Work Text:
They were on stage, hundreds of people staring up at them expectantly. Joel didn't really remember whose idea this had been but he kind of regretted agreeing to it by now.
Why did they have to make it public at all?
Couldn't they just continue the way it was, not saying anything about it at all?
In the end, he didn't find the courage, knowing he let down the others, well mainly Joonas.
He stumbled off of the stage, grabbing a beer can and downing half of it in one go.
The rest of the band joined him seconds later, Joonas coming to stand next to him.
“Listen, Joonas, I'm so sorry! I really wanted to tell them, really wanted to make this public so we wouldn't have to hide anymore. I'm sorry, I couldn't do it. I know we've planned this for weeks and now I've ruined it by chickening out. We could maybe do it tomorrow at the festival? I promise I'll try my best to just do it then. It's not that hard right? I can do that. It wouldn't change much of the plan, would it?” Joel babbled until Joonas interrupted him.
“Would you just shut up and kiss me already? Everything is fine, darling. Don't worry,” Joonas said softly, wrapping his arms around Joel's upper body.
Joel looked at him, irritated for a second, then took a relieved breath before he bent down to place his lips on Joonas' in a gentle kiss, flooded with emotions.
“Perfect. In case you still wanna come out as a couple we'd have the cutest picture ever to upload to Instagram.”
Joel grumbled in response to that but was pulled back into another soft yet passionate kiss before he had the chance to say anything.
Joel decided it didn't matter right now. He was holding Joonas in his arms, kissing the man he loved so much and if they wanted to share this they could do it any time.
“I love you so much.”
“I love you too, Joel.”
