the world could burn in hell (and I shall keep waiting for you)

Summary:

Anger, desperation, and yearning.

Three emotion that were so human, yet could induce inhuman ambition. Luca knew that very well, yet he couldn't stop and would never be.

All he wanted was Shu, his most beloved, the sole sun within his despair, to come back to his arm. Humanity's survival? Not his problem.

Notes:

I simply want deranged Luca ( + luxiem)

Work Text:

"Good morning Shu, do you want your breakfast now or later?"

Luca smiled brightly as he opened the curtain. The city's sight from the top tower mansion was incredible as expected; he would never get tired of it. It’s as if the world was spread around just for two of them.

But of course, if Shu said he wanted a change of scenery he would immediately search for another place.

It took a few seconds for him to realize that Shu hadn’t answered back. When Luca glanced at him, the sorcerer was sitting on the bed and stared blankly at his own lap.

I guess I shouldn’t raise my hope, huh? Luca sighed fondly and gestured to the maid in charge of handling their breakfast to enter. The man watched as the ordered maid bowed silently to him and to the person who was still silently sitting on the bed before setting their meal on a nearby table.

When the maid had done her work, she didn’t waste any single second to give them final court before excusing herself. Luca couldn’t help but smile to himself. His subordinate had trained their workers really well . At last, there wouldn’t be any bullet that had to be wasted just to remind ungrateful people who was in charge here .

Well. There was no need to reminisce about trivial things. What was important right now was his beloved who seemed adamant to give him silent treatment—not that he wasn’t used to it.

Even with the tempting smell of warm food filling the room, Shu still hadn’t budged from his solitude. It’s okay, he tought. He didn’t mind his silent treatment; Luca could just assume he wanted it later since the man just woke up from his slumber.

"I have ordered the maid to put our breakfast on the table. Doesn't it smell good?” There was no answer, as expected. Luca then continued, “You can eat it anytime you like, and just call me if you want to be fed." he chuckled at his own teasing. "Just kidding! But I really don't mind feeding you, though. It sounds pog."

The mafia man took a seat beside the sorcerer, put a hand on Shu's hip to scoot the smaller man closer. He kissed his temple lovingly, heart jumped in mirth as he could feel an extra weight on his shoulder.

Since Shu right now was not in the condition to go out as freely as before, Luca always made sure to describe every single thing that happened on his day. That way, Shu wouldn’t feel lonely or being left out.

He even took care of his position helping Vox dealing with demons and spirit! He might have little experience dealing with supernatural beings, but as people kept saying: when there’s a will, there’s a way.

"Last night I helped Vox exorcising another demon in the town. My body feels weirdly tingling whenever he tells me to use my chi or whatsoever! I wonder if it's a normal thing to happen."

"..."

"Oh, also, the sweet store that sells your favorite cake now has a new variant! It looks so good, I think you will like it too. I can buy it for you later!"

"..."

"Are you tired with the scenery? I know a place where you can see the woods and valleys. Iceland seems like a pretty nice option too, doesn't it? I have some villas there for us to live in!"

"..."

"If there's something you want, just tell me, alright?"

"Luca,"

The owner of said name immediately perked up and looked at the other man excited. It was a rare chance for him to call his name out of nowhere! There was an imaginary dog tail wagging behind, couldn't wait to hear what he would request so he could make it happen. "Yes, Shu?"

Give me your command and I shall make it come true, was left unsaid but the message clearly echoed through the room. I will destroy the world if that’s what you’re wishing for.

Slowly, Shu raised his hand and rested it on Luca's cheek. Luca waited with bated breath as Shu opened his mouth and said,

"Set me free."

It was a simple sentence consisting of three words. Yet, it was able to make Luca’s entire sense run cold.

Those three words were not random words being entwined randomly or a cry for help. It was a three words of reminder, three words of grounding the overambitious human to reality itself, from the corroded soul trapped in a meat doll.

That’s right. Shu Yamino had already died. What's left was simply fragments of his life essences in form of lingering touches; couldn’t do nothing except ask the living to set him free many, many times. His entire body had been tampered in magic, so that he couldn't die even if his “soul” was not even suitable to live within human's realm.

He wasn't supposed to stay alive. His body might be shaped to ensure he would stay alive even if there was no God's work in his entire being, but his soul was already fated to go back to heaven. What’s left was a cumulative of memories lingering in his personal objects, being tampered and shaped to imitate its owner in desperation.

It was unthinkable, even among the devil itself. But of course, it was a human's nature to defy the law itself just to cope with their own sin and losses.

The smile on Luca's face disappeared, morphed into a thin line void of emotion. He gently grabbed Shu's hand and held it with his two hands.

"You know I can't do that, Shu," he whispered, sadness thick within his voice.

Letting you go means I have to accept that you're already dead.

Luca didn't want to remember his sin. He didn't want to be reminded of his most grave mistake that had led to Shu suffering the harsh consequences. Right now, he was nothing but a meat doll who couldn’t even leave bed because of his fragility. The only magic lingered was not even his; it was Vox’s doing to ensure Shu wouldn’t die in his sleep anytime soon.

His gentle, most beloved, kindest Shu. All disappeared in one night without him having a chance to repay what he had done for him, for everyone. Since then, everyday was just pure suffering; every inch of the step he took, every breath he drew, and even the gentle blow of midnight wind—everything reminded him of his beloved.

Maybe it was a whisper from the devil itself. Or maybe the insanity had overtook his senses and mind. Or maybe, it was every reason he could think of mixed into one. All Luca knew for sure was at one moment, in the middle of despair, he realized:

There was hope to bring Shu alive. It was a world where hell and heaven exist. It was a world where humanity walked together with supernatural beings, whether they realized it or not. Even if the possibility was just one percent, Luca would do anything to make his Shu come back, alive and full of smiles like he always does.

It was a handful of work to convince everyone to join his deranged plan, but he knew that deep down they’re as lost as him. Luxiem wouldn’t be the same without Shu. They weren’t the same, and never will, without their beloved sorcerer grounded their sanity.

Even if it meant he had to take down heaven into ashes just to make his wish come true, he would do it. Luca didn't care if the world would burn because of his actions. For him, the world had been ended for ages since the death of his beloved.

"Don't you worry, Shu," Luca kissed his temple and rested his head on his shoulder. Shu's skin felt so cold yet so comforting. "I will find a way to help you come back alive. Us will."

Even if it meant heーand the rest of the gangーhad to go against the world, they would damn sure continue their gravest, most sinful mission.

I will bring you back, no matter what. That is my promise to you, even if I know you don't approve of it.

Even so, my devastation is greater, my love. The world isn't the same when you're gone. I don't care if my actionーour actionーwill destroy the entire humanity or even reset the dimension whatnot, what I care is bringing you back to us. To me.

That's why, let's laugh together once more in the future...

Notes:

there is so many ending possible from this trope and half of it wasn't pretty ehe
