Summary
For centuries he has maintained careful control over it, burying it beneath layers of discipline and Fae magic until even those who are around him frequently don’t notice its presence.
Now it spills into the air like a confession.
Omega.
His stomach twists violently, the feeling sharp.
Not here.
Not now.
Not among a battlefield filled with both Knights and Lightkeepers and–
He glances up before he can stop himself, and immediately regrets it.

Summary
"So this is some type of fae sickness, then?"
Varka shifts closer to the bed, and for a second, it looks like he's about to reach out again, to put his hand back on Flins' shoulder. Disappointingly, he doesn't.
Flins peers up at him. "Yes. It's not contagious, if that is your concern."
"What?" Varka sounds genuinely perplexed by this notion, taking a second to process it, but then he scoffs. "Of course not! Isn't it obvious? I'm concerned about you, Flins."

Summary
“I don’t need to know what you are,” Illuga says. “Just give me something. Something to cling to the next time you run headfirst into danger alone.”
Flins sees the ghosts behind those pleading eyes, the shadows he tries to bathe in light, to pretend his lantern could drown them out rather than push them further into the corners of his mind. And he knows the stories, knows the haunted past that Illuga doesn’t like to talk about, the reason Flins’ answer matters.
He settles on a simple, yet vague truth.
“I am… not so easily killed,” he admits.
“If you’re lying to me,” Illuga says. “I will summon you from the grave and kill you myself.”
