Summary
As a child reaches the age of 4 they will develop an elemental mark that will foretell them what type of pokemon they will bond with. Some people will develop two marks if their pokemon has two types. Although you can catch other wild pokemon, most people like to stick with their bonded pokemon. Once they have met their pokemon soulmate they will bond with each other allowing the child to use powers a "Quirk '' of said pokemon to help battle with each other either for villainy or for heroics.
Midoriya Izuku was always told they looked like an angel. Their matching viridian eyes and hair and their soft pale glowing skin. Not only that but they had the heart of an angel always visiting the elderly and giving to others not expecting anything back, but the most ethereal thing about him was his smile, no matter how depressed you were when one look at their smile could brighten your day forgetting the previous troubles dragging you down.
