Work Text:
Kinn’s consciousness abruptly returned and he choked on the mouthful of champagne. The last thing he remembered was getting shot and looking at the sky as the world slowly dimmed around him. He looked around and found himself at a party, he was wearing a white tuxedo and there was a champagne glass in his hand that he was drinking from just now.
“Anakinn.” Kinn turned his head to see a man in his fifties calling him, he furrowed his eyebrows nobody called him by his name except his father. Beside the old man, there was another man standing with his back towards Kinn, hearing the old man calling him the young man turned around and Kinn gasped inwardly. The young man’s face was absolutely his taste.
So walked toward them, with an eyebrow raised. “Anakinn, meet Porsche.” The old man told him. As Kinn’s eyes met with the boy’s hazel eyes suddenly everything became clear.
Before dying, Kinn was obsessed with an omegaverse novel called ‘Sixth Dimension’. The character Anakinn Theerapanyakul had the same nickname as him ‘Kinn’ is the protagonist. Kinn was the second son of the Theerapanyakul industries and the heir of the business, the most desired alpha of the country. When he turned sixteen, Kinn’s father Korn Theerapanyakul fixed his marriage with an omega of the same age.
Porsche Pachara Kittisawat, his mother, was taken in by Kinn’s grandfather at a very young age. After she married and left the house they lost contact, yet when she and her husband passed away in a car accident Korn decided to take care of them and ensure the safety of two omega children. In order to do that he matched Kinn and Porsche together.
Kinn stared at Porsche and extended his hand with a hint of a smile on his face. “Hello.” Porsche didn’t take his hand, instead gathered his hand on his chest to do a wai and Kinn winced internally. He recalled the first time Kinn met Porsche at this party he humiliated him in front of everyone, then at school, at every single public gathering. Not to mention this is where he would also meet the omega protagonist, Tawan and fall in love at first sight.
“You guys talk for a bit, I will make an announcement in an hour.” Korn said and walked away. Kinn stared at Porsche. The boy had a wheat complexion that made his hazel eyes darker, he had a fierce look and his whole body screamed rebellion. Kinn felt his heartbeat getting faster, this boy was really his type. Porsche didn’t look in his eyes as he fidgeted, trying to calm him down.
When Kinn read the novel in his past life, he cursed the original owner on every page. Rejecting Porsche was the worse thing he ever did. “Nervous?” He asked the other boy and was met with a reluctant headshake. If the timeline matches, it’s been hardly three months since Porsche’s parents have deceased, he was still mourning.
“Where is your brother?” Kinn asked again. Porsche’s eyes snapped up at him, not expecting anything like this to be asked. “He is with my uncle.” Porsche’s answer made Kinn’s eyes widen. Oh, that piece of shit man. “You should have brought him here, we have people to take care of him,” Kinn said without thinking and bit his tongue, in his previous life he was a rich young master who had nannies to take care of children in his house, he didn’t know if this Kinn had one or not.
Porsche didn’t answer his question. Kinn checked his wristwatch, there was half an hour to go from the announcement and according to the book, this was the exact time he would meet Tawan and fall in love at first sight. Frankly, Kinn never liked Tawan’s personality. He was too nice, too proper like white moonlight. It was boring and irritating to see the omega protagonist abiding by all the alpha protagonist’s words. He preferred Porsche anyway, he was flawed and angry and his character had too much potential to be just canon fodder.
“Kinn where is your father.” Kinn looked behind him to see a woman in her early forties smiling at him, he looked around trying to spot Korn but when he couldn’t he politely smiled and said, “He must have gone upstairs, please wait a moment,” With that, he stopped a steward and asked to call for him immediately. However, as he turned to smile at that woman his eyes widened.
This woman was not anyone but Tawan’s mother and right now Tawan and Porsche were standing side by side. Tawan’s light blue tuxedo with his milky white skin and innocent eyes was a stark contrast with Porsche who was wearing a sap green suit with a white undershirt and wheat skin tone. In the novel, this was the moment when Kinn realised how superior Tawan was compared to this boy and fell in love with him. Rejecting Porsche in front of everyone, thus humiliating him and Korn.
Kinn clicked his tongue, Tawan was looking very beautiful right now but in his eyes Porsche was dazzling. He straight walked towards them and gave them his most professional and polite smile, “Ma’am my father will be back just for the announcement please wait a bit till then.”
He excused himself and grabbed Porsche's hand. He really wanted to avoid this interaction but guess if he didn't take the initiative to create the butterfly effect it won't change. “What are you doing?” Porsche snatched his hand back as he glared at him.
In his previous life Kinn belonged to a generational mafia household, he was one year older than the original owner of the body but growing up he saw loads of crap till he was shot in a shootout. Books were his only solace, the characters were his only love. So having your favourite character as your fiance made him feel very happy, at the same time he was conscious of not making it difficult for Porsche.
One step at a time.
Kinn put his hands inside his pocket and was not surprised to find a packet of cigarettes and a lighter inside. The original Kinn was a smoker but changed his habit after getting with Tawan.
“Do you smoke?” He asked Porsche.
“Is this some weird tactic you are trying to humiliate me?” Porsche asked. He wasn't glaring anymore, just very calm. "No." Kinn gave him a straightforward answer, “I just want to know if you smoke or not so we can take one each on the balcony before my father comes down the engagement ring.”
While he was talking he noticed Korn coming down with a bodyguard on his toe. “And he is here.” He pointed at him.
Porsche was visibly stiffened. Kinn sighed, he wanted to reach out and comfort him but decided against it. He might get punched.
Korn came down the stairs and the lights dimmed, only a big spotlight fell on him making him the centre of attention.
“Good evening everyone.” The man said. “Today on the special occasion of my wife's birthday, I would like to make a special announcement. As you have known my oldest is not in the country right now and my youngest is still very young, so I have decided on my middle child Anakinn's prospect of marriage.”
The crowd started murmuring. All of them were curious about the omega that made its way to the Theerapanyakul household.
“He is the son of the woman that I grew up with, my beloved sister who loved my family as much as my blood-related ones.” Korn wiped the tears that dripped down his cheeks, “I couldn't even be there when she left us. I think nobody but her child can be the perfect match for my son.”
“Aaand our cue.” Kinn turned to Porsche and offered his hand. Porsche stared at his hand before frowning at him, “Are you stupid?” He asked, “Stupid?” Kinn raised an eyebrow. “Just hold my hand.” He said, not wanting to do anything Porsche didn't want to.
In the end, Porsche gave up and gave him his hand, which he held tightly. They walked on the stage, Kinn smiling fully and Porsche having the ghost of a smile on his face. The crowd clapped, Kinn saw Tawan clapping too, his eyes trained on Porsche. Wow, the gaze was too uncomfortable so he shielded the other boy in the lieu of putting the ring on his finger.
Porsche had no idea why the hell this man was behaving like this after he heard Kinn Anakinn flat out rejected the engagement. Now he stared at him like a lovestruck man for no reason. However, the engagement was over and his fate was sealed.
This was a sacrifice, a sacrifice to save his brother's future. He would do it again and again if possible. He didn't ask for a happy sappy life, he wouldn't mind if Kinn had other people but as long as Porschay got his tuition paid every month he had no intention of stopping Kinn.
He looked at the ring on his ring finger and sighed, trying to gather his thoughts when he heard a voice. “Hello.”
The balcony was empty, he had escaped here to avoid any hollow congratulations.
The person who approached him was the beautiful omega from the other time. He was wearing a light blue tuxedo and had elegance in every step. Porsche was nothing in front of such high-class omega. He was surprised why Kinn didn't fall in love at first sight with him.
“Taking a breather?” He asked. Porsche nodded. “Call me Tawan.” The omega extended his hand, but Porsche again did wai .
“May I see your ring?” The man asked abruptly. “What?” He asked.
“May I see your ring?” Tawan said again.
Wanting to look at engagement rings was normal but Tawan seemed someone Porsche didn't want to be associated with. So he hesitated, searching for a good excuse when another figure entered the balcony.
"Porsche?" Kinn's voice was a few octaves lower. He walked over and handed Porsche a plate of food and a glass of water. “I thought you hadn't eaten anything so I…oh.” He turned as if he didn't notice Tawan's presence. “Ah sorry did I interrupt your conversation?” He asked.
Kinn didn't look much interested in Tawan, only sweeping a glance over at him and then fully giving his attention to Porsche and his food. “Let's eat together.” He said.
“Nothing.” Tawan walked away.
Porsche didn't have much of an appetite but he didn't refuse the food. “Do you know what this means?” Porsche asked him. Kinn hummed, “Yeah bound together for life.”
“I refuse to believe you are okay with being bound to a stranger.” He countered. “Well, everyone starts at being strangers don't they.”
Kinn wasn't really afraid of what was to come. The actual storyline doesn't start after they start university anyway, so he can just relax and let his relationship with Porsche become better and eliminate the occasional hiccups on the way. He listed down the incidents at school that were to come, to be honest, he didn't have any interest in world-building or stopping anything other than rectifying Kinn and protecting Porsche.
He could feel Porsche looking at him so he looked back with a smile.
The story has just begun.
