You... couldn’t sleep.
No matter how much you tossed and turned, nor whatever you did to try and fall asleep... you just... could not sleep...
You needed to sleep, or else you were going to be tired. And if you were tired, you won’t be able to function properly for the day. And, since it’s Easter, there’s a lot planned for the day, so you need to sleep.
Needless to say, you were growing quite frustrated.
With a groan, you sat up in bed, rubbing at your eyes. All of your cats were downstairs with Dimentio and King Boo, doing... who knows what, and you were left alone to tend to yourself for the night. You didn’t know why you couldn’t sleep— perhaps it was excitement? Whatever it was, your poor little brain felt so incredibly frazzled, and you, you... you couldn’t even think straight! And you needed to think straight, because again, there’s a lot planned for the day, and and...
You whined, flopping back onto the pillow.
You would do anything for a couple minutes worth of rest. Anything— anything at all! Your head hurts, you’re tired, and you just... needed to sleep!
“...Close your veary eyes, little one,” a deep voice whispered into your ear.
You... slowly furrowed your brow in confusion, and quickly realized that the voice was trying to say the word weary... You sighed, thinking that it was just a hallucination from being so tired, but you did close your eyes like instructed. “Mkay, but if I don’t fall asleep soon, I’m gonna lose my marbles,” you murmured.
“Do not fret,” the voice said slowly, “You shall return to dream land soon... Count backvards from ten, and think of... bats.”
...You lightly huffed, but did as the voice asked yet again, counting backwards from ten inside of your head. You didn’t know why they— he? They have a male sounding voice, but while you didn’t know why they wanted you to think about bats, you thought about it anyways, conjuring up a mental image of a small fruit bat.
As you got to a lower number in your head, reaching closer and closer to zero, you... began to get increasingly sleepy, and you, and then you... and... and...
And, with that, you fell asleep.
