Summary
Jim has recovered from the events with Khan - physically at least.
He embarks onto the next five years in deep-space, along with his friends. Hoping to navigate his 'new life' as best as he can. And because he has been given a second chance, he re-thinks many of his choices. Including just why he finds himself unable to stray too far from his first officer at any given moment.
Spock in turn is preoccupied by trying to make sense of advice his older self had given him, which is made exponentially harder as the first signs of pon farr make themselves known.
