A Postive Tomorrow

Summary:

A man sits in a bar alone after a failure of a life so far and a hard time living up to the promise he made to someone. Soon though he is visited by a woman who soon gives him the offer of a lifetime as well as the thing he wanted more than just a job.

Notes:

So I should just say this idea has been on the back burner for a long time and legit I was just thinking randomly last night and thought ehh why not. This is shorter than a lot of my recent content but it's about a character who I wanted to see happy so that allowed me to power through. So umm enjoy this fic and hope I don't sound like an absolute madman for writing this weird idea into reality. Hopefully

Work Text:

Rain fell on the top of the Honeybee Bar as many patrons gathered in the bar, all for different reasons. Be it warmth from the cold, companionship with others or just a nice drink after a hard week of work. But one current Parton was here for the reason he had been for the last few weeks. Coated in rain still on his white jacket as he sipped his drink in sadness. Soon one of the bartenders came over to him.

“Mr. Bumbee San, how are you?” He questioned with a familiar tone in his voice as if he’d seen the man often which he had. “Huh oh hello Wataru San.” He says as sadness is evident in his voice. “I assume you’ve had a bad week again?” He says as the man sighs. “Yeah..” he said as the bartender nodded and walked away, giving him some space.

As he did so the sad man thought back to the week he’s had. Once again becoming a member of a company only to be fired as the company began to shut down smaller parts of its business in a hope to save themselves. Now he was on a job hunt once again. Only now with another fire on his resume he struggled harder to find a job at a company now reduced to working at a restaurant as a busybody just to make ends meet.

The man had had this happen to him so often now it was a joke at this point. How far had he fallen from where he once was. But the man sighed as even when he was at his best he was never given what he wanted. He learned that long ago as he saw his coworkers be destroyed left and right by those higher ups who would never give him or anyone respect.

Noir had he found companionship with anyone well except for Scorp San but he had long since passed. He thought as he sighed while taking a drink. All the man wanted was to make up to what he told Cure Dream during their final meeting. He wanted to turn over a new leaf and that he did but as for the other part of turning his life around he hadn’t accomplished that yet.

“Hello Miss, what would you like?” He heard Wataru speak as he turned to see a woman sitting a few seats next to him. She wore a black coat over a short low cut purple dress with cutouts on the sides, fishnet stockings, and stiletto heels as well as complimenting it with dark blue hair.

“Oh just some wine please.” She says as the man nods, pouring her a glass as he leaves her be, as the woman faces him. At first he was worried as whenever someone faced him it usually meant trouble but soon she morphed into a smile.

“Hello Bunbee San.” She spoke as the man was shocked that she knew his name. “How do you know my name? Who are you?” He questioned. “Well to answer your question I know thanks to some of my assistance. As for my own name you may call me Papple.” She says as the man was confused.

“Now that pleasantries are over I wished to talk to you about a business venture.” She says as the man was more confused. “Wait, please explain, I'm so confused. How do you know me?” He questions as she sighs. “Very well.” She says as she moves closer as the man gives her a confused look. “I know you mostly because we are similar to an extent. We both have been enemies of the Pretty Cures in the past.” She says as he is shocked she had encountered the Pretty Cures and knew of his involvement but growled as he guessed why she wanted him.

“Ooh then never mind leave me alone. I won’t help you destroy them or whatever you plan on. I’m a different man now.” He says as she chuckles a little. “You don’t have to be so defensive but given your history I suppose that’s fair. Being used and manipulated three times by different companies all within a few years of each other must take away your confidence. But fear not for I changed as well thanks to those girls.” She says as the man looks at her and sighs slightly before his eyes go wide.

“Wait, but how did you know I worked for three companies?” He questioned as she smirked. “Oh my dear you see I am from the future.” She says as he looks confused. “The future?” He says as even for a man who could morph into a bee man this sounded absurd. “Why yes it’s how I know about your past. You worked for Nightmare before it fell, then for Eternal before it fell. Then you worked for odd job after odd job before finding yourself in the care of Dr. Truam at Crusher. Who had you work on a time device and then you quit after realizing you fell for another evil corporation.“ She says as the man was shocked.

“Wow you have my whole life story memorized, you must be from the future.” He says in shock as the woman giggles. “Why yes yes I do. Which is why I wanted to ask if you’d be willing to join up with me.” She says as he is given a card by her. “The Positive Future Talent Agency?” He questions. “Yes, it is my new company I started recently. You see, like yourself I once worked for Crusher but due to seeing the light thanks to the Pretty Cures I realized I no longer wish to prevent the future but make it a happier one. To do so I wish to find young talent to take on and make their dreams come true.” She says.

“Well I’m flattered but I doubt I can be of any use. I’m not exactly talented.” He says as he humbly hands her back the card as she scoffs and forces the card back to him. “You honestly are too modest. You're not a talent yes but you can be a worker. See I have a few members from Crusher but I need more and with what I learned about your skills I think you can help. You're not afraid to do grunt work or get your hands dirty yet at the same time you're a caring and kind man. I learned that thanks to that history of you in Eternal.” She says.

“As such Bunbee San I ask, would you like to join our agency to help make a brighter future?” She questions. “I mean I can’t say no this is to increible but I have one question. Do you think the others on your team would be as accepting of me?” He questioned as she chuckled a little. “You really are funny as Hana San and others said.” She says as she continues before she clears her throat to stop laughing.

“Due to my experiences with companies I feel the new agenda that I wish to have with my agency is for all of us to be more than coworkers but also friends. My other two coworkers are annoying at times I will admit but they are also some of the closest people to me as they have felt the pain of being used but also the pure feeling of becoming something better. As such I feel a man such as yourself who also went through something like that who wishes to move forward with your life to a brighter future deserves a place with us. Kinda like that team Ruru San is apart of the Redemptives I believe it is called.” She says as the man couldn’t believe it as he smiled genuinely for the first time in a while.

Here he was offered what he wanted on a silver platter. Not only a job he could be proud of but of the idea of companionship in addition to that. It was a dream come true. He thought as he smiled at the women. “Then you got yourself a deal.” He says as he shakes her hand. “Good now that you're on board, let's go back to our studio to discuss matters further and get you acquainted with Daigan San and Charaleet San. They will be delighted to have another coworker.” She says as the man follows but before that.

“Here for both me and Papple San.” Bunbee says as he pays for his drink and her own to Wataru who nods, smiling at the man. As he leaves the bartender looks to his right to see out the window as the skies are now bright blue as the rain was gone and the sun was shining on a now lively and reinvigorated day just like a certain bee man was now with a bright future ahead of him and his new coworkers.

Notes:

Note I do make a reference to the Redemptives here and I have plans for an adult group manly of the generals who reformed but I wanted to include a little on that manly with Papple and her group kinda forming it but well get into that one later on. And yes the irony of having done two fics in a row of Yes 5 villains being redeemed is not lost on me but what can I say. I love Dark Dream and I loved Bunbee. Also just a note the bartender named Wataru is a reference to Bunbee's voice actor Takagi Wataru. So that's nice. Anyway hope you have an awesome day and enjoyed the fic!

Edit: I have now moved this fic to were it should be happening within my redemptive continuity sorry for the confusion.
