The Adventure of Two Lifetimes

Summary:

A classic legend heard from land and sky. Many fragments of some tales are lost to all but a fair few. Each group of tales are believed to be about three versions of the same person.

Unaware that these three versions are all the same person in the same dimension.

Notes:

Here it is. The story built up since "Time Twisting Paths." As mentioned, this is based on a theory video by Canadian Guy Eh on how classic, Legend, and Skylander Spyro are all the same being with the concept of reincarnation. There will be more to it as you'll see.

There will be eight chapters. Mainly focusing on the classic trilogy, Enter the Dragonfly, A Hero's Tail, the Legends trilogy, and Skylander Academy. Many more characters have a role but it's mainly in the flashbacks.

The flashbacks are based on Lady Mayflower's stories "Legacy" and "Lore." The latter will have more creative liberties.

This takes place from June 30, 1999 to August 1999. Starting here, there will also be a 'story so far' for big stories to hopefully get new readers up to speed if they start with this one. Still, reading the previous stories are preferred.

Chapter 1: Igniting the Past

Chapter Text

The story so far:

Crash and Coco are two bandicoot children who have saved their world three times in the first three years of their lives. After their third, they gained knowledge of Proteus. A pocket dimension that leads to other planets and dimensions. One of these portals leads to Skylands. A place once discovered when Crash was accidentally summoned there during his first adventure where he met and befriended a dragon named Spyro. After being enrolled in the academy, he and his sister learned how to control special powers relating to aether.

After a special adventure that ended with only them and their mask Aku-Aku remembering, they experienced the Great Synchronization with their Skylander friends. After preventing the islands from falling apart from bad vibes, Spyro revealed a key he found telling him to bring his friends the following day. Using the key to supposedly meet someone who had been expecting him.

Gazing at the key in his paw, Spyro looked at the door in front of him. Didn't seem much as the door is the Academy's front gates. But apparently, if he put the key in the doorknob, the entrance would change.

"So you're saying that if you put that key in and turn it, it'll open a portal somewhere where there's someone who wants to see you?" Eruptor asked. "I don't know about this. What if it's a trap?"

The dragon turned around at his friends along with Eon and Kaossandra. The message said to bring them along too. While unsure, he wasn't one to say no. "That is what the message said. I'm weary myself but we could find answers on these powers. And if something does happen, we have enough strength to fight back."

Looking back at the door, Spyro put the key inside the doorknob and turned it. He expected a glow to happen but there wasn't one. Then he opened the door to see a pitch black hallway. That wasn't there before.

"Whoa" Crash stepped closer. He never saw anything like this. His curiosity made him run inside without warning.

"Child wait!" Aku-Aku floated after him.

The others were more nervous about going in. "I'm getting second thoughts" Pop Fizz started backing up. "And that's coming from me."

Blue lights then came on as Crash's voice could be heard. "It's okay! You gotta come see this!"

With his reassurance, Coco and Spyro entered with everyone else close behind. The door closed behind them when the last one entered. The air felt comfortable and the hallway was clearly lit with a soft blue glow. It then opened up to a giant room with bookshelves everywhere. Multiple floors, different rooms, and a giant hourglass in the center.

(The Eternal Night Celestial Caves: Calm)

"My word" Jet-Vac gazed at the amount of books. "This appears to be a library."

Eon picked some books himself and read the titles. "The Great Gem War, Equestria's Beginnings, Founding of the Mushroom Kingdom. I've never seen books like these in any library!"

As the others took in their surroundings, Cynder found Crash reading a book himself. "This is amazing" he exclaimed. "With all these books, it's like the entire history of the universe is here!"

"There is" an unfamiliar voice said. "And so much more."

Jumping in place, Coco turned to Aku-Aku. "Was that you?"

"No my dear" it said again. "That would be me."

The owner of the voice stepped forward into the light. Everyone was able to get a good look at him now. It was a blue dragon. A big one at that. He looked to be wearing a cape over his front legs with a blue crystal necklace in the center. He smiled warmly, "Welcome to the Multiverse Library. I am excited to finally share with you the knowledge contained in these halls. I am the Chronicler. But you may call me Ignitus."

Spyro and Cynder were quick to approach him. They rarely saw dragons like this. And they had never seen a big dragon who was kind and good-natured. Aside from that, they could both feel something familiar.

"Um, I'm Spyro" the male got out. "These are my friends. The two furry marsupials are Crash and Coco, the mask is their adoptive father Aku-Aku, the rest are Ste-"

"No need for introductions young dragon" Ignitus told him. "I already know. And I just want to say how wonderful it is to see you and Cynder again. Albeit in a new form."

Cynder got puzzled, "Again? This is our first time seeing you. And new form? What does that mean?"

"I will explain everything. Please, follow me." Ignitus started down a hallway as the group followed him. They could see more of the library with bookshelves reaching the ceiling and certain sections dedicated to one dimension. It took all of Crash's willpower to not run off and explore.

"So...where is this place?" Stealth Elf spoke up.

"Outside time and space in between the dimensions" Ignitus answered. "It was originally in your world but it has been moved here. As Chronicler, I chronicle what happens in each realm. The lives of people, the many triumphs and failures of an era, and more are added to the books of time. You are all written in the books as well, though many pages are still incomplete."

The room they entered looked like a viewing room. There were couches, bean bag chairs, a projector screen, a podium, and a strange contraption above it. "So our whole lives are recorded in these books?" Coco asked. "How does that work?"

Using telekinesis to lift up eight books, Ignitus answered. "As of this moment, the books are detailing what is going on. The words are added to these pages. The ones that are about your lives are called Soul Books. When you die, your books will be complete. Here. This one's yours."

A pinkish-purple book floated in her arms allowing her to read it. Sure enough, there were chapters detailing her adventures fighting Cortex with her brother. Something strange happened though as after the sleepover in February, a bunch of pages were blank. The words then continued at least fifty pages later. Due to the context, Coco could tell what was supposed to be present.

"Can I see?" Spyro looked over her shoulder as she did so. "Wow. This is kind of cool and unsettling that our whole lives are being recorded."

"Very true. But the knowledge gained helps to prevent mistakes from being repeated." The Chronicler lifted the book out of her hands when she was done. "Although I am aware of those who wish to use this place to their advantage, I figured it would be time to share this with you. After seeing your powers grow, you would need to know more to truly understand."

"So that's why you brought us here" Crash walked up to him. "To tell us about aether's history!"

The dragon just stared setting up the device. "That is part of it. But the main reason is to help Spyro and his friends rediscover their pasts. With what they went through, they should know the truth."

"Our pasts?" Spyro looked at the eight books collected and noticed they had a purple dragon on the covers. They kind of looked like him except with different appearances and amethyst eyes. "Why do these dragons look like me?"

"Because young dragon, they are you."

The Skylanders came up to see for themselves. Elphaba picking up one that had a kangaroo, penguin, yeti, and monkey on the cover with the dragon. She read some paragraphs and her eyes widened. "This says it happened over two thousand years ago. How could this be Spyro if he wasn't alive back then?"

Ignitus closed his eyes, "Have you ever noticed something off in your lives? How you seven managed to connect quickly or having dreams where you feel like they already happened?" He said this to the seven Skylanders present. They looked confused so he explained. "This is because you all have two previous lives."

There was silence, and then they burst out laughing. It lasted for a while until Cynder found the strength to talk. "We're sorry. It's just...reincarnation? Sounds rather far-fetched."

"Indeed" Eon added. "I have said that Spyro is special but that was due to his kind once being protectors of the Core of Light."

"I assure you I am telling the truth. It will take time but it will all make sense."

The Chronicler placed the first book on the podium. A scanner opened it and began going over the pages. That was when a projector began to start. "Everyone take a seat. This device can show you what happens in the book. Just don't sit too close to the screen."

Eon, Kaossandra, and Jet-Vac sat on a couch, Sprocket and Pop Fizz sat on chairs, Aku-Aku just floated, and the others sat on bean bag chairs. Something came on screen. It was a purple dragon surrounded by other dragon children. They were all listening to a grey dragon tell a story, the purple one looking like he was going to doze off any second.

Gnasty Gnorc is one nasty fella! He constantly drooled over our treasure, used magic for his own purposes, and just made things unpleasant. Eventually, the Dragon Elders banished him to the Junkyard before he could cause any real trouble the dragon explained. No one's seen Gnasty since. But there are those who claim he could show up any moment for revenge. LIKE RIGHT NOW!

He let out a loud roar making the children run off screaming in fear. All except the purple dragon who was still bored. He then spoke up, I ain't scared of any gnorcs! I can take Gnasty on anytime!

Spyro! Is that you I hear being arrogant in there? Another adult dragon came in, this one red and wearing a green vest.

Ignitus paused right there. "So this is your first life young dragon. Ten years old right now and already wanting adventure."

"Wait, that was me?" Spyro looked at what was claimed to be him.

"Looks like you were cocky even in another life" Jet-Vac teased.

"Hey, we don't know for sure that's me!"

Crash and Coco however were silent. They remembered looking at the crystals in between the dimensions and seeing that same dragon talking with a furry girl on getting talismans in Avalar. Crash had a feeling these two dragons are one and the same but even so, how was this possible?

"I understand this is confusing" Ignitus spoke up. "I wish I could just tell you everything but it would be better to show you." He pressed play as the scene continued. After the red dragon (named Delbin) scolded the older grey one (named Astor) on scaring the dragonlets, he went outside the cave to talk with the purple dragon.

Gnasty really doesn't have you scared does he?

I told you. He can bring it on! Nothing a little horn ramming and butt torching can't do!

Delbin had a fond smile as he pawed the ground making the supposed past Spyro try to pounce on it. Eventually pinning him on the ground. I know. I just don't want you to worry about that right now.

Past Spyro laughed, Alright alright. No gnorc hunting until I'm older.

That's my boy Delbin released him. Now come with me. There's something I want to show you. But it requires a test of skill.

Through this, Spyro noticed a gold glow close to his supposed past self. "What's that?"

"That is your dragonfly Sparx" Ignitus said. "During those times, dragonflies would watch over dragonlets to keep them safe from harm. They enjoy eating butterflies to keep their strength up. The two of you were close, even if it was mostly shown through playful teasing."

"So how come we don't have them?" Cynder asked.

He watched as the scene changed to a big green gnorc eating a large turkey leg. "After some time, dragons became strong enough to not need extra protection. They still remain close even if dragonflies are hard to find in Skylands."

Back to the screen, it was clear this was Gnasty Gnorc mentioned earlier. He was watching an interview on TV as Astor spoke. It's been peaceful here in the five worlds. Or is it...six? For a dragon's age. We now have twelve thousand treasure! Or is it fourteen thousand?

What about this Guh-Nasty Gun-Norc? the reporter asked. Now I understand he's found a magic spell to turn gems into warriors for his cause.

Gnasty gazed at a giant glowing staff. At least they acknowledge that they're not the only ones who can do magic. he said.

A blue dragon with clocks on his belt came in. I'll take that question. Gnasty Gnorc is a simple creature.

The gnorc stopped eating at that. Simple?!

He has been contained in a remote area and poses no threat to the Dragon Kingdom the blue dragon continued.

Uh, Lindar. What are you doing? a blue dragon with paint on his apron tugged his arm to get him to stop.

No threat?! Gnasty stood up, looking angrier.

Lindar seemed to not read the room as he kept going. Besides, he is ugly.

Ugly?!?! A look of sadness appeared on his face before changing to rage. THAT'S IT!! He grabbed his staff as it began to glow green. He raised it high shooting out green electric bolts. They hit the dragons, turning them to crystal.

Watching the sight, Coco was quick to point out what everyone else was thinking. "So all this because that blue dragon insulted Gnasty? Seems rather harsh."

"Well he did cause problems for the dragons before being banished" Cynder told her. Crash and Spyro however, could feel there was something more going on.

Ignitus caught their expressions. "There is indeed more than meets the eye. And it will come soon."

The scene changed to Spyro attempting to hop from stone to stone on a pool of water. He nearly completed it when green lightning shot from the sky making him lose balance. Whoa! What was... his eyes spotted green statues all over the area. There were also gems lying around and gnorcs running around. Curious, he ran up to the statue on a ledge.

Where did this come from? his dragonfly buzzed.

I don't know Spyro could only say as he placed his paw on it. The statue started to shake making him step back. There was a bright light and a green dragon holding a stone Mason's hammer dusted himself off. Nestor?

He noticed the child present. Thank you for releasing me Spyro.

Uh sure but what's going on? There was green lightning and now there's dragon statues all over the place he pointed out.

Gnasty's work Nestor took in the situation. Seems every dragon's been affected. Except you. I need to survey the Artisans homeland. If every other dragon's been affected, it's possible the other realms are in danger.

Current Spyro watched his supposed past self get excited. Aw yeah! An adventure! Gnasty won't know what hit-

Hold on Nestor placed a paw on him. This isn't a game. You haven't dealt with these situations yet. But this is an emergency and we need all the help we can get. Go to the four Artisan lands to free as many adult dragons as you can. When you do that, the balloonist will take you to Peacekeepers.

As Nestor flew off, Spyro felt himself get drawn closer to the screen. He could vaguely remember dreaming about this once. Looking for crystal statues and fighting green monsters. He inched closer to a yellow line on the ground which Crash noticed.

"Spyro you're getting getting too close to-"

He wasn't able to finish as once the dragon crossed the line, he suddenly stopped with a gasp. Crash was about to get up to see what was wrong when Ignitus stopped him. "It is alright. It might look concerning but there's nothing to worry about. He's gone inside the book."

"Inside?" Kaossandra finally spoke up. "What does that mean?"

"These books are special as when they are placed in this device, they act like tapes. Getting close enough to the screen will have your soul go inside them to experience what happened first hand. It can be dangerous if you go in your own Soul Book as the risk of self-serving memory takes affect making the recording glitch out and trapping you in static. But since this is about an adventure, it's safe."

Making sure not to look at the screen, Cynder got in front of Spyro to see his eyes were completely purple and his facial marks present. "So when the story's over, he'll come back?"

"That is right. Or whenever I pause it" Ignitus reassured her.

She sat back down next to Coco as they watched past Spyro enter Stone Hill to free Astor, Lindar, Gavin, and Gildas. All the while hoping her friend was doing alright with his soul inside.

***

"AAAHHH! What's going on?! Where am I?!"

Hyperventilating, Spyro tried to fly up but couldn't get farther than two feet in the air. He didn't know what happened. He got closer to the screen and all of a sudden he was in the middle of the Artisan homeland. There were brief moments of static and when they stopped, there was a new location. When he felt calm enough, Spyro looked around to see his supposed past self chase a thief around Town Square.

"Get back here!" he yelled as the thief taunted him. He ran three laps around the area when he finally roasted him. A dragon egg fell out and was picked up by a fairy.

"Thank you. I'll send this back to High Caves" she said.

As he watched, present Spyro inched closer to the purple dragon. He tried to touch him but when he did, there was static. Seemed contact wasn't a thing. The realization slowly came to him. "I...must be inside the book. Okay just...stay calm. You saw something like this before where people get sucked into video games. They got out by getting to the end. So if I get to the end of the story, I'll return to the real world."

The scene changed again to recording Spyro freeing a dragon named Nevin. "Gnasty Gnorc has sent one of his most devious henchmen to the Artisan world."

"Bring him on!" past Spyro was getting antsy. "I think I smell a barbecue!"

"Be careful Spyro. Toasty has many tricks up his sleeve" Nevin warned him before flying away. As he watched the fight, Spyro noticed there was a sheep in the pumpkin scarecrow. And if he was honest, the fight was rather pathetic.

"This is a devious henchman? Broccoli Guy put up a bigger fight!"

The sheepdogs were more of a challenge as they were very fast and managed to get some hits in. By the time Toasty was, well toast, Sparx's color was a sick green. All from dog attacks. The scene changed to the balloonist dock as some older Artisan dragons escorted past Spyro.

"I must say we're impressed" Oswin told him. "You rescued sixteen dragons and found all the treasure with little help!"

"What can I say?" past Spyro smiled. "I'm a fast learner."

Current Spyro couldn't help but roll his eyes. He could detect a hint of an ego in his tone of voice. "Was I really like that before Skylander Graduation Day?" He stopped at that. It was the same kind of ego. Seeing this felt more than familiar. Was it possible that...

The next scene was the Peacekeeper home world as gem crafted soldiers fired cannons. Spyro watched his supposed past self free Chief Titan, Magnus, and Gunnar in the main area before going into the other lands. Despite being a recording, Spyro could feel the sand under his feet, the roughness of rock, the cold chill of Icy Peak's air, and the dry air of Dry Canyon. He chalked it up to the technology but he began to feel a sense of nostalgia.

"It feels so much like home. But why is that? I've never been to these places in person." He watched the scene change to Ragnar, a dragon from Icy Peak, talk with his supposed past self.

"Some dragons thought you weren't ready. But I knew they were wrong."

"Oh I am ready!" past Spyro proclaimed. "Ready for what exactly?"

It wasn't the first time Spyro heard something like that. Not just from Eon when he was young but he watched Gunnar and Ivor say the same thing about being special. It was like this one had a destiny too. Changing to the fight against Dr. Shemp, Spyro felt more familiarity as he could predict the attacks. Staff slamming, swinging, and needing to flame his back as it was unguarded.

Magic Crafters was next and from the start, there were a bunch of egg thieves running around. After freeing Chief Cosmos, Zantor, and Boldar, past Spyro entered into Wizard Peak where hills with arrows on them were all over the place. A sense of exhilaration entered current Spyro as he could feel the energy from them. He tried to perform a Supercharge himself but was reminded he was in a recording.

"Ugh. Of course."

Aside from that, he enjoyed watching his supposed past self's time here. The more he watched, memories popped in his head as he could remember what could happen next. He predicted it would take five minutes to find the final red gem in Alpine Ridge when everything else was done and it came true. Then in High Caves, he could tell there was a fairy who's kiss can enhance fire breath and sure enough, there was one. He could even sense the next fight with Blowhard would be another chase and that's what happened.

"It's like I really have done this before" he said to himself. Watching the scene change to Beast Makers, Ignitus' words rung in his head. Having different forms and living previous lives. He still didn't think much but the more he watched, the more he could feel that maybe he did go through all this.

It became more prominent as Spyro felt a sense of dread when going through Terrace Village, Misty Bog, and Tree Tops. He was right with that as there were electric floors, attack frogs who were in groups, and a very tricky Supercharge to reach one dragon out in the distance.

"That was quite a ride Spyro" Jed told him. "You've come a long way since you were a young glider."

"Yeah...well...you could have found an easier spot to get stuck!" past Spyro panted.

"Indeed" current Spyro nodded. He felt a laugh escape his throat. "Wait, I looked back on it again. It's like remembering events with fondness."

Dreamweavers was the final main realm and Spyro was quick to notice the similarities between here and Skylands. Floating islands, giant castles, mysterious creatures. It was here he began to realize that maybe that talk of going through this was the truth.

While current Spyro enjoyed seeing the sights, it was clear past Spyro had a different opinion. "Ugh, this place is so weird! Fools running around, nightmares popping up, floating armor. Least the dragons here are easier to understand."

The comment of dragons made current Spyro recall looking at his supposed past self interact with each group. The Artisans were a peaceful bunch, preferring art and diplomacy over conflict. Peacekeepers were the opposite. Training for battle and not letting the enemy rest. Magic Crafter dragons appeared a little more snobbish with their magical skills and Spyro could tell they had a bit of an ego too. There were just as many friendly ones too. Boldar, Jarvis, Eldrid, Zane, Zantor, and Lucas being good examples. Beast Keepers had a warm community and welcomed all kinds of animals. Some had thick Cajun accents and they were quite strong too. As for the Dreamweavers, yes they tended to be cloud cuckoo landers but they were also warm, welcoming, and actually quite wise. Like they were enlightened. Though this piece of advice from Revilo was confusing.

"Aim high in life but watch out for flying boxes."

Due to not seeing many dragons, mainly nice adult dragons, Spyro enjoyed getting to know each group. He even saw himself in each culture. The personality of a Peacekeeper, the horns, paws, and accepting other cultures from Beast Keepers, the bright colors of his scales and love of fun from Dreamweavers, his growing powers relating to magical abilities from Magic Crafters, and being looked after by responsible figures like the ones from Artisans. "Wow. Can't believe the world was like this two thousand years ago. There were lots of dragons back then. If this is what one of my lives was like, it was awesome."

After Jaques was defeated, past Spyro was ready to head to the Junkyard when a small pink female dragon child approached him with flowers. "Excuse me? Spyro?" she said.

He turned to her making her look away in shyness. "I...just want to say thank you for saving the Dreamweaver realm."

Current Spyro was in awe at the flowers. They looked like tulips at first but then changed to poppies, lilies, sunflowers, orchids, daisies, roses, and other kinds. His eyes fell on the pink dragon and something came to him. He knew this girl. While her name was never said, his gut knew who it was.

"Ember?"

Looking at recording Spyro, the look on his face made it clear he wanted to leave as fast as possible. "Uh...you're welcome."

"Maybe you can...come visit sometime. So we can play?" Ember asked.

"Yeah...I can do that." Current Spyro could tell that this guy had no intentions of returning. Ember didn't seem to notice as she squealed happily and ran off, failing to realize he didn't take the flowers.

While Spyro wasn't one for romance, seeing what happened hurt him a little. This girl wanted to share her gratitude and his supposed past self brushed her off. He then thought back to times where he did similar things when training at the Academy. "Man, guess I do have a lot in common with this guy when I was young."

In the Junkyards, there were four heads that led to four different locations. Two were open but the others were closed. Six dragons, Delbin, Tomas, Magnus, Chief Cosmos, Cleetus, and Chief Lateef, tried to face Gnasty themselves but ended up getting crystallized again. Once they were freed and the gnorcs were taken care of, the portal to Gnasty Gnorc opened. It was here current Spyro felt more memories enter and he managed to remember what was going to happen.

"So you've finally arrived" Gnasty announced.

"Couldn't come sooner" past Spyro fired back. "Why don't you come down here actually fight me? Your henchmen were a total joke so I want an actual fight!"

Current Spyro looked to the side. "There's two thieves to chase to get keys."

The thieves showed up making recording Spyro chase after them. Once he did so, he was able to reach Gnasty who ran off. "He chases him through twists and turns" he said next. As he watched the fight go on, he heard the gnorc speak.

"Stop! Listen! You can't trust those dragons! They want you to follow in their footsteps!"

"Oh please!" past Spyro kept chasing after him. "You made a mess in the Dragon Realms! You turned every dragon but me to crystal! You caused all this!"

Gnasty was about to say something but was cut off by a flurry of flames. "OW!" He tried to dust himself off and ran inside another building. Through it all, current Spyro tried to listen. If life taught him anything, it was that some villains are more than meets the eye. First with Kaos and his mother and then there was Crash's relationship with Cortex and Brio. His time with Cynder and being corrupted with dark aether gave him a whole new perspective of morality. That people weren't just born good or evil. One or the other was thrust upon them. Something the Academy began teaching last semester.

"I know you're not like the other dragons" Gnasty ran across retracting platforms. "You're so much more. Don't let them make you like the rest of their kind. What I did, they deserve it!"

It fell on deaf ears for recording Spyro as he caught up with him. With one fire breath, Gnasty's scepter fell on his head. Seeing he wasn't going to get through to him, he used his scepter to disappear. "Huh, that's it?" past Spyro got out. "So much for a final battle."

The scene changed a few times from past Spyro being interviewed and then collecting the last of the fourteen thousand treasure in Gnasty's Loot. Through it all, current Spyro couldn't stop thinking. The dragons he saw having ulterior motives? But they were nice and helpful. He would have discarded it but faint memories made him reconsider.

"Too blurry" he strained. "But I can feel there's more." He then noticed his supposed past self and Sparx in a room filled with fireworks. This was likely Gnasty's room.

"This is great!" Sparx buzzed. "We saved the Dragon Realms, beat Gnasty, took back our treasure, and now we get to blow it all up! Let's light these..." he stopped when he saw Spyro drag them outside and set them off safely. "Uh Spyro, don't you wanna blow this place sky high?"

"They're lighting fireworks tonight at Artisans" he replied.

"Still!"

Current Spyro walked to the picture of Gnasty as it hung on a wall. He could overhear recording Spyro explain. "Look Sparx, because of Gnasty, we got to go on the adventure we've been dreaming of since we were little! We're heroes! I think we kind of owe him for that at least."

The final scene was Artisans at night as the fireworks went off. After one more interview, past Spyro was taken aside by Delbin. Current Spyro listened to what was said and was stunned.

"Dragons hatch every twelve years. You however are three months off" Delbin started. "Years ago, we were returning from a completed mission that would have doomed the Dragon Realms when we saw a thief make off with a dragon egg. Your dragon egg. We figured he took advantage of us being gone and stole one to try and sell on the black market. We chased him to Artisans when he almost jumped into this water fountain behind us. Kind of odd why he would do so but we managed to catch him. Your egg then started to hatch, attracting a lost, just born dragonfly. When we told the fairies at High Caves, they said no thieves tried to steal the eggs. Which was odd as every laid egg is taken there until the Year of the Dragon. So we waited for the festival three months later hoping a mother and father would appear but no one came. To this day, no one knows where you came from."

There was a moment of silence. "So you're not my dad. I might not even be Artisan" recording Spyro said.

"You have traits from each of the five groups" Delbin told him. "The physical makeup of a Beast Maker, the colors of a Dreamweaver, magical potential from Magic Crafters, and the personality of a Peacekeeper. All while being raised by Artisan dragons. I might have been your main caretaker but everyone pitched in. And it has been an experience."

That was when more memories flooded in current Spyro. Helping Nestor build a project, doodling on Delbin's face when he was asleep, learning guitar from Tomas, judging a pie contest with Argus, making a cuckoo clock with Lindar, chasing sheep while Astor tried to stop him from eating them, painting with Gildas and Nevin, sorting books with Oswin at Dark Hollow's library, acting with Darius, throwing paper airplanes at Alban during lessons, sculpting with Nils, learning to cook with Devlin and Alvar, hanging out at Gavin's coffee lounge, and seeing Thor and his wife's stain glass creations. "I...I did go through that." He kept watching as a gateway opened when the five stones were activated on the fountain. It led to a speedway that past Spyro jumped in without thinking twice. That was when there was a bright light and he found himself back in the viewing room.

Groaning, he rubbed his eyes to see the screen blank and his friends around him. "Are you okay?" Crash asked him.

"I'm fine" he took a moment to gather his bearings. "I got sucked in the book. I don't know how but I did. I didn't see you guys so..."

"Ignitus told us" Cynder explained. "As for us, we continued watching without getting sucked in. I really enjoyed seeing what life for dragons was like thousands of years ago. Although it's confusing that female dragon adults weren't present."

"Still doesn't explain the whole reincarnation he keeps telling us" Eruptor added.

Spyro could only give a sigh. "Actually, I believe I did have a previous life. When I was in the book, I could feel familiarity in the worlds that dragon went through. I remembered the names of people I've never seen before, I knew what each realm had in store, I even knew that all the big fights were going to be let downs. If we keep watching, you guys might realize it too."

He went to the second book that had a small, orange dinosaur on it only to be stopped. "I do admire your desire to learn young dragon but I think that's enough for today" Ignitus told him. "Hours have passed and it should be time for you to return. We will continue next time." He levitated ten more keys along with the one Spyro already had. Putting them in the hands of his friends. "These keys will allow you to return to the library. Use them in any keyhole and it will open a passage to here. You will be welcome here and are free to look at any book available but as for these eight, that will be covered three days later."

With that, he began to lead everyone back to the entrance. On the way, Crash and Coco were picking out books to read. Most were on Earth culture but they couldn't find any on aether wielders or about Cortex's past. Wanting to have a better understanding on why he turned to evil.
