Trust me

Summary:

“Iguro”

“Iguro” For a split second he could have sworn he was looking at her but not looking at her at the same time. His heart skipped a beat as he stared into her green eyes, words not seeming to form or come out of his mouth.

--
A love that has happened not once but twice. Iguro's heart couldn't help but yearn for her even in a new life.

Work Text:

“Do you believe in reincarnation?”

“Hmm?”

“Come on, I just want to know if you believe in reincarnation”

“Do you?”

“Of course, I want to meet all of you guys in my next life! It wouldn’t be fun living in a world without you”

“Yeah…no life would be worth living if it didn’t have you in it..” He whispered the last part to himself while staring at the beauty in front of him.

Thinking back on their short yet meaningful conversation, Iguro held onto Mitsuri’s hand. They were both injured but he couldn’t feel any pain physically just mentally as he watched her stare up at the sky with what might have been the last of her energy. “P-Promise…me. We will meet again…” She whispered weakly. The tears streaming down her eyes and onto the grassy field below her and he weakly gulped. Did she really want to meet him again? He couldn’t even do one thing, protect her. Gasping as it got harder to breathe, Iguro let out a soft grunt. “We…will... I will w-wait forever for you…” Mitsuri’s soft sob came to an end as she took her last breath, the color from her eyes draining away while the warmth faded from her skin. He was aware that his time would shortly come but he couldn’t help but smile from underneath that mask of his, tears flooding his eyes as he thought of all the great memories that they shared together. “We will meet again, my love…”

Sitting down at a bench with nothing other than a steaming cup of hot chocolate in one hand and a croissant in the other, Igure blankly stared off at the sight in front of him. A girl with the strangest hairstyle he has ever seen but she made it beautiful, everything about her was just breathtaking . He knew of her existence for quite a while now, actually since the first day they had met. She was wandering around campus, lost and confused. He had just happened to be going to her first class when she stopped him to ask for directions. Her aura. She radiated something, something that he didn’t know was missing from his life but ever since that day he woke up with a purpose, a reason to go on with his day, and a goal to hopefully just watch her from afar.

His thoughts were cut short when he noticed that same specific girl walking toward him. The steaming cup of coffee that was snuggly in his hand was crushed and quickly disregard the moment the scorching hot liquid had made contact with his fingers, That incident alone caused Mitsuri to run over to his aid, her hands already thrashing through the pockets of her fluffy coat shortly before she pulled out a handkerchief and handed it to him. “Are you okay? That seemed like a pretty nasty spill” She wasn’t aware of how hot the content was but the look on her face made him feel…weird. “Yeah, just a spill..” He wiped off his hand and stayed quiet about the stinging as Misturi took a seat beside him. Her cheeks were flushed but he just assumed it was from the cold weather,

Iguro”

“Iguro” For a split second he could have sworn he was looking at her but not looking at her at the same time. His heart skipped a beat as he stared into her green eyes, words not seeming to form or come out of his mouth. “I-I just wanted to ask if you would like to hang out sometimes as a way to pay you back for helping me”

“....” Iguro was speechless, no words could properly explain how he felt at that very moment as he stared at her wide-eyed and dazed. His reaction itself made Mitsuri much more flustered as she nervously waited for his answer. “Y-Yes… I would like to..” Low and quiet, he finally mustered the strength to finally speak up, just with that Mitsuri stood up excitedly and grinned. “You know the small shop by the main street, meet me there Saturday at 1 pm!” The lively girl didn’t wait for his response before running away to her friend, Shinobu Kochou. He sighed at the event that had just happened before covering her face with his grey sweater. A date… I can’t wait.

“Iguro, do you want to have lunch with me? That is if you aren’t busy of course” Mitsuri was still in her hashira uniform as she approached him from behind. Their meeting had ended a while ago so Iguro wasn’t quite sure why she was still dressed and better yet still hanging around. “Lunch? Yes.” He uttered those two words and soon followed her to sit down for a quick lunch, the bi-colored female was already munching away at her food and he quietly watched and listened to her brief compliments. Just watching her made him feel contempt.

“Aren’t you going to eat?” Mitsuri asked, her cheeks filling with the chewed-up content. Iguro smiled softly and pulled down his face mask, it was something he had been slightly insecure about around her but he was slowly feeling better about his flaws. “You should pull your mask down more often” She stated, her green orbs staring into his heterochromia ones. It made his heart skip a beat but the monotone look on his face luckily hid that. “I should?”

“Mhmm! I always love seeing your face and your smile. It makes me happy knowing that you are happy!”

From that day, Iguro didn’t wear his mask around her. He was truly free to be him.
