongi's.

"We could go home, and celebrate our own way, mhm? Just you, me, Letti and an anime,” he replied.

“Would we just watch an anime?” Yoongi replied with a pout.

Taehyung laughed and kissed him quickly.

“As long as Letti is in the room, absolutely”

“We could go to your house, first,” Yoongi said as he pulled him closer again. “Seems to me your office hasn’t been blessed in our way yet, mhm? You just moved in, we don’t want to get bad vibes..."

Taehyun brightened up, understanding the implication.

“You never let me fuck you on your desk, though,” he replied, migrating his hands south.

Yoongi started scattering kisses on his throat.

“Mine is full of expensive equipment, but yours is big, solid and blissfully empty, Taehyung-ah,” he said in a hoarse whisper.

If they didn't run to their apartments, they were very close.

(Taehyung had wandering hands while waiting for their elevator, but the secretary's inquisitive gaze killed the mood)

(Taehyung's desk wasn't sturdy enough, but after all, a pile of old books was a great substitute for a missing leg. According to the owner of said desk, the sex was worth it)
