Work Text:
‘12:37 P.M.’ Tobio groaned as another minute spent on his phone brought him nothing but boredom.
The Adlers just finished the season, one of their best yet, and now the team is taking a week off from practices due to that. It’s not that Tobio isn’t grateful for this much needed break, but going from a routine of strenuous practice and intense games to sitting alone in his and Wakatoshi’s shared apartment with all this time to himself is never an easy shift.
With a sigh, Tobio shuts off his phone and softly tosses somewhere in the room. The window next to his bed is open, allowing a breeze to come through alone with the sunlight. ‘Perfect time for a nap.’ Tobio thinks to himself, already having closed his eyes.
_____
A bag of groceries in hand, Wakatoshi enters his home. He was out on a jog and thought it was a good idea to stop by the market. As he sets the groceries down on the counter, he checks his phone. ‘1:03 P.M.’ He was out for almost two hours but Tobio didn’t text him at all. ‘He must be tired.’ Wakatoshi thinks, pushing all worrisome thoughts out of his head before beginning to put the groceries in the fridge.
When he’s done, Wakatoshi makes his way upstairs to Tobio’s bedroom. Although they have been in a relationship for a few years already, they both prefer to have their own space and privacy, so they sleep in separate bedrooms. Approaching the door, he knocks. “Tobio?” Wakatoshi calls out, “Are you in there?” No response.
Wakatoshi opens Tobio’s bedroom door, his eyes immediately landing on the sleeping figure of his partner. A fond smile finds a way to his face. With as much self-discipline he has, Wakatoshi just can’t resist the urge to go over and press a kiss to Tobio’s forehead. He brushes Tobio’s bangs out of his face, leaving the room quietly.
A while later, Wakatoshi has already showered and gotten dressed in more comfortable clothes. He checks his phone once more, ‘2:16 P.M.’. He makes his way over to Tobio’s room once more, knocking on his door to alert his partner of his presence. “Tobio? Are you awake now?” No response yet again. Wakatoshi enters his room once more.
Still, Tobio is lying down, breathing slowly and evenly as he naps. This time, Wakatoshi closed the door behind him instead of leaving. Tobio is lying down on his back, arms up and hands resting underneath his head. Carefully, Wakatoshi sits in his lap, trying his best to not wake him up. Straddling him, Wakatoshi presses their chests together, wrapping his arms around Tobio as his face rests in the crook of Tobio’s neck. Sleep comes to him easily after that, his partner’s presence being the only thing he needs to fall asleep.
_____
When Tobio wakes up, he has no idea what time it is. He feels sweaty, hot, hazy, and suffocated. He doesn’t realize why until he realizes his 6’3, 200 pound, gymrat of a partner is lying down on top of him. Tobio loves Wakatoshi a lot, but right now he’s entirely too sweaty and delirious to have him pressing his full weight on top of him right now.
Even so, Tobio sports a soft smile as he tries shaking Wakatoshi awake. “Hey,” Tobio calls out, “baby, wake up.” After a few more seconds of repeating this process, Wakatoshi finally wakes up. He takes a few seconds to come to, yawing and rubbing his eyes.
“What do you need, Tobio?” Wakatoshi’s voice is incredibly deeper than usual, all gentle and laced with slight concern that makes Tobio’s heart flutter uncontrollably as his worrisome partner finally sits up.
“Well, ’Toshi, as much as I would love to feel you crush me, I felt like I was about to suffocate.” Wakatoshi blushed at the statement, letting out a raspy and short-lived giggle. Tobio sits up, placing his hands on Wakatoshi’s hips. His partner immediately gets the memo, wrapping his arms around Tobio’s neck for a deep kiss. They both enjoy these moments together, where nothing feels rushed, where nothing has to be held back.
The two lovers continue to kiss even after they feel it become more intense. Only when they end up with Wakatoshi lying down, pressed underneath Tobio’s body do they stop. Tobio pulls away first, pressing his forehead against Wakatoshi’s as they catch their breath. Wakatoshi is the first one to break their silence, “I brought home groceries earlier. I should probably cook dinner now.”
Tobio smiles, “Yeah, I’ll help you.” He peels his body away from Wakatoshi’s, helping his partner up. They leave Tobio’s bedroom hand in hand, happy and well-rested
