It was a peaceful day in the Mushroom Kingdom. The Mario Bros were on their way to see Princess Peach, see how she was holding up after her recent kidnappings.
But as soon as the two twins exited Toad Town, the ground began shaking.
"E-eh?! Earthquake?!" The brother in green, Luigi, shouted as he held onto his hat.
"Possibly… c'mon Luigi! Let's go help some of the Toads!" The brother in red Mario, shouted, rushing back to the town.
"M-mario! Wait for me please!" Luigi shouted, following his twin, until he stopped in his tracks. There was soft white sparkles in the air and Mario… Mario was gone?
"Mario?! Where did you go?! I-I told you to wait for me!" Luigi cupped his hands to his mouth, shouting out for his brother. The ground below him started cracking and collapsing. And Luigi collapsed as well, falling inside a giant hole below him. He held onto his hat and screamed, closing his eyes out of fear.
When Luigi finally opened his eyes again, he was lying on… train tracks?
He swiftly got onto his knees and started checking himself. Good, no major wounds. Just some small cuts here and there. Luigi sighed as he stood up and looked around at his surroundings.
He was seemingly in a cave (no… a tunnel) with train tracks in it. Was he in a underground train station? No… that would be impossible! He was just at Toad Town! He must be dreaming! Yeah, that must be it!
He was so caught up in his own thoughts he didn't even hear loud footsteps approaching him. It wasn't until he was snapped back to reality as two hands tightly gripped his shoulders. Luigi let out a frightened yelp as the two hands moved him around.
In front of him was a man, about as tall as him, who had a white hat and a long white coat. Most importantly, he had a wide smile on his face. "What are you doing down here? The tracks are verrrrrrrry dangerous! You are lucky the station is closed today!" The man said, grabbing Luigi's hand and leading him down the tracks.
"Wait… if the station is-a closed, then why are you here?" Luigo said to the man. "WELL! I am Emmet, I am a Subway Boss, along with my twin brother, Ingo. We run the station, but Ingo has been gone for a verrrrrrry long time." The man (who was named Emmet, Luigi guessed) said. "You… have a twin brother? S-same here! I have a twin brother named Mario!" Luigi said, smiling as Emmet stopped and turned back to face Luigi. "Well, I obviously don't see him. Maybe he's just your imagination." Emmet said, a hint of sorrow in his voice. "HUH?! M-Mario is very real! Me and him were in Toad Town when suddenly there was a earthquake! And before I knew it, he disappeared!" Luigi shouted as Emmet soon continued walking. "Ahh… just like how my brother disappeared. Also what is Toad Town?" Emmet said. Luigi froze. How did… how did this person not know what Toad Town is? "Y-you don't know? The most popular town in the Mushroom Kingdom?" Luigi asked. "Mushroom Kingdom? Hah! There are no kingdoms in Unova! Whatever this Toad Town place is, its not here in Nimbasa City! Now come on." Emmet said, laughing. "Unova…? Nimbasa City? Where exactly did I end up? And where is Mario?" Luigi mumbled under his breath.
