The trip to Seattle was awfully quiet
Max and Chloe didn’t say a single word as they drove away from Acadia bay.
Max’s head rested against the blue-haired girls shoulder , and Chloe wrapped an arm around the smaller girl. Max yawns , making Chloe look down at her.
“Max , if you want you can take a nap. We’ve been driving for a while and I know your tired.”
Max blinks her eyes and continues to stare at the road ahead of them.
“Max , I’m serious. Your exhausted. I’ll be okay driving with you asleep if that’s what your worried about”
“I can’t Chloe..” she says in small voice. “I can’t stop thinking about everyone in Arcadia..“
“it’s okay Max.. It’s not your fault, it was that giant fucking tornado’s fault“
“yeah” Max starts , she sounds like she’s about to cry again. “but I could have stopped it if I went back..” she sniffed “but you would be dead..“ Chloe sighs sadly.
“Stop. Stop it Max..“
Chloe pulls over her truck and gives Max a hug as she cried into her shirt. “shh Max.. , it’s okay..“
Chloe also let a few tears slip as she hugged Max. She didn’t like seeing her like this.
Chloe continues to hug Max and starts to give her tiny kisses on her head. She continues to whisper “it’s okay“ into Max’s ear.
Whenever ether one of them cried when they were kids , they would hug it out and let them cry , comforting each other , and here they were five years latter doing it again.
Eventually, Max finished crying and just laid in Chloe’s lap. She closed her eyes and fell asleep. Chloe began to drive again.
“There you go…” said Chloe softly. She wiped the tears on Max’s face off , and scooted over to give Max some space to lay down. Her head still resting on Chloe’s lap.
The girls continued to drive along the road.
Chloe placed a hand and the hipsters side and stroked her softy. She checked the time and saw it was 5:00 pm.
“Only a couple more hours till we stop“ she sighs. Placing a hand back on Max’s side
A loud grumbling noise sounded out in the car. Chloe looked around in confusion
“What the hell was that..?” She said
The noise came around again , this time Chloe felt something vibrate on her hand. She looked down at Max. She winces and let’s out a soft moan of discomfort. Chloe then realized that it was Max’s stomach growing. She was probably hungry.
Chloe chuckles, turns Max slightly on her back , and starts to rub her tummy. “Guessing your hungry?” She says to the still sleeping Max.
Max snores , making Chloe laugh. “I’m just gonna take that as a yes. I’m Hella hungry too“ said Chloe , her own stomach starting to growl.

She eventually found a place for them to eat. Chloe lightly shook Max awake. “Hey , Max. Max! Wake up!” Max slowly opens her eyes and groans , stretching.
“did we make it to Seattle yet..?“ she asked still half asleep.
“No not yet, you feeling better now?“ asked Chloe
“A little“ replied Max.
Chloe smiles and gives Max a hug and kiss on the head.
“Now common , lets go eat , because we’re hungry“
Max looks at Chloe in brief confusion. She didn’t feel hungry after what happened.
“never told you that I was hungry Chloe..” said Max with on eyebrow raised
“No , but your stomach did” as if on cue , Max’s stomach rumbles loudly again. Max giggles and wraps an arm around her belly.
“oh , that makes sense“ Max said. Chloe laughs and pokes Max in the belly.
“comon Max , lets go eat before you starve!“
Max chuckles slightly “lead the way captain“
