Chapter Text
It has not been long since Kaeya got saved from the hands of the fatui, yet it seems as everything just happened yesterday.
Kaeya has been staying at dawn winery, being carefully watched by Diluc and if it’s not Diluc then any member of the staff, he barely has time for himself as if everyone is scared that he will disappear if nobody is seeing him, and Kaeya honestly agrees with that.
He wakes up sweating from nightmares, nightmares that feel so real that he thinks that he is dreaming of being at the winery, believing that he is still at that cold cave or even worse, in Snezhnaya, far away from his home. At least every time he wakes up from such nightmare there’s always Diluc at his side, soothing him until he falls asleep again.
And if he is not having nightmares then it’s the memories, too heavy now that he has his vision back, most of them hurts, because of how detailed they are, memories that will not come back.
Kaeya can clearly hear his biological father voice, knowing that he has failed him, but it hurts even more to feel the voice of his real father, Crepus Ragnvindr, so clearly as he may be there only to remember that he no longer is on this world. Kaeya never realized how much he missed his father, how he wishes for him to be there taking care of him.
Aside from that, nobody has come to visit, it seems that there’s some issues that keeps his coworkers pretty busy, even Diluc is caught on all of this as he almost leaves everyday and comes back to stick to him. No one wants to explain the situation to him, it may break what little peace he has, because after everything, Kaeya’s masks have broken beyond repair and he needs time to make them again, so that’s why he is on “medical leave”, far away from whatever is happening inside of the city’s walls.
Everyday Kaeya tries to convince others that he is perfectly fine as if his tears doesn’t fall every single day, as if he just haven’t stopped drinking because he is scared of forgetting or not being present, as if he doesn’t shiver of fear every time he tries to walk away from dawn winery feeling like he has all of the fatui eyes on him, waiting to take him away again.
Even if it’s really peaceful, Kaeya can’t truly feel at peace, because one day he will throw out once again and after all the paranoia it’s gone Diluc will keep his distance from Kaeya and leave him into the darkness.
“I know what you are thinking, and you’re wrong, master Kaeya” Kaeya comes back to reality at the sound of Adeline’s voice, currently Kaeya has his head on her lap because he missed Diluc presence so the next person who could comfort him was the head maid.
“We love you, a lot” Adelinde says, caressing Kaeya’s hair
“it’s that the reason why all of you refuse to say anything? What is going on? Why the knights became so busy?”
“Master Kaeya, I’m pretty sure you can figure out, after all is tied to your kidnapping”
Kaeya stands up from his place and walks towards his bedroom
“I’m very tired, so I will go to sleep now”
A moment of silence.
Kaeya hesitates to say something.
Kaeya says nothing. He can handle himself alone.
