Work Text:
“You didn’t tell me!”
Katsuki lifted his head from the textbook, removing one of his earphones and looking at the person who just barged into his room, unannounced.
“What?”
“You didn’t tell me!”
He thought about it, then slowly said: “If this is about your lucky pick, it was Kirishima’s fault and…”
“This is not about my lucky pick! This is about your birthday!”
“My birthday?” He was confused. What about his birthday?
“You didn’t tell me it’s today !”
Oh, right.
“I don’t see the big deal…”
“You didn’t think I might have wanted to give you a present or something?”
“Uh, not really.”
“Gh, what’s wrong with you?” Kyoka facepalmed.
He really didn’t know what to say, something new for him, so he just stayed silent, looking at her.
She angrily walked to him and turned his chair to lock eyes with him.
“You’re an idiot.” She stated, before planting a kiss on his forehead. “Happy birthday.”
“Uh, thanks?”
She laughed, gently playing with his hair. “You’re welcome.”
She placed her hand on his cheek and caressed it, softly adding: “I also have an actual present.”
“You didn’t have to.”
“I knew you’d say so. Still, here.” She handed him a folded piece of paper.
He opened it and read through it, finally looking up at her: “Seriously?”
She nodded, smiling: “Seriously.”
He stood up and engulfed her in a tight hug. “Thank you.” He whispered.
Kyoka hugged him back and stood on her tiptoes to kiss him.
When they broke apart, she left her arms around his neck. “I’m still mad at you, though.”
“Because I didn’t tell you it’s my birthday?”
“Because you didn’t tell me it’s your birthday.”
He sighed, half smiling. “I told you it’s not a big deal.”
“To you. But to me, it is. You’re my boyfriend, remember?”
“It kinda slipped my mind.” He joked, earning both a laugh and a gentle slap on the back of his head.
“You’re lucky you’re cute.” She said, kissing him again on the cheek. She then untangled herself from the hug and gently pulled him by the wrist as she walked to the door.
“Where are we going?”
“How do you think I got to know it’s your birthday?”
He rolled his eyes: “Deku.”
She smiled: “And we have a winner!”
“Tell me they didn’t throw a party for me.”
“You’ll have fun.”
“I’m sorry, do you know me?”
“Idiot. And it’s not an actual party, as we had like zero time to set it up, thanks to you not letting us know when your birthday is.”
“I think I’ll blast Deku to pieces as soon as I see him, anyways.”
“I’m sure you will. Now shut up and enjoy your party.”
She pushed him into the common room, where he was greeted by his cheerful (and loud) classmates.
