His heart jumps. As much as he hates to admit it, Kaeya has a point about this. It's been his dream, an unspoken wish, to share more than just his bed with you. For months now, he'd been daydreaming about the most mundane things, most of which he's already become accustomed to: Waking up by your side, cooking side-by-side with you, driving home with your hand in his. But something in him is ever so slightly dissatisfied about the reality he lives with—that you have to go home to your own apartment, that you can't always start or end the day with him, that you can't stay forever. He's always staring after your car when you leave his driveway, gazing at your back before you close the door behind you. He misses you, more often than he'd like to admit, despite the fact that, after nearly five years into your relationship, you've been closer than you've ever been before, both in body and in spirit.
Maybe it is about time he should ask.

A sigh out through your nose. You can't bring yourself to look at him. And he knows.
He leans his back against the edge of the sink counter and quietly leans into you, offering you his shoulder. To his relief, and slight surprise, you comply. You lean back against him, nuzzling your face into his collar without a word. He props his chin atop your head, closing his eyes as you sniffle into his shirt.
He wraps an arm around you and holds you close.
You gladly lose yourself to his embrace.
