Chapter Text
A pair of blue eyes, half-hidden by his fedora looks up at the purple sky. The world was falling apart right before his eyes yet no one was there to help him. Blocks around him float up towards the black hole yet his stance wasn't tense at all. His draconic bow glows orange in the midst of all the purple, with the mask on, he looks colder even if the mask looks cartoonish.
He pulls back the bow and shoots a glowing arrow, straight at the core and a white flash engulfs the whole area.
That was the legend that they told kids these days, how mayor Toast saved the entire world from a monster because he was the chosen one. Since then he always had the mask on, the Toast mask was suppose to look goofy to kids who gawks and smiles at him maybe so but to adults that mask strikes fear.
Everyone that were happy doing their things on the street immediately paused to look around.
It was rare enough to see a pink sheep walk through the streets, but the mayor? At first people might not recognise him but there was only one person with a mask here.
"Toast!" Everyone whipped their head around to see resident Valkyrae, a new person in town who no one knows about, just casually strolls up to him.
Should it bother them? No, they all eventually learn that the mayor is someone you cannot trifle with. She must have been recently saved by him and new to this town, poor girl.
"Rae... good afternoon, how's the offline house?" He asks in a neutral tone, not like the commanding, booming one many would expect.
"It's going great! Lily told me that you gave her a detective job!"
Lily... Lilypichu was a close childhood friend of Toast, anybody that messes with her can kiss their whitelist goodbye but if she is a close friend, means she must be hella powerful.
Everyone kept their distance either way.
"Yes... where is Sykkuno?" He asks, straight to the point, the onlookers wince, obviously he wasn't interested but Valkyrae was cheerful as usual.
"He's in the caves, he said that he was gathering materials for a fight?"
The onlookers decided to leave one by one by then. A fight meant collateral was bound to happen, they wouldn't want to be nearby when it happens.
"Yes," he simply says before leaving.
Some curious onlookers walk closer as the mayor walks away.
"Pst, Rae what fight are they preparing for?" Masayoshi aka John asks, another new townsfolk but far experienced than Rae, he was still daring unlike his other friends.
"Hm? Oh something about a boss in a different dimension, I wanted to follow them but I have a different boss to beat..." Rae sighs.
"What boss?" He asks.
"My mother-" Rae muses and pats his back, leaving him confused.
