Notes:
UNDER CONSTRUCTION EDITS TO BE POSTED BY SUNDAY AUGUST 14 Thank you Jane Austen, and many thanks to everyone involved with The Lizzie Bennet Diaries! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KisuGP2lcPs I joined AO3 in December 2014. In all of that time, I have never posted a work. Many thanks to Dr. Anderson and Dr. York for a wonderful semester, and for the motivation to post this! Welcome to an examination of conflict that includes my love for higher education and for Pride and Prejudice & Related Fandoms!

In January 2022, I wrote a mini creative work based on the lyrics “When I got sort of sorts with a buddy of yours. I may have punched him, it’s a blur, sir. He handles the financials? You punched the bursar. Yes.” I felt inspired listening to the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Hamilton: An American Musical! As I was writing this short creative work my thoughts turned to my experiences of watching Hamilton live in-person and virtually on Disney+. I am so glad that I chose to write about these lyrics. If I hadn’t chosen these lyrics, I may have decided on a completely different path for this creative work. I had a wonderful time thinking about how these lyrics extend this small reference to higher education across a few different places of pop culture.

I felt compelled to write a creative work that incorporated issues in higher education with characters that appear across popular culture.
Just a few short months before I signed up for AO3, I fell in love with Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. As soon as I finished the book, I moved the 2005 movie to the top of my family’s Netflix queue. For an entire week, I came home from school and watched the movie. Eventually, I bought my own DVD copy, and I mailed the DVD back to Netflix. My love for Pride and Prejudice continued to grow, and eventually I found The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. When I began to think about how I could connect Pride and Prejudice to higher education and popular culture, I knew that these vlogs were the perfect format.

Welcome to the University of San Francisco, Downtown Campus!

Jane Austen, THANK YOU!
