Work Text:
The day Boscha got expelled from school Luz Noceda was in and out of the principals office, as well as several different guidance councilors offices. Namely her own, and her girlfriends.
Amity had been in the hospital for about four days now, and Luz had thought it over hard. If she didn’t do anything Amity would return to school and most likely end up in the same place she was before. Luz couldn’t - wouldn’t - risk that.
So, she put on her big girl pants and talked to her guidance counselor. And then Amity’s, and finally she ended up in Bumps office.
“Luz, thank you so much for your patience and cooperation. The evidence you have provided us with is more than enough to deal with the situation, and I can assure you that Boscha will be punished severely for what she did.”
”Amity won’t have any classes with her after this, right?” Luz nervously asked. She resisted the urge to stand up and pace - though her anxiety hated her for that.
“Not at all,” Principal Bump replied. “In fact, I don’t believe Amity will even see her in the halls.”
”Wait-“ Luz gasped.
”I can’t tell you more than this,” Principal Bump said. “Not until it is official. Now, I believe it is best that you return to class.”
And that, Luz did.
“I can’t believe Boscha got expelled,” Edric said. “And I heard she’s being sent to boarding school. She won’t have her phone for a longgg time.”
”Yeah,” Luz breathed out. “Do we tell Amity?”
”I think you should,” Emira said. “At least, if she seems like she can handle it.”
”Me?” Luz raised an eyebrow. “Am I even allowed to see her?”
”You’re the only one she wants to see right now.” Edric shrugged.
“We have been telling you that-“ Emira added.
“You have?” Luz gasped. “I haven’t really been on my phone.”
”It’s okay,” Emira reassured Luz. “Why don’t you visit her today? Hours are between five and eight.”
”I’ll be there as soon as I can.”
Amity seemed so small in the oversized sweatshirt Luz had given to Edric for Amity to have while in the hospital. She seemed nervous, scared even. But, Luz could tell she looked much better than she had in the hospital. Luz watched as Amity walked over to her, and she patiently waited for the smaller girl to say something first.
“I didn’t know if you would come,” Amity whispered. “I was scared you wouldn’t want to see me…”
“I’ve just been…distracted by something,” Luz said. “But, I came as soon as I could.”
”I missed you.” Amity looked into her girlfriends eyes.
“Can I hug you?” Luz asked.
“I-“ Amity looked into her lap. “Please.”
And, with that Luz hugged her girlfriend tight. She feels Amity relax, and when she lets go, Amity doesn’t tense up completely again.
“Amity, I want to tell you something. But, you have to let me know where you are mentally before I do. I don’t want to set you back.”
Amity is silent for a moment. “It’s hard. Recovery. Sometimes I feel like i’ve been stabbed repeatedly in the heart, others I’m just completely numb. But, you can tell me what’s on your mind - it’ll be better if you do so while I’m here. I can’t do anything to harm myself while I’m here - but I can while i’m out in the real world.”
”Good point,” Luz says. “I did a thing. Boscha - she got expelled. Sent to a boarding school.”
“Does this have anything to do with what she did to me?” Amity asks.
“Maybe.”
Amity is quiet for a moment. Luz feels her girlfriend curl up against her, and she wraps an arm around Amity. The two girls meet eyes.
“Thank you,” Amity says, her voice a whisper.
“I love you so much,” Luz says. “And I couldn’t let Boscha-“
”I know,” Amity says. “And, I love you too.”
Amity Blight is going to get better, Luz Noceda will make sure of that. She’ll make sure Amity goes to each and every one of her therapy sessions.
Shell make sure she knows shes loved. That’s she always has someone to talk to if needed.
Amity finally realizes that she doesnt have to be a perfect student to be loved. To be good enough. All she has to be is herself.
