Work Text:
Diluc glanced at you as he changed into his nightshirt. “What is it?” He asked, pulling his long hair from beneath his top. You had your eyes glued on him as you waited for him to join the bed. You smiled and shrugged.
“Oh, nothing,” you responded.
He raised an eyebrow, walking over and sitting on the bed. “You do this every night, [Name]. It’s a weird quirk of yours.” You leaned over and brushed strands of hair out of his face. His hair soft to the touch, you mindlessly began to play with it. “I like looking at you. I believe that it would be normal for a spouse to look at their husband like this. The least you could do is do the same for me,” you remarked, meeting his eyes.
“Are you trying to suggest I don’t like looking at you?”
“No. Though, I never catch you gazing at me.”
He chuckled. “I do, you just don’t pay attention,” he countered. You furrowed your brows. “Oh really? Well, name the times you do, hm?” He leaned closer to you. “There are plenty. When you dust off outdoor seats with a handkerchief rather than your palm, even if you just watched me dust the seat off you for. You make sure to wash the apron I gifted you last Windblume Festival clean every night, in case Charles is sick and you need to tend the Angel Share for him. How about when you think I don’t notice you look down if I forget to hug you when I return home? Or when–”
“Okay, okay! You notice a lot more than I thought you did!” Your heart was racing a bit. You’ve never known he actually did pay that much. He smiled, proceeding to get up and turning off the lights in the room. Diluc crawled into bed, getting under the sheets with you. He rested back and pulled you down, close to his chest. You draped one arm over his side as he did the same for you. “It’s really been a joy, [Name],” Diluc said.
“What has been a joy, Diluc?”
“You know.”
You smiled, humming a bit. “I don’t think I do. You might have to spell it out for me.”
You felt him kiss the crown of your head. “Being married to you, sharing my life with you, has been a joy for me. Now, get some rest.”
