Work Text:
Seishu Inupi,
I don't understand you sometimes. I know that I haven't been the best friend to you, and I'm sorry. I should've never accused you of using me for money. That was wrong. I was wrong. I do all this horrible shit, and you still ask me those questions. Am I happy? I mean, sure. No, not really. I work for money. That's what I say, but part of me still holds onto Akane-san. She still occupies a large part of my brain and you you seem like the spitting image of her. It's scary, honestly. Sometimes, I look at you and think that she's there. That she's you. But that's wrong. You're not Akane, you're Seishu. I know that. Part of me has always known. Back when we were younger, in the library, you fell asleep at an open window. I kissed you that day. But when I kissed you, I didn't think of you, I thought of Akane. That was wrong. I'm sorry. I stole a kiss and pretended it didn't happen.
Akane told me once, "You should only kiss someone you like." or something along the lines of that. I told her that I did like her. And maybe, for a while, I did. It wasn't until much later that I realized it was you. You might think it's gross, but it's true. It's not because I'm replacing her, because I couldn't. But it's you who's here with me. Not her. I'm sorry it took me so long to realize and come to terms with it. I could never say this to your face and I don't intend to show you, but I had to say it, write it, whatever. I'm so sorry it took so long.
Maybe in another life, under different circumstances, I could tell you. Not when I've done so much wrong. I love you, Seishu. I'm sorry.

As Inui's eyes flicker over the lines he's holding his breath. Undoubtedly, this had to have been Koko. The paper was found lying about in his apartment. When was Koko here?
